Which Army Of Lovers songs do you recommend?
I already have Crucified, Israelism, Give My Life, and Obsession.
Also, was Crucified released in the UK? I only heard it for what I thought was the first time yesterday, but I'm sure I've heard it before somewhere.

Obsession is my absolute favourite. Sexual Revolution and King Midas (especially King Midas) are awesome too.

My favourite is La Plage De Saint Tropez - the best Eurovision song that never was.

I Am, Life Is Fantastic and Lit De Parade are probably my favourites of the ones that haven't been mentioned.

Supernatural is awesome.
And if you can find it the whole "Gods of Earth and Heaven" album is pretty fantastic, "Sebastien" is a stormer of epic proportions and "The Grand Fatigue" while having that Army silliness about it is actually a really sad, tender track about an eating disorder.
"Hurrah, Hurrah Apocalypse" off "Glory, Glamour and Gold" is ace too!

I love their earlier stuf the most; Supernatural, When The Night Is Cold, My Army of Lovers and Baby's Got A Neutron Bomb are all fab.
And then there's Heterosexuality, of course.

They had a number of singles in the UK- My Army Of Lovers was promoed but not released, Crucified was released twice (the second time I think reaching number 31 in the charts in February 1992) as well as Ride The Bullet and Judgement Day (from the re-release of Massive Luxury Overdose which featured Michaela instead of La Camilla). From The Gods Of Earth And Heaven they started with Israelism, then released La Plage De St Tropez and I Am, none of which were successful. And then Give My Life became (I think) their last UK single, although it got a bit confusing as HMV would stock all the European imports, so Life Is Fantastic, Lit De Parade and Give My Life appeared in the shops, but whether or not they were UK releases I am unsure.
I read recently that after Israelism they weren't successful in Sweden anymore, and that both The Gods Of Earth And Heaven and Glory, Glamour And Gold were flop albums.

As for good tracks, there are so many! Like someone said, the whole "The Gods Of Earth And Heaven" album is excellent ("Carry My Urn To Ukraine", "The Grand Fatigue", "The Ballad Of Marie Curie" and "Blood In The Chapel" as well as the bizarre introductory interludes are marvellous) while "Glory, Glamour And Gold" holds some great tracks too. ("Shine Like A Star" and "You've Come A Long Way Baby" are standouts for me). From "Massive Luxury Overdose", "Walking With A Zombie", "Supernatural" and "Flying High" are my favourites. And "The Dynasty Of Planet Chromada" and "The Particle Song" from the re-release are also ace. God, how I loved Army Of Lovers when I was growing up in the closet...

They had a number of singles in the UK- My Army Of Lovers was promoed but not released. It was very heavily promoed at the time, but did eventually slip out as commercial release over here (albeit only on two different 12"'s). As for Army Of Lovers recommendations... 'You've Come A Long Way Baby' from their 'Glory, Glamour & Gold' album is my personal favourite at the moment, along with 'Say Goodbye To Babylon' from 'Massive Luxury Overdose'. But, as you should know, Alexander is pretty much incapable of writing a bad pop song, so everything's worth a listen.

For late-era Army of Lovers I quite liked "Let the sunshine in" and "Hands up"

Is there a greatest hits? If not they should re-form and the lead single should be called 'Lee Ryan'.

Army of Lovers were my favorite group in my formative years. I loved the group in all their various forms.
I don't think that there are any 'bad' songs on any of their albums.

Mr Battyman is not the best song ever, but lyrically it is fabulous.

Ride the Bullet and Obsession both reached No. 67 in the UK and, as someone pointed out, Crucified was their only sizeable hit at No. 31, but I remember seeing it on MTV a lot.

I was 6 in '92 and not musically aware. It must have been played at a club I've been to recently.
Thanks for your recomendations. I have to say Israelism is my favourite so far. Coincidentally I downloaded the folk song the song features only a week before.

Thanks for your recomendations. I have to say Israelism is my favourite so far. When coupled with the video I must agree Israelism is, for me their finest moment. You can download the video (along with others) here!

Oh Lord, I agree too. Israelism is like the pinnacle of their video madness. Alexander with the curling tongs and the girls in the tabernacles swinging their legs and Jean-Pierre with the gold turban. What did it all mean?!?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it that time of the year when Mr. PJ dusts off his Army of Lovers' Greatest Hits-CD and comes to the conclusion that Crucified is one of the most spectacular moments in pop history, and then makes a post on the home page about it?

I just got the Greatest Hits DVD in the post and what a marvel. I bought the Videovaganza in 1993 but wore it out. It was so funny, and this is the same. I love it. And it has the bizarrely low quality video for CandyMan Messiah which is a great song.
