Just saw this on Youtube, seems quite plausibe:
Icelandic fictional character Silvia Night (a.k.a. Silvía Nótt) performs "Congratulations" at the Eurovision Semi-Finals in Greece 2006. As predicted, the audience did not realize this was a joke so Silvia was met with an unprecedented unanimous booing, before and after the performance. Her repeatedly telling the tech crew to "**** themselves" at rehearsals didn't help either, producing an enormous amount of negative publicity for her in Greece especially. It is being rumoured that the sound crew deliberately misadjusted her mic levels in retaliation for her hurtful comments.
Poor bint, although after watching her rehearsel vid, it's hardly surprising if it's true

This is a rumour that totally suits her character.
Although it's an internet rumour. I could probably start a rumour on the net that Tina Karol is a man if I was so inclined.

Oh, go on then.
Moving on, i think Silvia's main problem is she never took a bloody breath! Just *slightly* too many ad-libs...

I just don't think people understood her that's all - some people took her too seriously when all she was doing was putting on a big diva act.

"Oh My! It's a golden shower!"
Brilliant.

I don't think she sounded bad. Apparently she wasn't sounding great in rehearsals either.

I don't think she sounded bad. Apparently she wasn't sounding great in rehearsals either. There's a fair bit of her rehearsal stuff on YouTube, and I think most of it is better than the actual performance.

The thing is she was performing it as a comedy act rather than as a singing performance, hence the hilarious Golden Shower comment and the frequent "Oh yeahs" and "oh my God"s.
She can sing as she proved on the many TV shows she went on, it's just a shame she didn't have a simpler, less messy performance.
