I went to see Simon Amstell do stand up in Islington last week and he said he thought the new pop world was 'shit'. He also remarked on how they had kept on the 'big ones' section even though he made it up. I've only seen the new presenter's first show and I admit it was not comfortable viewing. Alex seems like a lovely guy but he just isn't very funny (although his comment about running into Miquita at a gig in heat was). I'm surprised the producers made such a ham fisted attempt at replacing Simon - they should have presented the show 'striaght' for at least the first few episodes rather than doing a particularly forced immitation of the old presenters. 'Will on the hill', the mocking voiceover of 'behind the scenes' video shoots, the big ones.......it's all been done. It's apparent that as nice as they seem, Alex and Alexa only have a mild interest in this sort of thing rather than genine enthusiasm. An MTV presenter and a 'model who wanted to become a presenter'....are they seriously saying this is the best new presenting talent they could come up with? I dread the new T4 presenters...

Alex's mocking voiceovers on random Saturday morning type American reality tv shows used to be funny. And I'm sure he was funny when I saw him doing standup. It does feel weird, though, because he's doing everything in a similar way to Simon; Alexa seemed alright in her interview with Steve Jones, but Alex seems to be talking over her most of the time, so who knows?

She's good as the straight man...there's just no one to be 'straight' for...if you see what I mean. I didn't see Steve Jones interview her. No doubt it was hilarious rather than just him crawling all over her. Then again....
