From Chartsingles.net
Simon Cowell and Simon Fuller have kissed and made up in an out of court settlement today.
The agreement will see Pop Idol return to our gracious television screens next year.
19 Entertainment (Simon Fuller), claims that Simon Cowell leeched Pop Idol's ideas and platform for his own show, the X-Factor.
It also means that America will get at least four more American Idol series'. And yes, Simon will be a judge.
Simon Fuller said: "We are extremely excited that Fox has recognised the phenomenon of American Idol by providing the unprecedented guarantee of at least four and up to six more seasons of the show".
Simon Cowell's label SonyBMG will still be the label of choice
Quite excited to see the return of Pop Idol, as it was always better than X factor, but Four more years of AI?? As much as the show is a guilty Pleasure of mine i jsut cant see it going that far. Thoughts?

The last series of American Idol was shit! They should just ditch it now. Have you had the pleasure/horror of seeing Canadian Idol? Bad. Very bad. Although this year's runner-up is hot and has a sexy East Coast (Canadian East Coast) accent.

4 more AI? I personally could not watch the show if Simon wasn't on it. Seriously, 4 is WAY too much. I haven't really liked or cared about any of the contestants on the past 2 seasons. (Hello? Fantasia winning? She is a screaming horsefaced retard). In all honesty, I think the best damn part of the show is all the crappy auditions and the drama before the final 12.

American Idol should only happen once every 5 years or so. The high-school-talent-show performances are part of what's driving people away from pop music.

In all honesty, AI hasn't spawned the new pop star yet, minus Kelly Clarkson. Almost every person on the show inevitably sinks back into oblivion or fails to do ANYTHING on the pop charts.. Wait, how did the last Idol singles do? hmm...Can't remember can you.. , me neither.

The problem with the american idol contestants,is the poor material they are given.
Middle of the road rock shite,or dated rnb.And for some bizzare reason they lose all vocal talent when put into a studio

Best top 10/12s of American Idol overall:
Season 2 (Kimberley Locke should've won... Clay and Ruben should combust) Season 4 (Carrie won but there were lots of other good people) Season 1 (Kelly won and Tamyra was good, but that's it) Season 3 (Fantasia won, but she was really the only really good one)

Wait, how did the last Idol singles do? hmm...Can't remember can you.. , me neither. That's not really true, is it? Carrie Underwood is currently number two in the US album charts, only second to Madonna. Earlier this year, Carrie and fellow contestant Bo held the top two spots on the singles chart. Fantasia has been massively successful - whether or not she's any good is debatable, but she sold over 1m copies of her debut in the US if I'm not mistaken. Second series runner up Clay Aiken hit number one and went double platinum in the US with his debut album, then followed this up with a platinum, top five christmas album. Winner Ruben Studdard hit the top spot with his debut 'Thankful', initially selling over 1m copies. he followed this up with a gold selling album of Gospel standards. And we all know about Kelly. All in all each series has spawned at least one 'breakout' star in the US. International success may have eluded all but Kelly, but whilst the show is still getting over 20million viewers per episode, and the winners are still proving successful, why would they stop?

I'm sure Pete Waterman said a few months ago that he wouldn't do another series of Pop Idol. Since his contribution to the last series amounted to little more than 10 weeks of whingeing, I say all the more reason to bring it back.
But who should replace him? NB: Suggestions of 'Louis Walsh' will not be well received.

I still watch American Idol, but how long until the wall of talent runs dry? I think Simon is incredibly bored with it, which is why it took so much money to get him back.
So far Kelly is the only international star, but she is the only one that has released a second mainstream album or even gotten any promotion overseas. For the most part 19 prefers to keep most of their Idols to their native countries and homegrow ones overseas. Even Kelly's early promotion was nothing more than putting her as a guest on other nations' Idol shows. I think the only other American Idol contestant that has even released anything in the UK (or basically other than the US and Canada, which being so close tends to get most American stuff anyways) is Kimberley Locke, who I believe flopped.

Are you all fucking mad?!
American Idol is fucking ace!
I'm actually buying a freeview box to watch it next year it's THAT good.
It makes X-Factor and Pop Idol look like pub kareoke.

Seeing as Simon is now embraced in America, I can understand why he's bored now. His schtick was being "nasty" to competitors and his insults are one of the higlights of the show now.
The Idol contestants invariably end up drfting away into obscurity again or showing up some place random or flopping (uh, Justin Guarini,Tamyra, Diana de Garmo)

It makes X-Factor and Pop Idol look like pub kareoke. X Factor looks like pub karaoke without any outside help. This would be my wish-list for a new series of Pop Idol: - Ant and Dec to stay on as presenters. Kate Thornton not involved in any way, shape or form.
- By contrast, an entirely new set of judges apart from Simon.
- If any siblings of existing pop stars or ex-members of failed pop groups show up to the auditions, they should be beaten (on camera) with a large shoe before being sent back whence they came. If it's Nicola Gates, forget the shoe and just use a crowbar.
- A bit more imagination in the choice of theme weeks would not go amiss. The world has heard more than enough Beatles covers already.
- By the same token, it might be an idea to pick some songs that haven't been done to death on multiple occasions in previous series. (Hero can fuck off for a start. Improving on a song by talentless muppet Enrique Iglesias is NOT hard.)
- The least likely wish of all....that the winner be given a song that is neither a well-worn cover nor a variation on All This Time and its tired lyrical themes.
NB: I'm not naive enough to expect any of the above to come true.

In Germany, a new season (the third one) just started, too. So far there wasn't anything too promising, but since they didn't show anyone who got through the first audition of course, I hope there is still some huge talent.

it seems a shame that the US can't have x factor on now, - as i'm sure there's some great groups and over 25s over there!
they should try it!

I agree with thisisnotatest, and would like to add-
- No Nicky Chapman with her complete inability to say anything nasty about even the most deluded idiot retard at the auditions - Anyone who made it as far as the final 50 last year not to be allowed back for a second chance, since there was usually a good reason they never got any further - The results show to last no longer than 15 minutes - The live show audience should not be allowed to boo when one of the judges makes a perfectly reasonable suggestion that one of the contestants was anything less than perfect

That is the one thing that pisses me off when watching it. And the way the crowd just cheering after the first line, like bloody Stars in their eyes!

But that's as unoriginal as male ballad singers. We need someone who can sing great pop music - talent is not that important if they can win over young people.
I'd rather have a new Popstars or Fame Academy, but if it's a choice between Pop Idol and X Factor I'd go for PI simply for the chance of Louis not being involved.
