Christ, it wasn't what happened so much as how fucking ugly she looked - simply monstrous.
Oh how I wish I was exaggerating.
Horrible, fuzzy hair, horrible washed-out face, HORRIBLE gold caps (or something - might have been a brace of some sort) on every single tooth.... Just the most upsetting thing I've ever witnessed.
And I saw Britney live last week.

She was looking a bit scary wasn't she? Maybe I shouldn't stand too near the front at the show. Still can't wait.
Posh - the Britney thing is self-explanatory. Remind me to send you a clip of her 'singing' live.

Those gold teeth things were gross! The last time my hair looked that bad was when I dyed it too much when I was 14 and it all broke off. She's soooo gorgeous, why ug yourself up sexy lady?

to be honest I never actually thought she was all that attractive anyway - gold caps can only make it worse though..

She looked worse than this on the show: ...but I think you'll agree, that's still pretty fucking bad.

The teeth were horrible. I can't believe that her friends don't have a word with her.
I don't think she's that attractive but she is very sexy. I think she looks rather well in the new vid for Trick Me.

RUN FOR THE HILLS!!! I love Kelis, though. Trick Me is one darn good tune. I don't think she's that good looking but she's certainly not ugly...with white teeth.

Nah. They're like dentures. And I don't care how much they cost - dentures aren't stylish. I watched her looking awful in slightly drunken disbelief. I hate it when people think they can get away with anything.

i can't see what the fuss is about. kelis's new dentures may lend her an unorthodox quality, but the way people have found that repellent is intriguing. it's strange how people react so potently whenever a celebrity flirts with the subversion of a perceived ideal of beauty.

Goldie looks good with dentures. But Kelis doesn't, it doesn't suit her face shape.

Kelis looks gorgeous sometimes, like in her new video but I've seen really mingin pics of her as well so I'd say she's just naturally ugly.

I don't think it's about that. I find it interesting that when you reach a certain level of fame and success, no-one has the guts to tell you you look a state. These people have access to stylists, they come into contact with make-up artists. The teeth aren't the issue for me, they aren't nice, or tasteful or doing anything for her, but they could look striking in some circumstances, so I can see the appeal. Watching her on Jonathon Ross I was in shock before she put the teeth in. It wasn't that she looked ugly so much as she looked odd. Her hair and face were both a very unnatural shade of orangy-beige. It wasn't that she'd not bothered with make-up, she had loads of it on, but no definition to her features. I was fasinated that make-up could be used so badly to make someone look so bad. It wasn't ugly, so much as ill-defined, and featureless and unhealthy.

Maybe she's just acting out a little bit, what with the fall-out with The Neptunes. For me, this type of thing does her no harm, as she's not about looking beautiful, so she's not going to fall into any kind of glamour trap (i.e, Cher and just about any female singer who doesn't write her own songs exclusively). She's never going to be a victim of it, so I think she gets away with it. I saw the repeat, and, yes, the hair was a mess, but I didn't really notice the make-up issue. It was still a great interview, and she had the audience in the palm of her hand. I liked how she held her own regarding the Queen's "bling".

You are right that it was a good interview and looking a state won't do her career any harm, as looking great isn't what she's about. But [adopts Fern Britton voice] as a woman, I'm fascinated that she doesn't want to look good. [/Fern Britton voice]
I don't mean 'nice' or 'pretty', because 'striking' could work, and the teeth could count as striking. I'm no glamour-puss myself. I'll happily go to the shops without my make-up on and more often than not my hair is tied back because I'm too lazy to do anything interesting with it. What interests me is that her anti-glamness wasn't about looking natural or being too lazy to preen, and she's always been well presented, if not conventionally beautiful in the past.
