Take That have signed a £3m deal with Polydor, instead of their old record company SonyBMG. It's understood that David Joseph was instrumental in Take That's decision, as he was at SonyBMG when they were there. www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,4-2006210200,,00.html

Is this true? I'd love it to be but I'd like someone more reliable than the Sun to have said something...

although the sun isnt very reliable often, id say it would be stupid NOT to cash in on the big revival and do a new album.

Hate to say it, but I reckon that as great as the tour seems to be going, an album of new material probably won't go down too well.
Don't expect it to light the charts on fire anytime in 2007, kids x

i doubt the single or album will be massive sellers unless they are out of this world which i really doubt , i cant imagine their new material being good at all.
The single will go low top 10 im guessing with the album making the top 20 but will stuggle for top 10 with follow up 2nd single probably missing the top 10. Just because the tour is going well , they dont have a chance as a band no more.
i cant see the guys making more than 1 new album.

regardless of whether their comeback song is out of this world or just quite good, it will go to number 1 no question. they have managed to get back all their old fanbase with this tour, even though the fanbase has grown up. quite an accomplishment.

From Music Week OnLine (yesterday):
Polydor is aiming to release new Take That material by Christmas, with a single to precede the album release in October.
The label, which emerged victorious in the fight to sign the group, is currently finalising a top US producer to produce the album and the group will head to LA to begin recording after their current live dates are complete.
Polydor co-managing director Colin Barlow believes there is strong potential to reach both existing fans and extending to a new audience. “The important thing with this album is to ensure we really push the envelope and making a great record that really captures the moment. This is a brilliant second opportunity for them and they know that.”
The deal with Polydor incorporates a new studio album and the DVD release of their comeback tour, which will come to a end this month. Barlow says releases beyond that are an option. “We’re all mature enough to be able to look each other in the eye and say ‘look, this could be the start of something,’ but it really depends on how the market reacts to this record.”

The first album will sell very well, but I can see them churning out covers to a disinterested public by album three of this deal

I'd like a re-release of do what u like backed with a cover of Mr Blobby I love Do What You Like! It always annoys me when it gets missed out of things (eg the Greatest Hits) The first album will sell very well, but I can see them churning out covers to a disinterested public by album three of this deal They mostly churned out covers first time around though, and people were still interested? *illegal smiley* I'm going to change my prediction: The first single will be number one Christmas single (if it is a different song )may reach number one but the album won't sell too well - I still find it a bit odd that they are rushing the album a little if it is released this year; work probably won't start until June?

I got the impression that they'd been playing with ideas behind the scenes for some time. It's all going to boil down to the material. If they have good stuff, it will sell because there is an affection for them and their fans are of an age where they'll be able to buy the album without much thought. It will be inevitably be pitched as 'the ideal Christmas gift'.
