The MC was on last night performing get your number. It's a bit crap really. All she does is breathe loudly over the guy rapping. I rarely catch it now it's on Sundays and god Cotton is awful.

Andi Peters has left now, hasn't he? He's returning to his first love: presenting TV shows where the puppet is the talent. Andi was there at this afternoon's recording of next weeks TOTP...talking to the floor manager about something i couldn't quite hear. Probably about how to remove the scary Son of Dork obsessive crazies. was a good show - (due to be shown on 0ct 2nd) we had Nickleback, Ms Dynamite, Star Sailor, Happy Mondays and Son of Dork. All did good performances and i actually enjoyed being there which makes a change from these sort of recordings. SoD were very good and played up to the cameras well as did Bez who just kept leaping in front of Shaun everytime they tried to get a close up shot of him (shaun). one thing that did intrigue me was that Jeremy Bowen (newsreader - totp guest presenter) filmed a link announcing that the Sugababes were number one. as this is next weeks show he's either psychic, predicting the single sales or totp will make the sugababes #1 anyway!

Sorry to drag this up again but a 9-minute performance by Green Day? Exactly how much clout does Fearne Cotton have? Next week: Son of Dork half-hour special in which they play all their hits, introduce us to their grandparents and spit roast Cotton's faux punk ass. www.nme.com/news/green-day/21388

When TOTP prerecord a show they do a couple of links/endings to cover all likely options...seems weird when no singles have been sold but they did the same for McFly - one normal intro and one number one intro, just in case. They wont have time to go back adn record anything midweek and nor will they be able to get guest presenters back.

i went to this - queued for friggin hours but was worth it as we were only in the second row and got eleven songs, which will apparently be shown sometime soon on the beeb. (Also got Billie Joe's plectrum which meant we got interviewed for Radio 1 and consequently embarrased ourselves to however many million people during every radio1 news broadcast yesterday....)

There was something similar a few weeks ago, when Arctic Monkeys got to #1, and they hadn't recorded a link saying they would be, they just had "what a great performance" after their video.

This idea is stupid. Even though they sell, I tend to doubt that adults will make appointment TV to sit down and watch the latest performance or video premiere from Coldplay or James Blunt. They just don't care. The kids will actually watch.
The new TOTP Reloaded seems a bit more pop-oriented though; maybe that's what the 'old' one is going to become.
Disclaimer: I've never seen an episode of Top of the Pops. I can't pay like $50 for the digital cable package that has BBC America when that's basically the only thing i'd watch on it, and I think they took it off anyway.

Thats the week I meant..I only saw the intro they filmed atthe time for McFly as number one but then I slipped out of the studio without seeing the one shown on tv

I had a sort of revelation while watching TOTP last week. Johnny Borrell (of Razorlight) is the reincarnation of Mark Knopfler. The same smug smile on the same slightly porky face.. In ten years's time he'll be singing about refrigerators... Mark my word.
