Pharrell's long delayed In My Mind finally sees a release date on late July. Usually I love everything by The Neptunes/Pharrell, but I have to admit Can I Have It Like That (although it was a real grower for me) and Angel were a bit disappointing. But a Pharrell production is at its worst still better than most of the r&b/hiphop stuff out there. But this new single featuring Kanye West... It's everything it says on its chrous (Number 1 smash hit off the charts.... classic) I love it! Now you go and hear it! community.pharrellwilliams.com/

This is a very good track. It's also quite clever, because whenever radio DJs introduce the track they will be like "This is Pharell Williams with number one", and he really does need a hit right now especially after the luke-warm reception to his other tracks. However, is Kanye's pay day rap really necessary?
What on Earth is going on with 'In My Mind', I heard that Pharell was furious with Sony ( ? ) for their repeated delays and conspiracy theories were thrown around.

I wish he'd just do something on his own. He has a pretty good voice but he always has to have some tosser come on and rap. Can I Have It Like That was one of the worst singles of 2005 à mon avis.

The song is really good. But all the stuff of Pharrell is sounding a bit dated, cause he has produced too much. I think this boy has a big ego, good for a pop star , but it's time to release this album in july?, disappear , and create a new sound for the next 5 years. I prefer the other song was going to be the single "Baby Feat. Nelly" , a live version you can find in ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAva06m9U7Y&search=pharrell%20baby

I think it's pure strategy. Pharrell under his own label Star Trak is doing the same with other artists like the superb Robin Thicke. I listened the first time "Wanna Love You Girl" in July last year, they promised the album due in the end of the last year, but nothing happened. They don't find the correct tune and the correct moment. And they are not too interested in waste so much money in promo.
"CIHLT" Feat Gwen was a bad tune. "Angel" by Pharrell was shit. But I highly recommend the Axwell remix. This new tune is the best and Kanye West is really the number 1. But Pharrell nowadays is more than music. He's a trademark. An Icon. So maybe he's not too interested in doing things right.
What a pitty!!!

StarTrak releases are famous for getting pushed back over and over again. Sometimes even getting eventually shelved.

This is interesting. But isn't it more to do with them not having control over what is released and when because it is only an imprint label. Hence, Kelis losing her rag over the cock-up with 'Wanderland' ... Does anyone know more about this?

Well, I think Pharrell is a genius. He loves what he does, but he works for money( he created a label called "Billionaire"). If you think you're a genius and you work for money, you will work very well. He works with potential artists, like Robin or in the past Kelis. Then he bets. But he bets when he thinks is the moment, like in poker tournament. Kelis with the firts albums gained credibility. After, with the support of RCA she made a really good album with different producers and we had TASTY. Now she is not under Star Trak, let's see what happens. I can't wait to listen the new album of Robin of Pharrell. But as far I can see, it's not the momment to both of them. They will fail. But maybe we can have some fun with both albums. What it's really important.
