The song that could possibly replace "Maneater" at the top of the 2006 chart...?!
In my dreams it would be a new Rachel/Richard X number... but...
Anyone have an inkling?

MIA is amazing, but I'm rooting for a new Rachel Stevens single with Bloodshy and Avante. I think Rachel's flaw is she isn't working with Cathy Denis

It was from an interview with a woman in the observer who is an A&R/manager( ? ), something like that. Anyway, her record company are really excited about the new material.

I don't know if you're joking, but I don't think nearly as many people care anything about Ashley Breathe as you might think/want. I doubt popjustice will ever pay him any attention in a post or a chart entry.

I doubt popjustice will ever pay him any attention in a post or a chart entry. It's an even more ridiculous notion than Rachel Stevens producing a greater single than Maneater. And that's saying something. I'd put fifty quid on it being someone who hasn't been mentioned on this thread. And I'm skint.

Is this a new track?

Hmmm pink - cuz i can or maybe cascada - everytime we touch ? Surely he would be allowed to tell us about those. My hopes are for a track by a new artist/band. I'm in the mood for a new favourite pop act! Lily Allen is the only new really-exciting thing that I've heard this year. There's space for another one.

I heard Maneater for the first time the other day, it is a good song but I don't see what make its so special over practically all the other top 10 songs in the Chart of Truth...

Anyone here heard Lillix "Sweet Temptation"?
Almost - but not quite - knocking off Maneater as my fave so far of the year. Absolute corker of a track.

i dont think any of the new Nelly Furtado stuff is all that great. her best material is on her second album, not this overproduced, assembly line fluff. was she so desperate for a hit after folklore flopped?

Folklore was so patchy, and had about 2-3 good songs, how can you prefer that? One trick pony ***shivvers***
I am sure Nelly has nightmares of it's floppage - resulting to the Gwenism on the upcoming album FOR WHICH I CAN'T WAIT!

Overproduced? That's debateable. But how you can call any of her new material "assembly-line fluff" is beyond me. Maneater is quite literally mental and the most risky, uncommercial thing she's ever done.

As Vasilios pointed out, it's like something new you'd expect from Gwen Stefani.

I'm slighty annoyed at the thought of something replacing Maneater. I'm quite happy for it to sit there at number one for the rest of the foreseeable future.
I'm inclined to suspect that anyone who doesn't recognise Maneater for the behemoth of musical brilliance that it is, is harbouring some kind of silly resentment that Rachel Stevens* or Clea isn't receiving as much attention.
*Obviously Rachel Stevens is infinitely better than Clea - I don't mean to lump them together.
