Picked up a leaflet at last night's Take That concert at Wembley, with a link to download her track 'Who's Gonna Save Your Soul' for FREE! It's all 'official', the link is here - www.beverleyknight-freedownload.com/

Oh well I don't need to get the 'Voice' album now. I've got everything else bar Angels and I don't really want THAT.

It's a nice song, probably not the best to try and sell her greatest hits on though

Well, she's already sold quite a few based on Piece Of My Heart, and I can't imagine the track could be much worse than that. I usually like Bev, but this is one of the worst covers I've ever heard - lazy, unimaginative, clumsily arranged and totally inferior to every previous version (with the possible exception of Shaggy's). The bit where she goes 'nevereverevereverever...' grates so horribly on my ears that I've considered sawing them off.

Bev is an amazing performer as anyone who has seen her live will confirm. However, her career decisions of late have been a bit shocking. That BBC TV show made her look Z-list, and Piece Of My Heart doesn't really stand up against the Dusty version which is currently on that Cadbury's ad. Her only redeaming move has been to sing with Take That on her tour - she is a much better LuLu.
The woman has some great songs in her back catalogue. She needs to get back in the studio and go back to doing what she does best - being a slightly under the radar British soul singer.

Her only redeaming move has been to sing with Take That on her tour - she is a much better LuLu. Really, no. I'm not a Lulu fan, but her support slot was terrible and her wailings all over Relight My Fire were dire - the Lulu version was fun and sparky, not warbly and pointless. Yes, she's got a decent pair of lungs on her, but she needs a bit of restraint and a good arranger. 5000 notes per syllable and drawing everything out into wanky pseudo-soul jazz ramblings was just excruciating. She displayed zero personality and looked more embarrassing in a corset than Cilla Black at that Royal Variety Performance. I'd rather have had bloody Brenda from X Factor than "Bev". She even managed to taint Never Forget. She's not soul, gospel, rock or pop, she's just vocal chords with no direction.

And her openning act was a little dragged out, but you cannot knock her performance with Take That. The very fact she was willing to do come down on that platform in that corset and perform is a good thing in itself - many other 'credible' acts wouldn't have touched that with a barge poll. She did sing it well, and brought alot of energy to the performance.

many other 'credible' acts wouldn't have touched that with a barge poll. Are you implying that Beverley Knight was, is or will ever be a "credible" act? Surely she's always been Tesco soul. Never the critics' choice. Or the public's, until she duetted with Nicky Campbell. Who wanted a credible act to do the Lulu bit anyway? Are we supposed to give her props because nobody else would have "touched that with a barge POLE" (not "poll", if we ran a poll nobody would pick Bev either)? "Oh bless her, she's a bit rubbish but at least she's game!"
