I'm a fan of 'striking' - it can be the best form of beauty. There was enough money involved in the look to make it worth-while, I think. Regarding your no make-up situation, are you a lesbian? I would personally sometimes go to lectures looking a "mess" (kind of like when you've just had a facial and no one's noticed, so you say you've only had 5 hours sleep to see what people say), but as long as my eyebrows are groomed, teeth are clean, and lips are glossed, then I'm good to go. I was expecting her to look really upsetting, but didn't think it was that bad. For her to do it all the time just wouldn't be convincing anyone. She should stick to colouring her hair green or yellow. The 'Trick Me' video is very slick, but I much preffered her in the 'Good Stuff' clip.

Hmm I would say its just the teeth make her look a bit scary. Especially if she had her mouth closed and then just smiled at you like that. Blimey.
But she looks like she has a nice figure and I think her songs are fantastic - she has some great songs.
Its not always about image for me - I usually decide whether I like the song or not first - what the artist looks like is usually an afterthought. If they look good as well its a bonus of course.
I think the image thing is more for the likes of Busted fans.
*stands well back for Busted onslaught*
