Ok, I know this hasn't been put on to the music channels as yet, but they have been showing it on the McFLY tour, so if you've seen it what did you think?
Unsurprisingly the video is incredibly Americanised, which is obviously no great surprise as James would probably want to be American if he could be! Apart from that it was pretty amusing, in a music video type way anyway, and it definitely fits with the song.
And I did like the Star Wars intro bit before they showed it that did amuse me!

Apparently there's a dig at Charlie in that intro, saying something about being shot down by a "rogue Fightstar"...

Yeah, there is.
It was something along the lines of James having escaped from the planet Busted which had been destroyed by a rogue fightstar.
Not that he's bitter of course.

I want to see that intro video
I've seen a (pirated) video of the video which was terribly bad quality but it looked really good, from what I could make out.
I still can't work out James' feelings towards Charlie. One minute he makes a very negative sounding comment, the next, he doesn't seem to care, then he's being nice about him.

Thats because James is a wank.
I've seen it and think the song and video is alot of bollocks. Such american wannabe pop punk and it doesnt help when a My Chemical Romance reject is in the band.

I see he's been using the time since Busted split to perfect his American accent

He's probably just over the whole thing and realised he's got his new band to concentrate on. No point him being in SOD and crying about Busted. Besides, he reckons SOD are like Busted but better so he's obviously really happy. Another amusing thing is on their (quite amazing looking) website, James's profile reads: Best moment of your life so far: Winning 2 Brits. Worst moment of your life so far: Err..... Larf.

I'm liking the sound of it already. Changing the subject, when is Matt gonna be back on the music scene? He was always my favourite. xxx

The last I heard was that he was in rehab, and despite my crawling of various gossipy sites, no news as of yet. James apparently said that Charlie 'was just trying to make a point' by being in Fightstar. Of course, this was on drownedinsound.com so if you're pop, you're a cunt.

James saying Charlie was 'trying to prove a point' is actually from an interview he did with Kerrang. Unsurprisingly Victoria Newton et al have picked up on this bit and are trying to manipulate it into an argument. However if you read the whole of the interview with James, he goes on to say that it's understandable but not something he would want to do. Considering it's in Kerrang it's actually quite a decent read and James handles the questions quite well, bless him.
As for Matt, I've heard various rumours, one about him writing an autobiography (I would definitely read that!) and another about him performing solo material on Record of the Year when that comes around again, as usually the band that won the previous year perform and obviously Busted are no more. That's most likely bollocks though! The only concrete piece of news I've heard about him recently is that he, Emma and James were at McFLY's first Wembley date on Friday night.

Does it bother any of you that Son of Dork are manufactured? - that James is still using the sucess of his 'previous' management company Prestige by having his new bands video played at every Mcfly arena show possible - what happened to hard work? - touring like hell everyday to build up a fan base, yes James did this with Busted, but still.............Son of Dork have took the easy way out.................yes its a good single, but it does sound waaaay too much like a song off Enema of The State (Blink 182) and Sum 41's song - Summer.
Other than that, good luck to them.
Harf.

i love matt but writting an auto biog... he's not old enough forr that is he! he's done more than most 22 year olds but not THAT much.
personally i think shitestart r terrible, SOD are a bit of a busted rip off (if busted decided they wanted to be lamer) and matt is the only 1 i can see doing anything decent musically!

James had a ready made fanbase, moreso than Fightstar as SoD's material isn't going to be that much of a departure from Busted's, so why put in the 'hard graft' if you don't have to? I certainly don't think they've taken the easy way out. It's not like they could've built up a fanbase slowly what with the amount of publicity surrounding the Busted split and what they were each going to do next, even if they had wanted to. If anything, there's more pressure on them to do well than most new bands as Busted were so successful.

I've just seen it again after seeing it at McFLY on Sunday and I think I'm being won over. When I first heard the live version of the song, weeks ago now, I wasn't sure after a few listens but I like it now. The video is such an american teen comedy thing but I think it works. It reminds me so much of The Offspring's Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) video but maybe that was one of the aims.

When is the Son Of Dork video going to be shown on tv?
I want to see just how american James can actually get. He even speaks like he's from the US. I bloody hate it but am keen o see what the video is like and what Son Of Dork are like.

I'm a little dismayed at the Americanisms this band seem to wrap themselves within BUT....
It's reeks of sheer freshness next to the stale and stuck up McFly. And they seem like they're having a good time. Bravo!

I love it. The video, the song, the band, the whole package is great.
I think they did really well in the mini interview - came across as really light hearted, especially Dave..... I like him........and his hair.

I was just pointing it out in case you didn't know, if you break the rules then your account might get deleted, so I was pointing it out so yours wouldn't. I won't bother next time then. Anywaaaaaaay; saw the Son of Dork video this morning. Four times. I think it's ace, I love them, the video suits the song well and Dave is very pretty to look at. But does anyone know why they took off the "Planet Busted being distroyed by a Rogue Fightstar" thing?

I agree with Dr B to a certain degree. There is a real freshness and excitement to it. I saw it on one of the video channels. At first, I didn't like it, but by the end of the video I was totally won over.

When will they realise they are not america or new found glory & simple plan. Gil Norton deserves to produce a better band than this shite.

As for the intro thing, I assume it was only there for pre-video build up and excitement on the McFLY tour. Shame it's not a permanent thing though, I didn't get to read it properly at the time!
