She's the latest in Chav music. I have just had the misfortune of hearing the song and seeing the video. It's like Jentina only much, much worse. Lady Sovereign has an adidas tracksuit on and is 'rapping'. It is awful.
I don't know how long it's been out, but I do know this is a lot worse than Jentina. Has anyone else seen it? Thoughts on it?

I adore Lady Sovereign but I haven't seen this yet. If it's anything like Jentina then I don't want to, no offence.

This song is so rubbish it should be sold in black plastic bags. How much longer will she persist with her non-career? This is too obviously commercial for either of the people who bought her previous singles. Everyone else will give it the cold shoulder it so richly deserves. Go away!

Oh I did love Random. It was one of the best things ever. That malevolent poison dwarf rapping in that nasty wee voice and of course who could forget the amazing Sad Arse Strippa? Sov still gets asked about it - at Wireless I watched Simon Astell and Sov take the P out of poor Jentina. It must be on the album, if there is a God it must be!
Actually, has anyone heard the Random Riko mix? It takes Jentina bashing to a whole new level where Sov has her rapper mate Riko phone from Brixton Prison where he proceeds to threaten Jentina and all British rappers that think they're Americans. Then Lady Sovereign attempts to copy the video to Sad Ass Strippa along with her gang and take the mick.
And I've heard a rumour that Lady Sov namechecks a certain Betty Boo in one of her songs. Please let it be a compliment.

'9 to 5' is brilliant, idiots. Video isn't great, but she's got such an exciting presence' that anything she's on is just incredibly compelling.
If you join the VIP bit on ladysovereign.com (free registration), you can see the full video and hear the recent-ish 'Bitchin EP' which didn't get a full release but is thoroughly ace. Especially 'Tango'.

Now I love Jentina (In a comedy value laced with morbid fascination kinda way) But Sad Arse Strippa never ceases to amaze me with it's, well amazingness. More Ghetto in posh spice's stilletto? Genius- even out weighing Jentina's own(!) effort of 'You'll be gettin'jiggy when ya listen to ma rythm- like every dam cell block in ya prison'. I'd love to see them in a rap off (Ok so that's probably not what it would be called but I'm not one to move in those circles) Obviously Jentina would be too stunned to reply with anything witty/ at all- but therein lies the (hypothetical) fun!

P.S. I got a bit carried away there- I haven't heard 9 to 5, but I'm guessing an urban reworking of Dolly is off the cards.

It's truly, truly awful. And for someone who has based her career on calling someone else 'fake', this is a straight down the line sell out. It's so poppy, even Verbalicious would have passed this up, and for someone who is supposedly so 'street', is quite embarassing. This is her first release on a major, hence the selling out - watch this flop horrendously.
As for the 'presence' - I saw her at Wireless, and it was like someone had let their little sister sneak on the stage. No presence whatsoever, and the crowd weren't interested in the slightest, prompting sov to throw a couple of v's before leaving the stage. She has a song called 'Public Warning' though, which is fairly decent.

I've seen it. Pure genius. It really is. The best bit has to be the mutant rabbits wearing t-shirts with Sov's face on them and of course the models with the Adidas tracksuits. What I love too is how Lady Sovereign could only be British...you wouldn't get a video like that in the US of A and if she were American her video would be filled with blinged up morons going on about 'strippin' or whatever. This whole person-less-rich-and-brilliant-than-me thing goes over my head too. Girls Aloud could be considered people-less-rich-and-brilliant-than-me. No matter the image at least Lady Sovereign will keep her look and not hit reset if (or unkindly, when) this song fails. She won't attempt to become Kylie Minogue and get her tits out for the lads and get Cathy sodding Dennis to rewrite Toxic into a paen for anorexia. I get a feeling Storm and thisisnotatest are bitter that Jentina's had her career ruined by Lady Sovereign (and herself) but please, you cannot stand in the way of pop genius like this. And even if she 'has no presence' who cares? She's barely 18. If anything her performance at Wireless was still a thousand times better than Jentina's at MTV Base, which rewrote the meaning to the word 'Incompetent'. Give Sov time and she may evolve into something rather brilliant. And if it helps (not that it will with a few here) The Streets adores her and Eminem is rumoured to love her as well. So please don't disparage this wonderful poison dwarf of pop. Love her. Make her an idol and reject blond bimbos that attempt to fuck their way to the top only to see their singles flop. Note: Actually, did anyone spot the Sad Arse Strippa reference in the video? Note Two: I've also heard Verbalicious is a target of a diss circulating the net but I can't find it. This makes me sad.

I get a feeling Storm and thisisnotatest are bitter that Jentina's had her career ruined by Lady Sovereign I can't speak for Storm. But I'd be very surprised indeed if he finds that comment any less hilarious than I did. Lady Sovereign can only dream of such influence. The one career she has any power to ruin is her own - though in that case, she is due congratulations on a job well done. Removing the batteries from her Fisher-Price My First Mixing Desk might be a start.

Or you could burn your copy of 'A-Z Of Crap Insults'. I would take you more seriously if you hadn't adored French Kisses as much as you did.

A girl called Lady Sovereign met up with this man named Jay-Z. Ess-Oh-Vee and Jiggaman were catching up when LA Reid popped into say hi, followed soon after by the one like Usher and new Def Jam hitstress, Tiarra. After a bout of chilling the Lady Sovereign is asked to off load her weight in verses, acappella style. Three mean 32's later and the all-star audience can't wait to hear more. An hour on head honcho Jay-Z gives Sovereign his full backing ("she has an amazing personality") and states that he'll organise her studio time and "start cutting some tracks" with The Neptunes & Missy Elliot... Chapter 2 to follow, but this ladies and gentlemen is a true story.taken from: www.chantellefiddy.blogspot.com

She's ripping America to shreds with her talent but her sales here are pissy. Oh well! I hope she releases that killer single that does well for her.
