According to the NME website she has been 'denied access'.
She is also working with Timbaland on her follow up to the Best Album Of Last Year, Arular. This new record will automatically make all other female artists totally irrelevant and show them all up and piss on anything Missy/Nelly F/Tweet has ever done.

I hope she works with Diplo again. I expect nothing short of brilliance from her. That is all!

You and me both. It is a great album isn't it?
I wonder why MIA can't get into the US. She says her lawyers are sorting it out.

Perhaps 'cause she is linked with the Tamil Tigers and raps about the PLO.

Quite exciting that she's working with Timbaland.
Arular really is a wondrous piece of work.
It took me a few listens to get it but I am now so pleased I bought it.
If the next album is full of tracks equal in quality to 10 Dollar then it will be the best thing ever.

Does she really need to work with Timbaland though. Arular was significantly better than a lot that he has come up with recently. As much as I love the Nelly stuff and he is working with Timberlake I still think that the loss of Aaliyah signalled the end of truly ground breaking Timbaland stuff. We shall have to wait and see.
Is she working with Richard X again?

If you like U.S. style rap hip-hop, then you may like it. What was good about MIA's first (?) album was that it DIDN'T sound American. I HATE hip hop and rap but love her album. I don't want any male rappers barking away in her songs like they do in US rap songs.

It's a disgrace that she had problems entering this country. Our entry policy, even for visitors, is ludicrous and deeply unfair. We should be rolling out the red carpet and begging her to stay longer....

Around the time 'Galang' came out she had this 'talk to M.I.A' link on her site, I emailed her to say she reminded me of Neneh Cherry and I love Neneh Cherry. She emailed back to say thank you! She's lovely, although I remember reading somewhere that she'd had a fumble with The Game which kind of put me off her briefly.
Her not being to get into the US is horrific! Didn't they deport Cat Stevens a couple of years ago because he looked a bit 'foreign like'' and had a new muslim name?? I remember her saying that her record company had recieved information that the FBI had been monitoring her sight and that her (on the run) father had told her to change the title of her album.

I saw Cat Stevens in Waterstones a few months ago. I believe his problem was that his new name Yusef Islam, I think it is, was the name of another British person they had on their list.

Have to admit I know nothing else, but 10 Dollar is pure genius... will look out for new stuff, and look up old.

Funny - the first time I heard Maneater I thought to myself, "Oh my, Nelly is a MIA fan." Side note: I loved the song Missy did with MIA too.
