Hey everyone!
Not only is Bananarama performing this coming Saturday at G-A-Y, but they are also doing Top of the Pops on Sunday! It's the first time since 1992 when they sang Movin' On!
How glorious, indeed!!!!!!

P.S. Remember to e-mail your favourite DJ and request the new song, Move In My Direction! Thanks!

No idea. But there has been some press lately that Bananarama never had a #1 in the UK, even though Venus went to #1 in 8 countries, including the US! I wish Popjustice would launch a campaign to help the Nanas get the #1 they deserve! I loved Popjustice's campaign last fall to get Bananarama in Band Aid 20. Although after hearing it, I'm glad they weren't in it!!

TOTP might be good after all. I will need to set some kind of alarm to remember to watch it.

I agree about the campaign idea. We need the awesome power of PJ thrusting behind the Nanas!

Great news! All the promo for this single seems to be pretty cool, so fingers crossed it'll do quite well. Love the tune and, of course, the nanas. PJ Your Nanas Need You!

The girls were great! They still don't look very excited about it all, but that's why I love em. They looked hot and it's a tune. How well do people think it'll do on the chart?

They sounded like live vocals to me, and pretty good ones at that! Keren certainly said 'thanks very much' at the end.

The general opinion in other places does indeed indicate Live Vocals! Is it wrong to get a little be excited over 2 peole old enough to be your mum?

It certainly was live vocals and not half bad either. Loved the way they didn't look too excited to be back and were as slightly hopeless with the dance routine as ever. It's genius to have them back!!
I saw them at Butlins last year and they were quality. I wonder if they're too big for Butlins again now?!

What I loved about Bannanarama and still do is that their production values are so crap they sound like a punk group trying to do pop music. I loved the song and I will buy it even if my favourite member left years ago.

They were fantastic. As Dr Bastard has said, half the charm behind the Nanas were that they do pop with that all-important 'botherd' attitude. They were always joyously aware of their own limitations and made no effort to paper over the cracks. Take their cover of Nathan Jones, for example. They hit about one right note in three for three minutes and it doesn't matter because the song still sounds brilliant.
It was the highlight of an otherwise woeful hotch-potch of a Show. I dearly hope this goes Top Ten, though I'm not sure whether the Crazy Frog buyers will quite *get* it. Roll on the album.

It's genius to have them back!! Oh dear. I seriously wonder about this website sometimes. Yes we all want "Popjustice" but the criteria for it is that the very best of pop should be given the respect it deserves. 80's Bananarama are one of my favourite bands ever, with endless true pop classics and respect should definitely be given. 00's Bananarama coming out of retirement to make fools of themselves does not qualify. Now I'm huge 'Nana fan, and actually have known all 4 of the girls at one time or another but they were awful. It's all very well being shambolically bored and under rehearsed when you are young and taking the piss, but to actually make a comeback on the back of a very minimal talent and non existent dancing skills is just kind of sad. I think we all agree that the best thing about The 'Rams is that they didn't care and brought a punk spirit to top class pop songs. Move In My Direction is not a top class pop song (It's a Kylie album track at best) and there complete lack of singing and dancing ability just shows how lucky thye were to pull it off 25 years ago. I was really looking forward to seeing them and certainly hoped for top class performance whilst bad singing, shambolic dancing, bored expressions are endearing on 20 something pop starlets 2 mums in there mid 40's trying to pull of the same trick doesn't work, it just reeks of desperation. Thank god Jacquie and Shiv (The two who actually can sing well) have kept there dignity.
