At least Walsh was involved with (in whatever way; I don't want to open debate on it again) the 'Aloud. What has Cowell ever done for pop music? Naff all. Funny how he never married.

Cowell would probably take credit for Kelly Clarkson, although I watched American Idol from the very first episode and he was not much of a supporter of hers at first; in fact, initially he said he couldn't even remember her.

All the Pop Idol judges said that about Will Young though until the final 50. And shakeitondown, I think you're implying that Mr Cowell may have been a homo? Lol. I would have thought so too he's marvellously camp - but there's far too many skeleton in closet shagatellic stories out there for that to be true. He is much more himself this series of X Factor though, not just being nasty for the sake of it. And I really respect him for that - and like him even more!

Ok, he's very very 'metro' then. I actually quite like him on tv. He's a great tv panto villain. I guess I just hold him personally responsible for Robson and Jerome and don't think he's done much for music unlike, say, Pete Waterman.

Cowell is basically a panto act on TV, yes he is usually spot on with what he says but some of the ways he says things could be much better, however as we know thats for the TV show purposes anyway.
It's all about the TV show, the ratings, the shock value, nothing mroe, nothing less.
If a good act comes from it then maybe they will continue to nurture the act, however they don't care really do they about the artists as it's all about the TV show & keeping their pockets fat.
However, just because Cowell says somehthing isnt right, you'll have no career or whatever doesnt mean he's always right does it?
He's not the only guy within the music industry.
And what about when Kelly Rowland secretly dressed up in disguise, sung away in front of him & Cowell basically said "You have got no chance & will never have a career in music" - she removed the disguise & he didn't have a clue what to say.
I think sometimes he disses people for the shock value of it.
