That was quality with him calling mariah myleene. That was such an awkward interview!
Great chart - Alex at no 4!
Storming performance from tatu, but the wigged ones cleavage was way too orange and glittery!
Pitts was a little iffy in places!

Oh dear....
Well Lauren Laverne was genius and seems to be carrying the Middlemiss school of pop sarcasm torch very well but she must be wondering what's she done to end up lumbered with the other two.
Jonny P was hopeless. And Myleene needs restraining, she's so overexcitable. She can't do autocue and she's just hopeless. I reckon they'll both be gone by December and only Lauren'll survive.
The Mariah interview was excrutiating.

Whoever came up with the idea of the Land's End feature needs to be shot. Jonny was crap, but I liked Mylene. She needs a bit more experience, but she's bright enough to think on her feet.
The Mariah fans were too noisy and screechy for someone with a hangover. The busy new Popword set didn't help.

Just give Lauren (she's great) the gig and leave the other two.

Johnny just seemed incredibly nervous. Hopefully he will grow into his role as he seems like a nice boy, and is not entirely ugly either. He needs to spend a bit more time looking at the camera instead of Myleene.
I quite liked it as a whole, although the Mariah interview was absolutely, cringingly awful. I couldn't bear to watch it and eventually had to turn over until it was finished.

It wasn't just down to the interviewers either. The what advice would you give feature would have been a dud regardless. Didn't they practice on someone?

I'm loving the new CD:UK...thank you ITV for finally axeing Dave Berry...and LAUREN LAVERNE IS ON IT NOW! YAY! She is so gorgeous...she read out my text on the show once, in which I laid into Charlie Simpson. Myleene is quite cute. And Johny P is actually not a bad bloke. Better than I thought he would be. Well done guys!

Johny Pitts needs practice. Other than that, good show, and I'm liking the chart, good to see Kelly as the first #1.

I think the new look CD:UK is abit naff really, it's lost its CD:UK pop charm'ness!

Didn't realise today's was the first of the new look. I was on tour last week so assumed I'd missed the first one! Therefore we should reserve judgement a little.
No we shouldn't. Jonny Pitts was just too awful to even put into words. He fluffled everyline. He made Tim Kash look like a likeable presenter. He may just about manage with pre-recorded things like Jamie Theakston used to be ok with on The Ozone but live and direct he was diabolical!
Myleen was better than I feared. Did we really need five minutes spent looking at her in the papers though? Why waste time like this and then rush an interview with arguably the most popular female popstar in the entire world!!!
I was very impressed with Lauren, especially her McCartney interview and the fact that she seemed so relaxed and able to ad-lib during the live show.
Jonny MUST go and we don't really need Myleene so give it a few weeks and then let Lauren fly the flag solo.
It was better than the new Saturday TOTP but I didn't care for the chart thing.

Can we not scrap every presenter on every music show, and just get Simon and Miquita to present them all?

If you'd asked me last week I might have said yes, but I thought Miquitta and even Simon were both sub-standard on Popworld and the whole T4 thing yesterday. The comedy value of rambling on about not having enough time to say what they'd just said wore thin.

By the way, was this the first TV interview by Westlife since Mark came out? He seemed rather uncomfortable with the questions about whether he was pressured into it, and gave a weak smile. Still, he and Shane looked jolly cute.
I loved Lauren's question about pie slices representing covers and original songs. She is wonderful.

I went to that! yAy! Go me! It was moderately brilliant.
If Myleene said "girly gossip" anymore times, I would've slapped her.
Johnny is nice enough, but is pretty usless.
Lauren, is of course, an absolute legend.
Charlie was brill. I'm so glad Westlife didn't perfrom. Kanye looks weird in real life. tATu are amazing! End of!
Mariah took about an hour and a half after the show having the crew arsing around with a set change for the tapings of next week's performance that were supposed to only take 20 minutes. Mariah just doesn't look real. I don't why, she just doesn't.
Anyway, that's all irrelevant. What you all really want to know is how Julia from tATu signed a little postcard for lots of people and looked a little bit pissed off and was smoking and was majorly majorly small.
Then I saw Lena walking out of the studio and waved like a crazy mad man and got a smile and a nod that made me the happiest I've ever been I think. Other Greg talked some russian to Julai and she kind of half smiled at him. And Greg missed Lena, despite me desperately trying to get his attention.
And Lauren said hi to me. And I got Myleene to write "Liberty X 4eva" on a little postcard for me.

Mariah has an awesome voice and can write/knows people who write great songs but she has no personality. She is only funny in part with her diva style stuff as she doesn't mean to be funny, if anyone's still with me! Her at Live 8 was so comical! As I said above the interview made me cringe

I thought the new CD:UK was... boring... Lauren was ok, Myleene repeated herself and at one pt she looked half the height of Lauren which was amusing... then that other guy... hmm, I didn't like his random scetch thing he does. The new chart thing is stupid, and they just need to get away from bumming McFly (yes have them on, but within reason, its getting very tedious...) and get back to the varied music show it once was.
I am glad they have kept the nice black feel...

What was with Myleene going on about gossip all the time? Does she want a column in Heat or something?
It was alright, Lauren was totally class (of course she was, she's Lauren Laverne!) Poor her being lumbered with those two. Johny P was a bit of a waste of space and Myleene would have been ok if she hadn't been as annoying.

Hmm - i'm gonna be controversial here, but I think Lauren was the worst choice in all this. Hear me out. I know she's a great presenter, and the average person on here (fairly intelligent, able to string a sentence together) will absolutely love her because she's quirky and clever and funny.
But the average 14 year old girl watching it will hate her - they'll see her as an a too cool for school older sister who'd laugh at the music you like, and ridicule you for not being cool enough. She's far too clever a presenter for CDUK.
They should paid all the tea in china to keep Nikki Sanderson.

I'm sat here watching the new CD:UK for the first time, and I'm appalled by what's happened to it. Whoever said further upthread that it's lost all of its charm hit the nail on the head - it's looking so amateurish now. Myleene and Johny P are just embarrassing - I feel sorry for Lauren having to hold the whole thing together.

Johny P's famous namesake thing was piss poor. thankfully i missed that part of the show last week - alas i wasn't so lucky this week.

Lauren = Class. Carrying the show. Definitely the new Jayne Middlemiss of the '00s.
Myleene = The jury is still out. Has potential but is trying too hard & is getting on my nerves.
Johnny P = P45. If that is the best male pop TV presenter that CD:UK/ITV can get then god help us!!!

I actually thought Jonny P was the strongest today. I mean, he fluffed his lines a few times, and still seems incredibly nervous, but he' s so much 'warmer' than the other two - I imagine there's a legion of teenage girls throughout Britain that have already fallen in love with him. I think, given time, he could be very, very good.
Lauren is much better than I thought she would be - less condescending and sarcastic, and genuinely witty. She looks great, and if she keeps it up, could be a huge success,
Jury's still out on Myleene - I thought some of her precorded stuff, the 50 cent interview for example, were quite good - she's certainly competent. But in the studio, she doesn't seem as 'warm' as the other two. I'm not sure if that's beacuse they're both Northerners, and she comes accross sort of more 'posh' than the other two, but it's defo somehting she'll have to work on..........
