Well, she was such an anti-climax for me. I've heard so many good things about her and how she apparently has a vocal range that could compete with Ms Aguilera. Well, as it goes i thought she sounded quite crap and strained, i couldnt hear her for the best part of the peformance. So.. is she quite crap live always or was it just a crap setup?

When she stands still and sings, she's great. Otherwise, I just enjoyed seeing her get all wet and sexy.

Well she can get as wet and sexy as she wants but being the big gay that i am i wasnt very impressed.
However, at the Height of Geri's career i did enjoy the campness of Geri getting wet in the Raining Men video.

She said she was just gonna go out and have fun. She was on a high from winning 2 awards and the amount of times she has sung that song she probably didn't care about being in tune. And it was great. And the crowd was singing along.

I thought it was a brilliant performance- totally electric. I'd love to see her on tour.

I did see her tour, and she performed "Since U..." second out of the gate, which quite surprised me.
It's obviously a hugely rangey song, and she didn't seemed warmed up--it took her half the song, but then she positively WAILED on it. In the middle of the show she sang a few covers, including "Sweet Dreams" by Eurythmics. If Christina had been there, she'd be shaking in her stilettoed thigh-highs--Kelly sang it up an octave at the end, and I threw up a little it was so good.
But I was shocked out how horrible she sounded at the VMAs. She has recently postponed her remaining tour dates for vocal stress, however, so it could simply be the case of a strained larynx. I was afraid she'd blow her voice out at the rate she as going.

It was quite terrible. On a lot of the UK performances she's was trying to perform with a lot more grit to her voice, unfortunately that meant she was shouting a lot of the time.
I believe (I might be wrong) she was recovering from laryngitis at the time, so she could be excused.
Still, she's had that many good performances that a couple of bad ones now and again aren't going to tarnish her reputation.
PS: Kelly, when are you coming to tour the UK? I have my credit card at the ready.

I've seen a few performances by her where she sounds as if she really, really, really needs to give her voice a rest. She's got a brilliant voice and it would be a shame to ruin it, or her reputation by over-doing it.
I've heard her version of Sweet Dreams. It was amazing.

I'm glad others agree that the performance was simply awful. Her British promo was really bad too.
Fair enough if it's down to vocal problems but she didn't help herself by acting like a nutter and screaming notes instead of singing them... I'd love to see her on tour, but I wanna see she can actually sing first.

I <3 Kelly Clarkson. The sounds quality of all the VMA performances was appaling. I think Kelly was really starinign her voice just so that she could be heard. Plus, of course, she was leaping around all over the place I laughed audibly at this

She's amazing live. She recently cancelled some tour dates because of brochitis (I think that was the reason) and that's rumoured to be the reason why she didn't sound great at the VMA's. Anyone who wants to hear a great live performance from her just needs to listen to the live version of "beautiful disaster" on her latest album.
