Has anyone seen this video, seems like this confirms Luxurios is the new single. Very hot video but why the rapper in the middle Ms Stefani, she almost makes lip liner work, almost but not quite

I fucking hate this song, the video is shit, and she looks ugly as all fuck in it.
Story line? Gwen has money, she likes candy, even a song with her name on it can't help that rapper.

Is she lying in some sweets at one point? If so do you think she stole that idea from Lolly?
I like the Gwen album but this song would be one of my least liked and I couldn't even remember how it went before I'd seen the video. Bad choice of single when there were much more obvious contenders like "Serious" or "The Real Thing".

The song is indeed crap but the video is very good. Extremely colourful. Love the end but with the piniata (sp) and her in kahloesque mexican clothing.

My least favourite song off L.A.M.B. Anything would have been better than this, there were so many potential hit singles that have been wasted. Really like the video though.

Agree agree and agree. Why couldn't she have released Crash? Bubble Pop Electric? Or my favourite, the amazing Danger Zone? (As a side note, does anyone else think her vocals sound like Kate Bush in the Danger Zone chorus? And doesn't 'Cool' sound like it could've been Cindy Lauper? The 80s influence is all soobvious. And so very now.)
The Record company has picked the most vaguely 'urban' songs in my opinion for the US market - especially the Dre & Neptunes tracks - poor chioces in my eyes, but she sells well so what do I know?

Unfortunately, that's what works over here. Her 80s-type singles "What You Waiting For" and "Cool" underperformed, and her more urban songs like "Rich Girl" and "Hollaback Girl" were huge. The album is surging up again in sales after stagnating for awhile, so it seems like "Luxurious" is working, although I absolutely HATE the original. And since everyone involved is lazy, they'll release the same songs over in the UK too.
I reccomend the remix featuring Ludacris, however. Even though it does feature a rapper, it's actually much more fun and poppy than the original. I actually like it that way.

Like Duhhhh, the fact she is lying in sweets made to look like diamonds and gold etc, is supposed to be ironic and show she has her tongue planted firmly in her cheek, with regards to the high value she SINGS about placing on gold/ diamonds/ money. She is obviously a very sweet flower child at heart!
Plus, the song is not shit per ce, she has simply chosen to go down an Rn'B route in order to show the album's versitility and crossover appeal to a "cooler" audience who don't neccesarily find the pure pop tracks (of the early singles) to be credible.
The pop demographic are already aware of the album's charms, and as a pop fan I like to discover some "Gems" on an artist's album that are kind of secret and more meaningful on a personal level because, those who have not commited to buy the album will never know about them and quite frankly they don't deserve to!
The opposing argument is that an artist who releases EVERY good track as a single from an album, is desperately scraping the bottom of the barrel and the artist ends up being perceived as a singles based artist (as opposed to an album based artist like Gwen). Singles based artists traditionally hav

e a shorter career span, get less respect as musicians and their albums are always less satisfying to the listener because there is nothing left on the album but filler tracks that don't satisfy due to the album having been completely raped and pillaged already of decent album only material.
This is how non-greatest hit's albums eventually become considered to be great, classic albums of a particular decade, long after the albums initial lifespan is over!

Yeah, the song is rather crap, although it's true that releasing anything else might not have shifted as many units which is the whole point. In all actuality it's not bad but with so many gems on the album I think everyone is flinching a bit with this one.
As for the person who says that an artist should release the duff tracks on a CD, what are you talking about!? Great, classic albums of a particular decade have few duff tracks PERIOD, and certainly no duff singles. If Gwen released something better than Luxurious, there'd still be quite a few great moments on LAMB.

I'm not saying any DUFF tracks should be released at all, nor am I saying their are many duff tracks. i'm saying that the pop audience already know their are pure pop tracks on it (what you waiting for/ rich girl/ cool), have the intelligence to know they will find more of said pop tracks IF THEY ACTUALLY COMMIT TO BUY THE DAMN THING as a result of those three.
Lets make it clear that the terms Rn'B and Duff are not mutually exclusive terms that mean the same thing! She has in marketing terms selected some more Rn'B influenced cuts (Hollaback girl/ luxurious) to show a different demographic (fans of Rn'B music) that they will find non single release Rn'B influenced tracks on the album (long way to go etc), in the same way she has already shown the pop audience (via pop single release) they will find NON single release pop tracks on the album (the real thing/ danger zone etc).
Nobody could argue this is a pure pop album due to the fact about half of it's influence is Rn'B, whilst the other half being pop.
Therefore if she instead chose to release the real thing or danger zone or whatever your preferred choice of pop single is, at this stage of the albums lifecycle (over luxurious) fans of Rn'B would not find out about the Rn'B influence of the album (as a single is a form of advertisement) and therefore the album would fail to capture half of it's audience.
It is pointless to say luxurious is a bad pop song as it is primarily an Rn'B based song and should not be judged on pop terms by POP fans whose primary POP taste/s do not stretch into Rn'B territory.
I am not a big Rn'B fan, but I am not so stupid as to judge an Rn'B song as a bad pop song when the song's primary influence does not come from pop origins and nor does it pretend to be either. I am a pop fan who simply appreciates the intelligence and thought that has gone into the albums long term marketing plan, ie to exploit seperate pop and rn'b demographics to their fullest potential with a single multi-functional product!

I don't know what it is about Luxurious but I absolutely love it. I think it's that ghetto, old-school vibe to it.
