Okay so it's not actually started yet on channel 4 but thanks to Sky News, the top ten has already been released.
I don't want to give it all away so i'll speak in the numbers instead of names.
Number 1 doesn't surprise me in the least Number 2 is predictable although not someone I'd immediatley have thought of Number 3 is just boring Number 4 is a surprise Number 5 isn't Numbers 6,7,8 and 9 seem totally out of place and Number 10 seems too low down.
Obviously that makes no sense to anyone who hasn't seen the list but just wanted to air my opinions.

1 is pretty obvious but bloody depressing 2 snore 3 ironic that she is higher than 4 who is the only genuinely interesting 'pop' star on there 5 bigger than boyzone 6 bigger than melua 7 bigger than their respective solo careers 8 holy moly! 9 welsh snore 10 weren't they big in the 90s?

I noticed that only James was featured on the part about Busted - oh, and the drummer.
Where the fuck is the Willis?!

Dear Louis Walsh
Since they went in at #25 in this poll can you stop pretending Girls Aloud are the best girl-group in the country when the Sugababes obviously are.

#25 - they did have a three year head start though.

I checked out the top 50 just now.
How come Il Divo are so low? I thought they were one of the best sellers of 2004 and to a lesser extent this year too. I would've thought they'd sold far more than the likes of Nickelback, 50 Cent and Atomic Kitten.

I was amazed to see that David Gray was left off, but then I remembered that White Ladder was released in 1999 and not reissued (hence why Dido's so high because No Angel was reissued), and his two albums since haven't sold enough.

I was surprised that S Club 7 scraped into the top 20. I also thought Madonna was surprisingly low down. And even though I dislike them I was expecting McFly to make an appearance somehere.

I was extremely disheartened that Maroon 5 were in the list at all, although I suppose it was to be expected. And isn't Russell Watson a nob?

Russell Watson said fuck in that programme, which is all shades of wrong.
I liked the comment someone made about U2 or Oasis (or both) being music for people who don't like a music and just keep buying the new album for the sake of it. It was only about 10 seconds long though, but it should've lasted a good half an hour.

#25 - they did have a three year head start though. Head starts didn't matter much to Busted and S club 7- S club were around for what, 5 years, releasing 4 albums and a greatest hits, and yet were only one place higher then Busted, around for less the two years and with 2 albums released.

Bloody Stereophonics- they shouldn't even be in a top fifty Welsh bands programme- or maybe doctors have been perscribing them instead of sleeping tablets

Yep, the deadline was October 11th, just too late for Taller In More Ways. I'm sure Chemistry will sell enough to get GA into the next Top 50, not as high as the Sugababes, but at least on it.

They discounted one of this other albums as well, because it had old songs in it, so they treated it as if it was a Greatest Hits album even though they weren't great hits the first time round. GHs albums weren't allowed either. Not that I'm a big fan of Mr Gray's, but if they'd counted all of his sales this century, he'd have been comfortably within the top 5, which makes this all a bit misleading.
