I think it was most inappropriate for Daniel Bedingfield and Cliff Richard to promote their new singles at what was supposed to be a celebration of the end of WWII.
All the other singers managed to sing songs from the era, but not them.
(Will was great!)

I would debate whether Shane Ritche 'sang' a song from that era. Horrendous.

Cliff and Daniel seem to gert on like a house on fire don't they. You could take that any of several ways.

But then again, those 2 were the only ones who actually have a record to promote at the moment. Maybe if others had, they would have done the same?
Saying that, it did seem a bit odd.
I thought Catherine Jenkins sounded the best on those songs.

I thought that Will and Katherine were brilliant, Eamon Holmes was very rude with some of the veterans, cutting them off and walking away while they were still talking. Shane Richie was dreadful and somebody should tell Cliff that black leather trousers and a red leather jacket is not a good look for a 63 year old man. Vera Lynn was so sweet and lovely.

Maybe Cliff shouldn't have sung his new single, but looking at the audience most of them were well over 50 and 60 so I assume they were mostly his audience, so I guess they would have been quite happy to see him singing any thing!
As for Daniel thats a different story, but he is obviously better at singing his own songs because he murdered the other one.
I thought all the girl singers did well, they all looked and sounded wonderful and it was lovely to see Dame Vera looking so well and enjoying Katherine closing the show with her famous song.

Cliff will be 65 on 14 October! He was born in 1940.
However, I agree that his get up was not good.
Apparently there was a large contingent of Cliff fans there. Some were rather pushy - actually pushy and someone I know was slightly hurt! Security dealt with it.
I do think that the camera work and sound quality were not up to standard. Too many pictures of the fountains - which weren't working (obviously)

Talking of inappropriate, wasn't the choice of Love for Sale a bit strange for the occasion? Quite liked the song but it's not really a VE day song is it?

Well I'm guessing that during the war prostitutes would have been the only chance a lot of young soldiers had of getting any "love" from a woman before they went off to die for their country. Cole Porter had many popular songs around during the war :quote"In this more accepting climate, the list of Cole Porter hits grew: "Love for Sale," "Night and Day," "Anything Goes," "You're the Top," "Begin the Beguine," "Just One of Those Things," and "It's De-lovely" were only a few. I've read his biography, it's a good read, he was also gay.

The Bugle Boy was more grate than great. I'd rather have the Andrews Sisters or the Beverley Sisters, although sometimes he does sound a bit like one of the latter.

I actually thought Daniel was Cliff returning to the stage when he came on. They had the same hair and a similar suit, but then I realised that if this was Cliff he would've had to have just eaten an entire McDonalds stock to get that bloated so quick.

I didn't like Daniel's little speach in his weirdy accent. At least Natarsha wasn't there too.

I think Daniel was there to acknowledge the Commonwealth troops that helped in the war effort. I can't think of any other reason!
The Andrews Sisters were a close harmony trio - very much like the girls who sang with Will. The Beverley Sisters were also a trio (twins and a cousin) who sang in the fifties and sixties - I wasn't keen!
