What is the obsession with trying to bring all these useless hasbeens back? Worse, it is to be done in the form of some vile Pop Idol format, a format which is quickly becoming boring. I am sick to death of talent shows where people have to sing and get thier voices critiqued by some pompous self opinionated idiot with no talent.
Please save us viewers from this potential tv hell.

Kelly Marie ought to take this one home. If you hear her version of Millenium you'll hear her voice has gotten much deeper and stronger - and it was pretty awesome to start with. She has quite a few camp-tastic gems in her cannon.
I hope this show is a success, for whatever reasons, then we might get better artists more willing to participate next time.

I hope Nick Heyward does well. I saw him on Bands Re-united (Haircut 100) and he seems like a very nice genuine guy who wrote some really good tunes. THe reformed band were great.
Who's Howard Jones?? Shame on you.
Here are some lyrics from 3 of his songs.
"What is Love anyway Does anybody love any body anyway?"
"Throw off your mental chain ooh ohh ohh"
"Like to get to know you well"

As a sunth pop kinda guy anything that gets Howard Jones a bit of extra notice is fine by my book.
But Kelly Marie?!
Haddaway??!!
I remember haddaways songs always had a middle 8 where a backing singer woman would do some 'woah woah's to the tune. The video would usually have a scantily clad woman thrusting in time to the music at this point with the camera at an angle and her tits pointint into the top left corner of the screen. Class.
I remember his song "what is love" and one called "Life" but I believe there was another one in between the two.
Anyone know?

Oh Lord, y'all gotta be kiddin' me? Miss Gloria is doin' this? Girl, surely you ain't needin' the money this bad! Miss Tiffany and Miss Sinitta and the rest I can understand but Miss Gloria? Surely 'I Will Survive' is keepin' her in Franklins? Good luck Miss Gloria - she bout the only one with true worldwide status back in the day.

I remember his song "what is love" and one called "Life" but I believe there was another one in between the two. Anyone know? You might be thinking of Rock My Heart. But I thought the sequence went: What is love, Life, I Miss You, Rock My Heart. Then you simply have to look out Catch A Fire, Desert Prayer & Fly Away. Cheese-tastic in every way.

ha ha
you big 'haddaway-a-phile'
They were good songs for the time. I remember the twist in the 'life' video of having some bionic woman being groped and 'built' by the man himself, think the middle eight had her waving her tits.
class.
One of the songs I have to try get on when im next in some 1990s dance music type night, along with 'u sure do' by strike

We had such a show last year around this time in Germany. Each week there was a certain motto. The only difference to Pop Idol was, that the judges and the viewers gave points in a Eurovision Song Contest way. It was not really successful.
Here's a list with the people who competed:
Haddaway Chris Norman C.C. Catch Coolio Limahl Emilia Marcus Benjamin Boyce Jazzy The Weather Girls
It was very entertaining, though. Sometimes at least.

Oh Lord, y'all gotta be kiddin' me? Miss Gloria is doin' this? Girl, surely you ain't needin' the money this bad! I think it's great that she's in because how can she possibly lose. Firstly she's got I Will Survive which will bring the house down and she can outsing everybody else (Apart from Mica) so her version of a new song is bound to be great. This is a truly awful idea for a programme. Tacky, derivative, cheap. I think i can speak for all at Popjustice when I say, it's going to be FABULOUS!!!

Apart from the exclusion of many a 90's boy band, and Deuce, this line up is amazing! I'm glad so many people who may have felt their career was well and truly in the toilet, have the courage to humiliate themselves on prime-time television. I hope that most of them acquire more fans, and don't fall flat on their arse by arguing, like Dollar and Sonia in Reborn.
Please let there be a DVD!
The only ones I hadn't heard of really were Junior and Princess. And damn Lee 911 for his bad timing, they'd better be on it! If he can perform in those sumo suits for Bodyshakin, he can damn well sit on a stool. I presume it'll be A Little Bit More anyway (boring stool song) and not the ace Love Sensation or Don't Make Me Wait, where they'd need to dance.

I got this from another group I'm in:
Vernon Kay hosts the new saturday-night show where yesterday's pop stars perform their old favourites and cover a song by a new act. 1st Show GLORIA GAYNOR Her Hit - I will Survive The act covering - Kylie Minogue HOWARD JONES His Hit - What is Love The act covering - Dido HONEYZ Their Hit - Finally Found The act covering - Nickleback TIFFANY Her Hit - I think we're alone now The act covering - Girls Aloud LIMAHL His Hit - Too Shy The act covering - Maroon 5
I have decided this series is getting taped for posterity.

Nick was the founder member of Kajagoogoo..... and Limahl Kajagoogoo's lead singer is going to be on the same show! Nick was the lead singer after Limahl had left, wasn't he?! I liked his singing better actually, at least in "Big Apple". And his quasi-dreadlocks, or whatever they were, were more spectacular than Howard Jones's depressing mullet. I'm looking forward to him upstaging both in this program.

TIFFANY The act covering - Girls Aloud This is going to confuse the hell out of the cameramen, they're used to being told to avoid focusing on the ginger girl during performances of GA songs. They won't know where to point their cameras.

It's the first time on Saturday nights that I've had so much to watch. Usually what *I* consider to be quality TV, and what ITV and the BBC consider to be quality telelvision, hardly ever joins in quality television harmony. Taping ITV1... watching BBC1... watching ITV1... then watching more ITV1 stuff on video... Hours of dancing, aliens and one-hit-wonders. Thank god I have a VCR and no Saturday night social life or I'd be fucked.

Typical, you wait months for decent telly to come along, then three come along at once (Doctor Who, Hit Me Baby... and Footballers' Wives).
Just think, once Big Brother rolls around none of us will be able to leave the house again!
(Note to self: must get a life).

I don't recognise any of the Howard Jones song titles but I'm sure I'll recognise the song when I hear it. That's usually the case with pop stars from the 80s, considering I was 3 when the decade ended. I know about 3/4 of the people in the line-up though so I can't be doing too badly. I'm really looking forward to Tiffany doing GA - which song do you think she'll do? I hope NGA. Probably one of the 80s sounding ones for obvious reasons. Some of the covers are going to be very bizarre - Honeyz covering Nickelback? They were probably around when Nickelback started anyway. And Mr Synthpop doing Dido?!

i cant stand tiffany and her contrived shopping mall touring bland strain of pop.
Hopefully Howard will woo the crowds. He is actually a very good working synth musician and sound techie as well as being a good singer.
I'll be watching this on sat before I go out!
