I just don't want Westlife to win. I am not too happy about McFly winning either.

Westlife won. I want to stay in my own little bubble where Girls Aloud are the best ever band and everyone else is shit, but sadly that's not the real world.

Westlife could actually not release anything in 2006 and still win 'Record Of The Year'.
Thought : By watching this, did I just make Johnothan King enough money to get a plane ticket to Thailand.....

I'm so glad that McFly didn't win.
I'm assuming it was their fans booing - Idiots.
I didn't really want Westlife to win - Gorillaz was my favourite.
I would guess that the McFly boards are turning into teenie heaven right now......................
Yes they are - some of it's quite funny actually.

Im glad My Humps did so well though. Funny how different the voting went in each part of the U.K-James Blunt coming second in Wales!?!

Not at all - I try and let everyone enjoy what they wish, I don't want people to like GA INSTEAD of anyone else, but alongside anyone else.

Does it really matter who wins this? An award created by a paedophile, for people who don't care about music. If I won it, I'd give it back. Unless it was a cash prize.

Still, I was dismayed when Kelly Clarkson didn't even get through to the top 5. Looking at who did I actually turned it off and flicked back on only to swear at Westlife winning. Smug bastards.

Unfortunately, i'm not surprised. How many times have Westlife won this anyway? I know they won for "Mandy" as well.

For me, the biggest shocker of Record of The Year 2005...is that they didnt use DISCO-COP as the theme!!!

I think McFly thought it was their award for the taking and looked most shocked and pissed off that someone else won something. It'll do them good.
Daniel Powter had a horrible jumper.
Not much else to say.

The real (Moral) winner is Madonna "Hung Up".
Apparently she requested to her record company that her single was not included in the first shortlist of 30 because she was aware of the Jonathan King connection & the fact that his production company would make money out of this competition via advertising, etc.

Westlife have won the title 4 times.
Did anyone hear the McFly fans booing as Westlife made their way to the stage? - Was quite funny.

I am watching the repeat on ITV2, and they have audience shots, and you can hear manic screaming, but I can't actually see anyone doing it.... I think it is canned.

I think next year they should implement a 'no covers' rule. That way we'll ensure Westlife won't win AGAIN.

The no covers rule's OK but not this fucking 'has to be written by the artist' pretentious shite. That would exclude nearly all of the greatest pop songs of all time from winning.
That should be the only criteria. All entries should be really great pop songs.

I was in the audience and I can tell you now, there were not a lot of McFly fans in the audience. Their reception when they performed was nothing compared to Westlifes. However, there was a lot of booing but I think it came from just about everyone! Admittedly my friend was booing, mainly because we wanted to see Black Eyed Peas again. She also shouted 'McFly were robbed' at Kian who merely tutted and shook his head. Classic

I agree with the "No covers" though. If Westlife actually release a decent original song (they've done it before, though not in several years), then they can get in again.

I don't see what a 'no covers' rule would achieve. As I said, this whole thing is just a money making scam for ITV and Jonathan King. They want these boybands with rabid fanbases to text and vote in their thousands. It isn't about the best song, it never has been. It's about which act have a fanbase willing to make sure their favourite artist wins for an award which means nothing.
I mean, was Thunderbirds Are Go! the best record of 2004 by anyone's standards? And that wasn't a cover either.

Not much else to say. WERD. And he's a grouchy prick. I didn't see him remove his beanie laden head from his hands all show (well the 10 minutes I watched that were interesting). In closing: Cheers to Madonna for not letting her name be sullied by such an obvious ITV wankfest (maybe they should wheel out that it's their 50th-and-a-half birthday? I'm sure we're due). And jeers to Westlife for still believing they're releasing credible records. Shitemongers.

Westlife should be made illegal.
I wouldn't have minded if McFly won, because they appear to be a nice group of lads having a laugh, and none of their songs have been particularly bad, i even liked All About You.
But i don't understand how Biology, Don't Cha, Hung Up etc etc were not in the final. Those 3 are definatly in the top 10 songs of this year.

Some people have already said that Madonna has allegedly refused to let her song participate in this event due to someone being a pedo (IE read up ) ). Maybe the other artists have had similar advice? Either way, it seems like a completely skewered event and not at all a true reflection of what was the biggest or best song of the year.
