Well I like it if they have good acts on like bands or artists I like (i.e. Keane, Starsailor, Mark Owen, Kelis, Katie Melua (was she on?) but every week on CD:UK and TOTP Saturday we get McFly, Busted, Phixx, V, and Cheeky Girls.
Don't they realised that they do have an audience who aren't 100% fully made up of 12 year olds? What about the rest of us?
We get a small section of Hot Shots and if they're in the Top 5 we get them on the show. If we get fed a constant diet of pop drivel every single week don't they realise we'll turn off?
Or do the rest of you think this is ok?
Yes I could get satellite tv and find music channels to suit me but I just think a variety of music on Saturday would be nice - not the same acts every single week.

I *heart* Fearne Cotton but I'm always disappointed with who's on. Both shows are too fussy and get all the big pop acts on but no one genuinely famous or genuinely rubbish and set to chart at # 62.

Saturday morning pop tv reaks of desperation these days. As well as the predictability of the artists, every week seems to include performances that viewers 'loved so much the first time they just have to repeat again.' Yeh right!! Fearne just about makes TOTP bearable. Cat on the other hand makes me want to puke even when I've not got a hangover

I find CD.UK has the better artists, but when it's bad, it's REALLY bad. TOTP Saturday is normally utter tripe, apart from a few golden moments. I only watched it this morning to catch the Busted video and Rachel Stevens then switched back to CD.UK... which was so shite i can't actually remember any of the acts. Saturday morning pop TV has gone downhill, but it's been so gradual i've only really noticed in the past month.

Saturday morning tv may be getting shit but I think I'd end my own life if I had to watch Starsailor and/or Katie Melua.

I love Saturday morning TV, but the producers seem to forget who they are targetting a lot. They're seeking too much credibility, like all music media.
Fearne Cotton is the saviour of Sat TV alongside Cheeky Dog.

I have mixed views on this.
I feel that TOTP Sat aims too low, and CDUK aims too high- there is no balance, and that's what is lacking. TOTP Sat will have on all the bands CDUK won't... and CDUK seem determined to show at least one rock/indie band on a week, not with the intention of promoting them as much as making the programme seem credible.
However, I changed my mind a little today. i am loving the new TOTP Sat mansion- was this just a one off? And i'm so glad they've brought the Hot Shots Review back on CDUK, because i looked forward to that the most every week- was disappointed when it disappeared. Yay.
Cat is more mature, classy and just seems so much more genuine than Fearne who... i find it hard to know when she's putting it on for the cameras. She annoys me.

HAve to agree with you and only realised it recently when I found myself dedicating two hours of my Saturday morning watching Saturday Kitchen and briefly flicking to see whether it was McFly or Busted on CD:UK or Blue os TOTP Sat.
Hot shots review is a plus especially when they have someone like Jamelia on who is honest. Cat's questions can be a bit crap though.

I really don't like Fearne Cotton. So I usually watch Cat Deely. However, both shows are rubbish.
Top of the pops Saturday is just abysmal. It makes me cringe it's so bad. CD:uk has too much "proper rock" and "indie" for my liking.
Sadly, ITV have decided that only five year olds watch TV on a Saturday and that's why the Ministry of Mayhem is so appallingly bad. Having said that, the five year olds don't like it either.
Bring back SM:tv! It was better than this, even when it was at its worst.

I've almost given up on it. I don't watch TSS or MOM if I can help it, and TOTP Saturday and CDUK are too predictable. It's always the same artists with the same management. If anyone with real star status turns up on TOTP Saturday Fearne hyperventilates and Cat is becoming too obsessed with credibility.
The hotshots review can be a laugh, but more often than not Cat's questions bore or annoy me, and the 'honest' guests frequently mistake being out-spoken and opinionated for having an interesting opinion. It's a bit like Loose Women, which Miquitta should definitely go on.
It doesn't matter what the videos are, I often forget there are videos there. The questions are either
* do you think rock is coming back? Real instruments are great. * what do you think to the whole (slagging off) reality tv shows band-wagon? Please tell everyone how much harder you had to work for your contract than those people who beat thousands by singing live each week, and don't forget to say they get unfair promotion and that you aren't manufactured * how do you feel being compared to XXXX? * what do you think to Britney/Christinia/anyone else who started being famous when they were a teenager growing up and not being a teenager? * do you like The Darkness? * hands up who loves Beyonce

I like CD:UK, but preferred it in the Ant and Dec days when I really liked Saturday Morning tv.
Saturday mornings are overrated.

The only time I ever watch these days is if there's someone I like performing or a video exclusive I want to see.
I think everything about TOTP Saturday is corny, the worst bit is when Fearne says something like 'Ooh! What's this? Oh, it's the Maybe video by NERD! I love this song. Oh, let's watch it!'
I don't think many people are interested in watching videos they've seen over and over on music channels, the only time they sould play music videos on these type of shows is if it's a first play.
CD:UK on the other hand is watchable as they're news is sometimes rare and they usally have an interview with someone good. I also think the Hotshots review thing is cool as it's nice to see what so-and-so thinks of so-and-so. Also they're performances are shot well, whereas on TOTP Saturday the camera zooms in and out every 3 seconds and if it's pre-recorded they usally put some kind of stupid effect on it.

I do find Top of the pops Saturday quite unwatchable at times- Fearnes over enthusiasm often falls into the category of irritating, rather then infectious. The links and interviews are often embarrasing and tedious. They do however have a tendancy of having brand new videos and on set reports with people I like, so sometimes it has to be watched. I still find CD:UK great though- granted, Cat can be silly sometimes (again, her over enthusiasm over The Darkness and most indie bands isn't very infectious) but on the whole its a good pop show- and one of the best we have.

I personally prefer TOTP Saturday. I don't know why, I just prefer it to cd:uk.
The problem with cd:uk is that they seem so bothered by 'news' and interviews and then just stick a few performances in between. The only higlight on cd:uk is Hotshots and the odd performance (too diverse to appeal to everyone I think).
TOTP Saturday on the other hand has On The Spot, that cringe-worthyly cheesy lift thing, Pop Skool, (usually) great performances. What's more TOTP Saturday has more of a 'yes we know only 6 year olds and people with hangovers are watching' feel to it, whereas cd:uk tries to be 'cool'. Example: the Cheeky Dog feature. cd:uk wouldn't touch that with a ten foot barge pole, but TOTP just don't care.
I keep getting images of Cheeky Dog holding a rope in his mouth (Lassie style) from which the Cheeky Girls are hanging as they try to claw their way out of the dumper.
Also, no-one with my second name presents cd:uk, whereas TOTP Saturday however has the almighty Cottmeister.

I prefer TOTP Sat too. It is much more fun and the fact that it does have all of the acts that CD:UK doesn't have makes it camper and more entertaining. I also like the variations they have on performances by throwing in a few special effects. Nice.
I love Fearne, she's comic genius gone nuts.

I hate the hotshots bit. It's full of twats making twatish (should that have a double t? and should I care?)remarks egged on by Cat to be even more twattish. (Which is it to be?)

When there are decent artists on with decent opinions then it's a decent segment (triple d). Hit, Miss or Maybe used to be good on L&K 'til people stopped being honest and guests felt they didn't want to upset other artists (ususally on the same label or having the same management) by telling the truth.

TOTP Saturday is great if only because it's the only way for me to find out about what you're all discussing here (D-side, Phixx, Rachel Stevens or Girls Aloud don't exist in Belgium). Still it may be sometimes a bit embarrassing to watch since it's so obviously marketed to children but I quite like Fearne Cotton too in a oh-so-ironic kind of way. I never saw CD:Uk.
