This is the greatest pop record of 2006. Wait till you hear this, it's freaking unbelievable. Astonishingly, it's only available on the limited edition bonus CD "Fundamentalism" that goes along with the release of "Fundamental" on may 22nd.
Richard X and Pet Shop Boys: A match made in heaven!

Yes... I've only just heard it, but it may well rank as one of the greatest PSB tracks of all time.

...Anyone know how else I can get hold of this track without shelling out probably £17.99 at HMV for a Special Edition CD Album(TM)? Bear in mind I'm not that much of a Pet Shop Boys fan, but I *am* a Richard X Fan

I've said it all along - the best track from Neil & Chris from the Fundemental recordings and in typical PSB fashion it's tucked away as the first track on a "bonus CD!". It needs a single version/radio edit and what can I say as you pick me up off the floor (make a note of that for a title for a track on their next album) - Richard X has managed to make the PSB sound better!
10/10

They simply must record an album with Richard X. Fugitive is outrageously brilliant and though I should never be too surprised by their genius, to make something so ecstatic and euphoric (yet typically PSB sad too) about such a subject matter beggars belief.
PLEASE MAKE A SIX TRACK ELECTRO ALBUM WITH RICHARD X!!!!!

What is that chorus? Is it "you are my brother"? d'you think they watch "Prison Break"?

I think it's a great track, but nowhere near as astounding as some of you are making out!

I agree - I think that is the excitement over Richard X fueling this. It's much better than half the CD tracks and goes better with the themes on the album, but it is a far more simple song than the others. Does it really even have a middle eight?
That said, it's a very nice track and will certainly end up in the non-album pantheon.

Exactly. It doesn't even really sound like a fully fledged song. It's very good, but hardly amazing.

Not as fantastic as everyone has made out on here, but still great to hear Dicky X's beeps and blops with the Boys.

I think its' simplicity is its' genius. It is reminiscent of Miracles's darker twin and sounded sensational today lying in the sun gazing upwards at the clear azure sky.

I think Fugitive is absolutely one of the best tracks i've heard. Sounds a little hyperbolic but i've listened to it roughly 30 times and I still think its gorgeous. I thought Integral was as good as it was going to get but Fugitive has hooked me completely.
Love the lyrics too. I never thought i'd hear a sympathetic song from the viewpoint of a suicide bomber, nevermind one that makes them sound a little heroic. So much better than some generic lyric about a girl or a boy, gives you something to think about.

And suddenly it all makes sense.
Good grief.
Absolute genius.
I can't believe this wasn't on the album.

Possible reasons why Fugitive wasn't the first single from Fundamental, let alone not on the album:
1) It's a Trevor Horn album. Wouldn't want to ruin that. (a really dumb reason, but possible) 2) EMI put their foot down due to the extremely controversial lyrics. (somewhat likely) 3) EMI and PSB doesn't know what's good for them. (a highly likely explanation)

Well, from all I've read, PSB seem to get told what singles are coming off their albums. I think they should put their feet down!

Well yes, PSB wanted the first to be Sodom and Gomorrah but Parlophone issued a no-no on that one.

1) It's a Trevor Horn album. Wouldn't want to ruin that. (a really dumb reason, but possible) I think that would be the most likely reason. They wanted to do a whole album with Trevor. Fugitive wouldn't fit the mood with the rest of the album. If Richard X is doing an "X-Factor vol.2.", Fugitive could be a single off that. But Pet Shop Boys quite often have these wonderful pop masterpieces as b-sides/bonus tracks. They've always had and I think it's actually quite nice and rewarding for us fans.
