I'm very excited by the possibilities for this lot. They're kind of prog, kind of Cardiacs but better than that possibly sounds. I can't stop listening to Cat's Eyes, the structure is fantastic. But I don't have anything by them apart from that and I'm itchy to hear more. Their website is a bit illiterate but has some interesting stuff on there. Have a listen/look HERE.

They've been supporting Rufus Wainwright. They were really fun when I saw them, and I even bought a cat T-shirt they were selling. However, they cannot compare to Rufus' talent. They have a lot of potential, though.

Really like what I've heard so far. Who Left The Lights On Baby is great.

I saw them supporting Rufus Wainwright in Manchester. I really quite liked them. The lead singer made me and my friend laugh with some of the facial expressions he did when singing. We felt rather mean after, considering we were front row and he could probably both see and hear us.

Yeah, the people I met after the Rufus Wainwright gig were in for when Guillemots were on (I wasn't) and really liked them.
We saw them leaving and the people who saw them called across and said that they thought they were great. I think the band thought they were taking the piss as they seemed to drive away in their "Greggs" style van with scowls.
They really did like them.

Just got Trains To Brazil through in the post today, so I can't wait to get home and listen to it. Comes with a free sticker sheet. Annoyingly cutesy, or delightfully quirky? I can't decide.

I too saw them support rufus a few weeks ago...
...the random woman I was departured next to after said they were crap.. the worst thing she'd seen in 10 years... however, it transpired she'd not been to see live music for 30 years or so, and hence her arguement was invalid...
I thought they were fabulous, definitely one to watch for the coming year in terms of popularity

Verdict on the single- well, it's interesting, they've got some great ideas, but if anything, they need to calm down and stop trying too hard. At times it does seem, annoyingly, like they're showing off. For instance, the lyrics are a bit dodgy and there are instances where the singer uses "big" words in completely the wrong context, clearly not understanding them. Perhaps he's a bit dyslexic, in which case there's absolutely nothing wrong in a song with a simple lyric. When Kate Bush was discovered, isn't it true that she was so young that she was just left to germinate for a while before being unleashed on the public? I really think Guillemots need that, they're not ready yet. Nice to meet some bands who aren't afraid of prog, though.
