This is the surprise from the countdown on her website: www.janetjackson.com go there now to hear this great song. It's upbeat/crunky/dancy, and it's very good!

wow!!!!!!!!!.............. I was not expecting this kind of sound of Janet!! Sounds a bit like a Richard X song. It is really like her Control Era.
But, they didnt say it's the single. Maybe it's just an album track, or a gift for the fans in the website.
I like it, it grows on me.

It's ok at best - it sounds very demo-ish and very monotone.
I really hope it's not her new single and just a bonus for her patient fans...

I really like it, i doubt it's the first single, apparently the first single is fast and has a sample of another song on it. can't wait for the album and as nastyboy said it really does sound like something from 'control' but only modernised!

Ah, that wasn't on my screen when I posted originally, but it's there now. Thanks!
I quite like this - sort of a head-on collision between the Control era and the 21st century, which I think is what she's going for. As others have said it isn't strong enough to be a lead-off single, but I think she'll be keeping that one under wraps for a while yet. This song is a promising little taster - bring on September!

the new single is suposed to a a sample of Sheila E's "Glamurous Life".
I really like this song, but it think it's just a fan gift or an albumj preview. Anyway, It's cool! Love the beat!

I think I need to hear this a bit more before I really judge it. I like some things about it,, but I don't like how processed her voice is on it. And please no more songs with whistles blowing!

Ok... I just red this, "Weekend" it's a cover from Debbie Deb, I don't even know who she is, but here are the lyrics, the original song is called "Lookout Weekend"
DEBBIE DEB - LOOKOUT WEEKEND
Jumping music, slick deejays, fog machines and laser rays
Chorus: Lookout weekend cause, here I come Because weekends were, made for fun Repeat (1x)
I work hard, everyday, its all work and no play With the boss on my back, he don't give me any slack I sit down, I daydream of how my weekends gonna be
Chorus (1x)
By the time wednesday comes, I feel the beat and I wanna have fun
Chorus
All you ladies, clap your hands, stomp your feet and grab your man
Chorus
Okay men, its your time, show the ladies whats on your minds
Chorus
Jumping music, slick deejays, fog machines and laser rays
Chorus
I work hard everyday, its all work and no play With the boss on my back, he don't give me any slack I sit down I day dream of how my weekends gonna be
Chorus
Jumping music, slick deejays, fog machines and laser rays
Chorus (2x)
Lookout weekend cause... Because weekends were... Repeat (3x)
Chorus (2x)

the production sounds cool but overall I can't get too excited. i always loved the Black Eyed Peas 'Weekend' (back from when they made good music) - and never realised it was based on another song.

Her voice is terrible on the verses - but the hook and the production just about redeem it.
It's probably not destined for the album at all, but I hope radio doesn't pick it up and force a release like they did with 'Just a Little While'

She scrubs up well for a woman about to turn 40 doesn't she?
I like the sound of a tour - I still can't remember why I didn't go to the Velvet Rope one (her first, and so far only visit to Scotland), then I had tickets for All For You tour only to see it cancelled, and of course the planned Damita Jo trek never materialised. So this time, I am there.

So true. It would be so nice to see some clothes on her for a change. And a new album not so heavy on the sexual content and R&B ballads. Something new this time Janet, please. By the way she lost the weight she had gained on amazingly quickly. Looks almost too skinny now.

whatttt? you don't want four new fingersnap beat ballads about oral sex and wetness, etc? heh heh!
Thank God Weekend is not on the CD, though I think it's nice that she did that for her fans. That evens out the points deducted for such a bad wig.
Let's just hope the new CD pulls off the same trick done by Mariah, Madonna and PSB...

Those boobs defy gravity. Big bubbles stuck to her, though they look realer than most fake boobs. I can't believe how quickly she lost that weight. It's amazing. She looks great. 'Cept for last two Whitney-esque pics which made me laugh out loud too.
I would presume Call On Me is going to be slamming or she's fucked.
