Peter Biker and Karsten Delgado (Daahlgaard), otherwise known as SoulPower UK, are currently writing and producing tracks to be submitted for Britney's fifth album. The duo have recently produced and co-written "It's OK!" for Liberty X and "Better" for Sugababes, as well as Jamelia's "Thank You." In addition to their own tracks, they are also going to be collaborating with Cathy Dennis ("Toxic," "Showdown") on potential tracks for the album.

BTW, can anyone tell me if Dennis wrote or produced ANYTHING in 2005? I'm a huge fan but can't find the info anywhere... Thanks!

She did Sugababes' Bruised, but I can't think of any other examples of her work from 2005.

Well a Britney album is massive deal for pop writers. She's one of the few pop artists who still sell internationally. So there are loads of people who submit tracks for her. Most of them will never be used or recorded I presume.
Cathy Dennis has probably been writing all year for the Britney project as well as stuff for Sophie Ellis Bextor and if reports are to be believed Paris Hilton and Kylie Minogue. I'm still hoping that the rumour about Cathy Dennis and Royksopp writing for Britney is true. But yeah I agree that SoulPower Uk are a bit budget for a Britney album. Maybe they're cheaper than the american producers.
If Jive had any sense they would be roping in Richard X and Xenomania. But Jive are reliably crap.

RICHARD X IS A GENIUS.
Yes he is and Britney would be a worthy muse.

I don't like 'Better' or 'Thank You' and I don't recall hearing 'It's OK'.
I was hoping she'd be working with Xenomania, Richard X, Cathy Dennis, Bloodshy & Avant and maybe even Stuart Price. I liked the track Imogen Heap worked on for her 'Over To You Now', more stuff like that would be great.

I suppose it would be too much to hope she'd be working with The Location or A Side Productions...

Britney's never had a 'great album' she is a singles act i think. Her albums might sell but they are still pretty shit and choc with filler.
For this album she should work with (but probably wont happen) Richard X, Xenomania and maybe Cathy Dennis again. Please NO hip-hop/urban crap this time. Urban Britney is a laughing stock.

I agree that she is a singles artist, but she does shift a lot of albums. The thing is In the Zone could have been potentially one of the best pop albums of the decade. Had she actually put on the majority of the tracks she recorded like Graffiti My soul, Over to you now, the original Then we kiss, Do Something, Just begun (having my fun) as well as the wealth of unheard tracks like the Cathy Dennis/Guy Chambers tracks (Sacred?) and Stay (the people who did touch of my hand with) I'm sure it would have been a much more coherent pop masterpiece. There were also Rodney Jerkins and 7 Aurelius tracks, but they probably weren't that great.
But Jive are always adamant on making her record the urban crap so she gets US radio play. Since Toxic was her biggest hit for years Jive should now really just be searching for potential pop masterpieces for Britney. Let's face it, the pop world is boring without her. A Britney video/performance is an event and we need some Spears magic these days.

Times must be desperate if the people who wrote "It's OK" for Liberty X are being roped in. It's such a dire song that it won't even be included on their re-released album in a few weeks...

Well, just because they've been asked to submit some tracks doesn't mean any will actually end up on the album. I'm sure that many people would have been asked.

Surely, there is no excuse for a bad Britney album except rubbish A & R people.
Every self-respecting pop song writer would kill to have their song chosen and judging by the 'ITZ' sessions there was more than a surplus of extra material and songs.

Not to be cheeky but surely Britney could do better? Before everyone gets a bit huffy about this - maybe we should wait until the tracks are actually heard. I'm sure that the stuff for Britney sounds nothing like Better, Thank You or It's OK. Occasionally writers and producers have a revolutionary moment and completely change their style and pace.

I can't find out what other songs they've done - I know they're on the 365Artists roster, but I only found those 3 songs. It's important to bear in mind that Britney's A&R people are obviously asking a wide range of people to submit songs for the project, rather than letting Britney herself choose as they did with "In The Zone" (she chose Guy Chambers and the Matrix as she wanted to go down a more pop/rock route, but they convinced her otherwise thankfully!), so if the songs aren't good enough, chances are they won't be on the album, which is due in November.

I thought her involvement with In the Zone wasn't as big as they originally made it out to be.....I remember in one interview she said she wasn't that keen on 'Showdown', and the fact that she pushed for the release of Toxic and Do Somethin' surely show she has great pop sensibilities!

I meant when she was recording the album - the original idea she had was to do pop/rock along the lines of Avril Lavigne, as she loved "Let Go." She worked with Fred Durst on 'experimental' tracks, and went to the Matrix and Guy Chambers to achieve the sound. They poppified "Shadow" for the record label, and it was going to be the first single for ages, until Jive decided to buy in some R&B tracks. She did win on quite a few decisions with regards to the singles - she wanted "Me Against The Music" as first single, and they wanted "Outrageous," and they kept trying to push "Boom Boom" and "Outrageous" as singles after that, but she won out with "Toxic" and "Everytime," before she let them have their way with "Outrageous" (and then hijacked it by injuring her knee!).

Me Against The Music is just as bad as Outrageous.
I dont know what went wrong. Britney AND Madonna on one track? It should have been a lot better than the steaming brown paper bag of shit that was Me Against The Music.
Richard X is what Britney needs, and i am sure he would love to work with her.

What went wrong with "Me Against the Music" was that it wasn't intended to be a Brit/Madge duet.
Steve, correct me if I'm wrong, but it was recorded as a solo song first (in fact, she debuted the single alone at that year's NFL kickoff special) and then she somehow convinced Madonna to guest on it.
It's a shame, because yes, those two should have been magic (but I guess you could say the same about Madonna and Prince, and look at what a train wreck "Love Song" is).
I don't hate "Me Against..." but it certainly was no "Toxic" or "Breathe On Me."
I say "Hear, hear!" to Richard X, Xenomania, and more Cathy Dennis!!!

That's right - Britney recorded it as a single and wanted her solo version to be the first single. Straight after she debuted it at the NFL Kickoff special, where it was announced it would be the first single, Jive denied it would be after all. It was apparently after she played Madonna the track - presumably as she wanted her opinion on the song to support her own conviction that it should be the lead-off single - that she suggested Madonna duet on it with her, which swung it for Jive. I imagine if Britney and Madonna had been in the studio together, actually working on a duet, it would have been a lot better.

As I've said on loads of other posts regarding Britney: Graffiti My Soul should have been the lead single for In the Zone with Madonna guesting. I can imagine the video now.

The "Bradonna" track had such potential. I think the very fact that it was a Britney and Madonna "duet" was its own undoing, especially around "The Kiss" hype. No one rea

I love that Britney has a completely different agenda to what her record label does, like when she revealed last year she was half way through an album called 'Original Doll'. Jive denied it and they ended up releasing what were presumably the tracks recorded for said album on the Someday EP.
And her busting her knee to avoid releasing 'Outrageous', she's hilarious.
Pop needs Britney back.
