I'm not sure if newbies are allowed to shamelessly champion their favourite acts but here goes! Marit Larsen, formerly of late 90s pop duo M2M has just released her debut solo album in her native Norway on EMI and it is an absolute corker. The title track Under The Surface has to be heard to be believed, which it can be (in full colour video!) at www.marit-larsen.com She is a great songwriter with a distinctive voice and she looks incredible. If she is not a major star here in a year's time then I will eat my hat. I'm interested to hear what you guys think about her.

Shamelessly champion Marit away! I loved M2M's stuff (more on "The Big Room" than "Shades Of Purple" but you still can't beat "Don't Say You Love Me".) I've heard some of Marion's solo tracks and they were pretty good, so it's nice Marit's going at it too.
"Under The Surface" is pretty nice, though another single "Don't Save Me" is a bit poppier and more memorable after one listen.
Having said all that, I don't think she'll get that major star status. No reflection on her or her work, I just can't see it happening in the UK. I'd be deliriously delighted if it did though.
