I've got a whole list of ass clowns, and these two are right at the top of the list. I feel another 30+ page thread coming about how awful they really are...

I thought it was very cruel of TOTP Saturday to get them to dress up as gardeners and delivery men today, when all the other popstars got to be popstars. Sam and Mark had to 'act' ordinary.

I will avoid it like AIDS then. Er...quite. Sam and Mark barely deserve their own thread here. I wouldn't be surprised if they never release anything again. The novelty of them as a duo has clearly worn off. As for solo careers - don't be silly.

Sam and Mark possess the type of smug 'cheeky' 'chappy' faces I would never get tired of slappin'. But I must confess as much as it pains me to admit it, I quite liked their last single. I'm so ashamed. *cries*

No, showing up on a message board repeatedly to tiresomely defend a pair of cardboard cut-outs who simply aren't worth it is ridiculous. This board is fun. Come in, play with the three-dimensional people!

I come on these boards frequently, and read very interesting posts from many different people, but I don't very often reply to them, because I don't very often have a strong opinion on the individual matters.
Take Girls Aloud, for example. Personally, I think they're rubbish, and I would never buy any of their albums, let alone their singles. But I wouldn't post that on these boards, because everyone, well 95% of the people here blatently think the sun shines out their backsides, and that they can do no wrong.
Sam and Mark, on the other hand do provoke strong reactions from me, and so (although I know I shouldn't) I often can't help but reply to the (pointless) threads slagging them off, just like this one.
Basically, I'm perfectly happy just reading other threads, and defending the "cut-out cardboard figures", but thanks for the offer.

Perhaps nobody would object to you slagging off Girls Aloud? Apart from Steveweiser.

Whilst I'm not a Sam & Mark fan, hence me starting this thread, Emma's entitled to like them and defend them here, therefore it doesn't matter if she doesn't like GA, that's alright with me.
You, however, have no right to come on here with nothing but purile hatred. I have a right to defend any act I like, and you sir have left me no choice but to have you kicked out to the street where you belong.

What is the matter with the shorter one? I don't think his face should his face look like that. Does he use those cheeks to carry his boyfriend's shopping in? I think I see your point. Emphasis on think. Sam (the one I assume you are obviously un-knowingly whining about - not that i'm defending them) does look like he lost lots of weight quickly, and his skin hasn't had chance to catch up (for more examples, see Michelle from Big Brother and that one from D-Side). Mark however, obviously hasn't tried to lose weight, or if he's tried, he's failed. And I don't like the "to carry his boyfriend's shopping" comment. Sam isn't gay, well he might be, but that's his choice. Anyway, you implied that he was gay as an insult, and that behaviour isn't exactly welcome here. Recap: I'm not actually defending them. Of the two, I hate Mark the most. He was destined to be crap, but he didn't have to drag Sam down with him.

The difference between you and us, Emma, is that whilst we probably would leap on you for slagging GA off on here, we wouldn't bite your head off on the S&M board for doing it there, which is what you do to us. You notice that whilst you tell us off for even mentioning Sam and Mark, we don't go over to your board and tell you off when you bad-mouth Popjustice. Hahahahahahahaha! I am, literally, laughing audibly. The Mike is correct, I too will be surprised if Sam and Mark release anything again.

This might also be a good time to point out that one of our most regular posters seldom has a good word to say about the Aloud. No-one (except Jen, sometimes) bothers leaping on him.
That sounded really bad. Oh well, never mind.

Actually, I think we're pretty sensible about Girls Aloud. Slag them off all you like, as long as you're amusing about it.
While there's a lot of interest in Girls Aloud here, at least we enter into fandom with a sense of humour -- Girls Aloud are far more interesting to me than they are to my boyfriend for example, because I frequent this board. Nicola makes me think of fabulous shoes and prompts me to look for conspiracies involving her being shunted to the back in their performances and videos. Nadine makes me think of her comedy legs and her desire to out perform everyone else; Kimmi makes me think of Pete Burns; Sarah makes me think of shagging in the woods; and Cheryl makes me think of Popjustice outings to The Drink in Guilford.
I can't imagine Sam & Mark fans having any sort of parodying fun with those two -- emma50 et al take them far too seriously. Them dressing up as Fearne's gardeners and their 'comedy' pursuit of Rachel Stevens was so laboured it made me physically cringe. But hey! Look! It's Girls Aloud dressed as Florence Nightingale! At least Jen recognises that taking the piss can add to your fandom. Why's that? Because Jen's a Popjustice person and emma50 isn't.

Does anybody know if TOTPS is repeated (stupid question probably)? Sam and Mark's 'hilarious' gardening escapades appeal somewhat.
Someone should make a badge saying 'I've complained about Mikey and Sarah'. In fact I might go and make one right now....once I find the badge maker.

Jen's a Popjustice person and emma50 isn't. Yeah, I think that's basically what it is. Jen has the ability to stand up for, and defend Sam and Mark, without taking herself or any comments made, too seriously. I, on the other hand, take it all way to seriously, and find myself over-reacting to even a mere mention of them. It's a characteristic that I don't like in myself, but I can't help the way I am! I am (finally) beginning to realise that these mesageboards are a lot more humorous than others I may have been on, and I think I fit in a lot better there than I do here. I do enjoy reading some, if not most, of the threads on these boards, and even I agree with what someone said earlier; that Sam and Mark won't have another single as a duo (although they are apparently still on course to release an album in September, which I'm sure will do just as badly, if not worse, than TSHCYW.) Ah well, that's life...!

Thanks for that, si! Very funny!
I promise I'll try and not take it too seriously from now on. I'll even stop posting the pointless "but they're good" retalliation messages.
And, just for the record, I think Mark's crap, so we do agree on something!

To be fair emma, I don't really hate Sam and Mark and I'm not really ashamed about liking their last single. But when presented with an opportunity to take the piss out of S&M (ohh...naughty) it would be rude not to take it.
However, I stand by what I said about their faces though, which screams out please slap me!. If only we could tattoo that to their foreheads......

Really? I would be; it was crap. I don't get you. You don't really like them all that much, do you? But you get all defensive and "grr don't slag them off". Why's that?

She fancies Sam. This isn't a criticism by the way (although I don't know what anybody sees him personally!), just something I noticed and it explains the tendancy to leap to his defence whenever somebody so much as thinks about him negatively.

I don't get you. You don't really like them all that much, do you? But you get all defensive and "grr don't slag them off". Why's that? Because I'm stubborn, and I feel as though once I like someone, I shouldn't start to dislike them. Anyway, I don't dislike Sam, it's just Mark. I still maintain that Sam is an amazing talent, but I just think it's going to be harder and harder for him to become a solo artist everytime they release a single as a duo. In this way I hope they don't release another single, as it's only further damaging his already low reputation.

Because I'm stubborn, and I feel as though once I like someone, I shouldn't start to dislike them. A lesson to you all: never fall into that trap. Had I done so, I'd still be arguing the merits of Oasis, who released their last decent album when I was 15. What a horrible thought. Though there are worse things I used to like back then. I'm not going to elaborate.
