Wonder if she'll perform it next month when she does her live shows in Australia? What's that you say?!?!?!??!?!? Annie's coming back after her Aussie DJ Tour went so well earlier in the year, this time to do 3 full length live shows.... here are the dates, I cannot wait. Thu Jun 8 - Prince of Wales, Melbourne Sat Jun 10 - Super Fag Tag, Sydney Sun Jun 11 - We Love Sounds, Sydney As for "The Crush", it actually gets better with every listen, and sits up there with "Maneater" and "Sorry" as my so-far-songs-of-the-year. Absolute genius. Triple J are going to absolutely LAP this song up once they get a hold of it.

and a remaster since they did the lass-than-special Vacation album.
Did Richard X really produce the Annie song or is he just doing a remix?

This is brilliant. It's incredibly cute & catchy but not commercial at all.
And I think all the popstrels should step away from the electropop before they kill it off, it's time for a new sound. As much as i love it.
What is that sound at the beginning?
Can you imagine how amazing a dance remix will be?

I think the problem here is that its not what we expect of Annie. This sounds more like the kind of thing that I would want to see a Faders/Love Bites style group perform. I love that line "Do you wanna dance...do you wanna get it on?"

We forget that Annie comes from a punk background and when ex punk rockers turn to pop they make the best pop ever. This is just natural progression and shows a pop savviness that I never suspected Annie to have.
She's no dumb ass.

I really love the Patrick Wolf remix of Helpless Fool For Love. He has great taste.

Wow this track is awesome!
Such a shame they're not giving it a full release - promo video, CD single and what not - as it deserves to be heard by the masses.

It's not getting a proper release? I'm confused, I thought this was the next single?

But what happened to her cover of Stacey Q's Two Of Hearts, I thought that was touted as the new single? It would be fab.

I Love annie, none of my friends like her, they think she's too pop and too electro, but their typical americans(lol.) I think she's awesome, Heartbeat is one of the best songs i ever heard, can't wait to hear "crush"

It's not getting a proper release? I'm confused, I thought this was the next single? It's only going to be released on 12". She is no longer with 679 Records and is now on Dim Mak Records.

I get what she's trying to do. It's very 'new wave' and with everyone doing electropop (of the very obvious kind) it's nice to see Annie (the future of pop) doing something a little different. A Richard X production? I swear I wouldn't have guessed that if I hadn't read it here first. I totally agree and I love the song... And XoLondon, I love you too!

The more I listen to this (it's #1 in my iPod chart) the more I revel in the genius of it. It's just brilliant. The lyrics and even the name of the track just fills my head with pop connotations. Actually, my friend thought it was a Strokes song.
Ha!
If Annie's next album is as good as this and better than Anniemal, she's in serious danger of becoming my favourite new pop icon. She just 'gets' pop in a way not many female singers do. More than Paris Hilton or Rachel. Possibly more than Britney.

oh no....i loved anniemal, dont like this at all.
my hopes werent high after the couple new songs and collabs she put on her dj kicks album, but this is even worse than that.
how could she have such a great pop instinct and lose it so quickly?!

Don't you think there is more to 'pop' (a narrow word to categorise music) than electropop? Don't you get sick of hearing it constantly? Don't you like hearing a little distortion or a guitar every now and then?
The Crush is as poppy as an S Club 7 song. But much better.
Actually, I really like The Wedding too. It's so sleazy.

I have a totally different version of this single...much more "electro".... this Strokes-eque type tune you've all been checking out is possibly a remix. The version I have is much more in-keeping with the quirky electro sound of much of Anniemal. I love both versions actually, I think it's a pretty amazing single.

Okay so I've just heard it.
Umm ... I can see how it will keep you listening the first time around. I hear the early GoGo's comparison; demo GoGo's. It sounds like something from 1979 - 1981 trying to sound like something from 1977. You definitely have to hear it a few times to get used to it.
I do LURVE the part at 1.09 min in to the song where she sings 'she don't know where to begin' and then she does the 'ah' and 'oh' thing. LOVE that.
All in all not bad. The rest of the album should be interesting.
The NME crowd are gonna cream.

The Crush is AMAZING! I apologize for the use of caps.
I like Annie because she's going all the places we're not expecting her to go, and coming up with amazing shit like this. Yeah, it's not Chewing Gum, but if I want Chewing Gum, I'll listen to it. She's not repeating herself. I like that. This song makes me want to hang out with her.

and a remaster since they did the lass-than-special Vacation album. Did Richard X really produce the Annie song or is he just doing a remix? I liked Vacation better than 'Talk Show'. Vacation had a cool 60s-surfer feel to it. 'Ricky and Danny and Terry and Jim. Dean lasted 6 months don't forget him. Perhaps some day this list will end, till then I tally my gentlemen friends!' Fabulous!

It does sound like early Go-Go's and that is a good thing. It is a grower of a song. Pretty unimpressive on first listen.
I love it when pop acts do something so unexpected.
