Just when you thought Popworld couldn't get any stranger, today they had Andrea Oliver, Miquitas mum presenting the show, she was quite good as well
Maybe when Simon is off they should get his dad to host it

I know, that was so funny. I thought I misheard when he said it was Miquita's Mum. They're quite alike in their mannerisms, and she did a really good job of it.

I thought she did very well, especially considering she (presumably) has no presenting or TV experience. And she and Miquita are very alike.
Tangentially, I notice that Simon Amstell is on Buzzcocks tonight. Could be good.

She was great! A bit too much of the 'No Simon...I'm not going to talk about that' cajoling...made her seem more mothering than she should have been. However, I think she beats Tweedy in the guest-presenters-of-the-weekend poll.

I thought it was Ice-T's wife who co-presented "BaadAsss TV" (1994-96) with him, but it turns out it was the mother of the future PopWorld presenter. I guess I wasn't paying proper attention. She sang in Rip, Rig & Panic too, alongside Neneh Cherry. www.britishcouncil.org.au/selector/andrea.htmwww.bifa.org.uk/person.php?person=305I thought her mannerisms and interest in young music was so similar to Miquita's that at one stage I wondered if Miquita had done some Ant & Dec type of stunt. But no stage make-up and costume would be that effective, I guess.

Me and Ann saw Mr Amstell's mum and brother today. His brother has huge hair and an evil scientist beard.

What was the artist and title of the 'hip hop' style video played during the show?
(as asked by a work colleague).

I missed it, but the lovely Miquita's mum is a presenter on the World Service.

Ludacris - Number One Spot/Potion I'm hoping that it's foreshadowing a new Austin Powers film...am I right?

I'm hoping that it's foreshadowing a new Austin Powers film...am I right? No, it's just strangely dated. Maybe it's a new kind of retro cool for things which were retro cool only a few years ago. Or maybe it's his tribute to H in the 'Say You'll Be Mine' video.

Well it's not a very good song either way. He's ruined the Austin Powers theme tune.
And Miquita's mother was charming. I tuned in about half way through and thought to my self 'what's going on here?' so we (my brother and I) finally decided it was miquita's mum, then she starts going on about Miquita - so that was indeed that.

She has the same style of talking, or maybe popworld just told her to do that, i don't know.
