I haven't heard the other two songs yet, but listening to all the entries this seems to be really good, and clearly , in a very good way, different. Not quite Rollo and King, but definitely up there.
Will there be a top 5 placing for Germany this year?

It should do well, the song is one of the better ones this year. Although i don't think it will win.

I don't think it's a winner either, but they won't be embarrassed to be in the Big 4 again.

I can see it falling through the gaps and getting an underwhelming result (especially now it appears to have garnered the Corinna May-esque "Fan Fave" burden), but it's certainly worked wonders for the contest's image in Germany after last year's debacle - Texas Lightning's single and album are already top 10. Thank god it wasn't Vicky Leandros...

Corrina May was very different though. For a start wasn't iher song written by Ralph-kiss of death Siegel? And the staging was appaling- one blind woman surrounded by 5 reject models from Kay's catalogue who aren't sure whether they're supposed to pose, dance and sing and end up doing none of the options well.
There isn't another song like Texas Lightning in the contest this year, so it should go top 10. Hopefully.

I keep saying this but - DENMARK IS NOT COUNTRY! IT'S ROCK'N'ROLL!

It's a little bit country, a little rock and roll.
"Country Roll"
Germany and Denmark seem close enough to untrained ears anyway, which is sad as I hope they don't cancel each other out, liking both, as I do.

Well, I think they're different enough. As long as they drop the girls with cowboy hats. I quite like Denmark actually, but Germany is infinitely better as underneath it's country styling, it's a really good pop song. Take off the guitars, put on a bunch of bleepy noises (change the drum track too obviously) and it's a eurodance record.

The new version of Denmark on the preview vid feels like they've toned down the Americana a touch, and if the Danish final's anything to go by, there's a decent chance they'll cock up the visuals - it's still the worst possible draw for either of them, though, and the first thing that occurred to me was Re-Union and Max...

I keep saying this but - DENMARK IS NOT COUNTRY! IT'S ROCK'N'ROLL! I would like to support this statement and all other statements that suggest Germany's is the better song. Denmark is definitely Rock'n'roll from it's 1960's best, to the way the guitars are used, to the growly singing style. Germany's is a great song.

I can't remember any other german Eurovision song being that successful in the charts here, except for Max, but that was a different thing considering he was the result of a pop reality show. I too am of the opinion, that this is one of the best songs we ever sent.

It's certainly my favourite of this year's, and I think it has a real chance of doing well - as others have pointed out, under the country stylings (and they are very good country stylings - it's certainly not as cheesy as many country pastiches end up being) it's simply a very good pop song.
It would be nice to see a Big 4 country with a non-ethnic song win, as it would help to dampen down all the anti-Eurovision feeling that has been going on after a series of winners from Eastern Europe.

Yeah, but Dschinghis Khan was better. I remember reading about somewhere that Dschinghis Khan was a hugely inapparopriate entry given the lyrics were about mass-murder and genocide and it was being sung by Germans in Israel. Which was quite an over-reaction I think. But it was a damn good tune. I like Boney M too, so I'm serious (which is probably a bit wrong).

Not at all. Boney M were LEGENDS! Thinking about it though, it maybe was a bit inapproriate. You know that Liz Mitchell, queen of The M, was a member of 1976's German entry, the Les Humphries Singers?

I didn't know that about the Les Humphries singers. It's surprising as Boney M were starting their run of hits around then, but it doesn't sound like Eurovision got in the way of it all.
Poor Boney M. Only Liz and Marcia sang on the records, and now there are apparently 4 Boney Ms touring the world. It's worse than Bucks Fizz.

I really like the German song, it's deceptively good. I'm expecting a solid top ten placing for it.

In this year's Moopy.co.uk preview vote, Germany came 4th. See the full results HERE. I think it will do realy well.

I think it will do well too but for all the wrong reasons. Its just a cheesy mess to my ears i'm afraid and the costumes are just all wrong.

It's the current number one single in Germany after having spent weeks in the Top 3. What a success.

Daz will be a dark horse. His song is nice and will attract people for its simplicity.
