Has anyone else noticed the genius of having Jamelia on the Hot Shots sofa?
Whenever she's on there, she kicks off -- she tells it how it is, annoucing that 'everybody knows Hear'say were crap'; she was fuming with that DJ bloke for slagging off Girls Aloud. She blatently loves Hot Shots so much, I like to pretend it's the only reason she goes on CD:UK.
I would like to see her on there as a regular.
Plus! Cat? Dog.

It was funny that she said Hearsay were crap, but the reason she gave for them being crap was they weren't successful and the reason she said Girls Aloud must be good is that they had sold lots of records, but Hearsay sold loads more records than Girls Aloud. If she was going to back Girls Aloud she should have come up with a better reason than 'sold well' and 'can sing', especially in a debate about reality tv music because the almost all sell well to start with and with the exception of The Cheeky Girls 'can sing'. Most critisisms of tv show people is that being able to sing is not enough, and selling well is handed to you on a plate, so she should have come up with something better. There are lots of better reasons for liking Girls Aloud and the best answer should have been that Popstars was over a year ago and it's not fair to blame them because Simon Cowell made someone cry on a completely different tv show altogether.
It was funny that the man was complaining that it's wrong to be abusive for the sake of good tv, and therefore he couldn't accept Girls Aloud, but he was going to be horrible about them on tv in a section that overlooks the music to bring controversy.

I felt a bit sorry for him. In a vain attempt, to show that he understood the industry well, he proved his ignorance of it. OT: Cat asks the most useless questions. The 'Asian pop crossing over to the mainstream' was a difficult one without going through the history of pop trends.

Jamelia is great on it.
But what did Cat's question about the Asin Music Scene have anything to do with Girls Aloud?

Which songs did she review, and what was her opinions on them? *Cheeky* It's a bit cheeky to think that anyone might review and give opinions on the actual videos during the Hotshots section of CDUK, as Cat goes out of her way to lead the panel away from that, but the videos reviewed were The Streets and Girls Aloud. The Streets video wasn't reviewed at all, because they didn't have it, so they showed him singing the new song on CDUK recently and asked if the public would accept Mr Streets singing a sappy song. The Streets were deemed Ace, but the panel didn't have much choice from the way Cat phrased the questions. That's when the bloke who wasn't Jamelia or from McFly got asked about Asian music crossing-over. Of course. He said it was patronising for people to call Mr Street the British Eminem, just because they are both white. He got asked first about Girls Aloud and it went back to all the usual what do you think of reality tv pop music and bloke said it was all unacceptable because the point of the tv shows were to make girls cry for ratings and something along the lines of when Will sang Evergreen you could see he was crying on the inside, and it was a dreadful being forced to sing it and and how awful it was for him and the public. I know Will isn't keen on the song, but I've never understood how expecting someone to release a pop song following Pop Idol is evil. Jamelia made the valid point that it wouldn't have sold so well if everyone hated it and how that should be respected and that Girls Aloud wouldn't have sold well if they weren't good. Bloke tried to make-out that was the point he'd wanted to make all along. Jamelia said everyone knew that Hearsay were crap and that's why they didn't do well, but you can't say that for Girls Aloud. This could be why I get wound up during the Hotshots thing, because it's not that the popstars are (all) thick, but they are popstars and not internet and chart geeks like us, so they say stupid things like that. If I'd have been asked about Girls Aloud I'd have said 'who cares where they come from, their new song is jolly good, and the video is a good laugh. They had to fight hard to get into the band during Popstars and once it finished they had to keep fighting to get over the stigma, so stop harping on about it'. If I'd been asked about The Streets I'd have said 'why are we reviewing the video when you aren't showing the video?' Then I'd have said 'of course Mr Streets can do a sappy song. Working class, hard men, geezer types can be sappy too, why do you think Wonderwall is so popular? America's answer to Mr Streets, Eminem has successfully sung emotional songs too'.
