Not a terrible show, it just doesn't quite work somehow.
I can't believe Alexander O'Neal is in it. I guess times are tough for smooth black soul singers in the hip-hop era.. plus. he looks like he's eaten Luther Vandross : (
I'm finding Jo O'Meara suprisingly fit though... despite having a bit of the 'female rugby player' about her.

The first episode was dire, but it got better last night. The judges comments seem a bit random. One minute they are loving someone for being brave when they've given a terrible performance of a difficult song, and the next they are criticising people for giving a decent performance of song that was 'beyond them'.
The main problem with the show is that some great singers are paired with very poor celebs, and the mismatch cannot be resolved. Some of the decent amateurs just can't compare to the big voices, so the great singers are having to undersing so it's all a bit disappointing.
The duet at the end between Jo and Josaline was amazing. I didn't know they were going to do that, but it was the highlight for me.

I agree that the judge's comments are odd - I rarely agreed with any of them on tonight's episode. I also really liked the duet between Jo and Jocelyn, although Jo has had a few embarrassing moments in her performances with Chris (who I keep calling Mark due to his extreme resemblance to Mark out of Sam and Mark). I feel sorry for Curtis, who can obviously sing very well, but is going to keep on coming out bottom every time since he is paired with Penny whose personality is as painful as her performance.

Chris is the only celeb on the show i can bear to listen to, I think the show would be more entertaining to watch if the tallent was a little better

They are all shite.
Did you see the Hollyoaks lad trying to do 'A Whole New World'. Flat as a damn pancake I tell you.
Why on earth Dame Beverly is doing this, I'll never know (actually I do - Greatest Hits promotion and all that - still sad to think she had to resort to this)

Lulu should get back to screaming 'HEY' when pretending to have just been told of her lowered cholesterol levels; as judges, and indeed TV personalities, go, she is fucking useless.

Rick Astley made the smart move opting out of this, methinks. the words dead, flogging and horse come to mind

She gives me the creeps on that show. "I personally know the Rolling Stones." And Nicky Campbell... surely the creepiest man in the world. I remember when he 'announced' that his wife had ME just so he wouldn't get sacked by Radio 1

An awful, awful carcrash of a show. The only good thing I can say about it, is that I'm completely surprised at how good Natasha Hamilton is. I didn't expect that at all.

I am watching it purely for Beverley - she can sing complete crap and it's fantastic.

That's true, Natasha is quite good. It kind of loses momentum not being on again until Thursday. Lulu is coming across so badly - I don't know if she's trying to be a Simon Cowell type but the difference is, he's only rude to the people who deserve it.

Totally agree with Steve & Storm - only saving graces for me are Beverley and the suprise package in Natasha - hopefully she could turn out to be the winner as she is head and shoulders above Jo!

Natasha is doing well because she knows her limitations. I don't think she's a better singer than Jo, far from it. But she is better at using phrasing and injects some light and shade into it. Jo has a habit of singing everything at full pelt and not noticing when she's out of tune.

It's a shame that such a class act as Beverley felt she had to do such a show, the woman is a frickin' STAR and deserves so much better, in fact might do a Bev thread...

Off the telly is where Nicky Campbell belongs. He is so smarmy I'm surprised his own kids aren't scared of him.
I was rather excited to spot Bradley S Club in the audience tonight! Despite reports suggesting otherwise, he didn't look much different.
