I love wikipedia. Simon Amstell and Miquita Oliver are, however leaving the show in April when the programme gets a brand new look and a new presenting team. Miquita Oliver has said that she will continue presenting T4's weekend show, while Simon Amstell is reported to want to continue his TV career elsewhere. They will be replaced by Alex Zane and Alexa Chung, who will take over from the April 22, 2006 edition and be absolutely rubbish, and will most likely lose the cult following the origional show has built up because neither of them are funny. That ending was beautiful. If that 'trailer' is an example of the level of humour to expect, then it's going to be a sorry affair...

I was watching in shocked horror. Dancing =/= Clever, witty, sardonic humour. All it served to do for me was wondering whose legs were thinner.

Seconded -- I think Alexa's are, which shocked me ever so slightly.

The new hosts look straight out of The Strokes school of individuality so expect lots of exciting interviews with lank-haired rockers. Much like Simon and Miquita's final programme. *yawns*

I missed the ending and I'm absolutely gutted. Anyone possibly fill me in on what happened?
The advert with Alex and Alexa in is just a bit strange but I'm liking the song in the background. Anyone know what it's called.

Part 3 was great, just the way it should have ended. I would have liked a few more early clips though. I didn't watch the show back then.
Parts 1 & 2 were nothing special though. Instead of a general bunch of indie bands with nothing interesting to say, why couldn't they have got friends of the show back for one last interview
McFly, Kaiser Chiefs etc, that sort of thing

It sounds like something by Junior Senior.

Simon wrapped around that dancer before the break made me spit special k over my carpet... That was my favourite bit! I tried to get a screen cap but my disc is corrupt. I loved those bits Simon did in the last few weeks. The one in the drum is my second favourite.

Wow, RIP good Popworld.
I would do anything for a DVD as I, too, came too late to the show. The pleasure of a hungover Sunday afternoon watching the repeat on E4 will not be the same, although that Zane character is quite funny when he dubs one of the American MTV imports on TMF.
The ending blew me away. and getting the Guru-Murthy involved! I will miss them deeply.
And I have Simon's bedspread.

I can't stand that new guy, he really grates me on everything I've seen him in before...
...I bet they changed the girls name to AlexA because she too is called Alex, that would not surprise me, I don't like the way the trailor plays on their "similarity" either oh hahaha it is SO amusing, I _don't_ think.

It's like they've kept the script, but you can't enjoy it in the same way, can you? Simon and Miquita gave the impression of outsiders looking in bitching from the sidelines, which was lovable, but Zane is precisely one of the Too Cool For School crowd that make the same jokes rather more difficult to swallow. Perhaps they will grow on me.

Theve turned it into another type of show, a credible rock/indie whatever, and they present it well, but it wasnt what we used to tune in for. The new set looks nice tho, at least.

I didn't like the new format at all. It just looked all dark and dingy and too much like an extended T4 item than it's own show. I prefered the light and the white in the old set.
I thought Alexa was good and quite a bit better than Miquita but Alex seemed to struggle by trying too hard to be funny and I actually cringed during his Dirty Pretty Things interview.
I finally saw Simon and Miquita's exit on the popworld website and thought it was great.

Alexa is a lot better than I thought she'd be, but I only came to this conclusion watching her being interviewed by Steve Jones.
The opening joke, with Alex and Alexa talking over one another, kind of seemed to set the tone for the whole thing: he's yapping away and she's barely doing anything. Which is a shame, because I think I'd quite like her, and I used to love Alex Zane, but he grates on my nerves something chronic now.
The Tom Jones interview, too, was a bit awkward; like they had the old Simon and Miquita cheeky questions, but they didn't want to make him look stupid or ask anything too awkward in case it all went wrong; something was just off about it.
In conclusion: shut it, Zane.
