There is something not quite right about seeing wrinklies up on stage singing their hearts out. Oh I know that is ageist but nevertheless that is how I feel..

[/quote so the biggest selling artist of the 80s doesn't have the right to enter the show? what do you know? so who would you say should enter? The spice girls? 5ive? get real - it is a show for people who were stars in the 70s and 80s.....and maybe just maybe early 90s. but to say that just because somebody is older they shouldn't be on it is a load of crap! Shaky will win - he has enough fans!]

Boo, let me just say when I said that bout Miss Jaki I was talkin' bout her moves on that stage I didn't mean 'what she doin' on that stage' as if she didn't deserve to be there. Miss Jaki was the best vocally for me and I voted for her but those moves on stage were freakin' wild!

I thought Shaky was awful, couldn't understand half of what he was singing but it was nice to see him back on tv in a "I wonder what so-and-so looks like now?" sort of way.
Im loving the show though (Tiffany was fab last week, and im ashamed to admit i did have a bit of a soft spot for Limahl bless him....) and im so looking forward to Chesney Hawkes. I just really wish Rick Astley was taking part - now that would indeed make my year!

Jordan Knight (of New Kids from the block fame) will now appear on the show Hot! Do you know if he'll be singing a New Kids number or his absolutely sensational classic solo hit "Give It To You"?

It'll be a New Kids song, witnesed by the fact that Limahl didn't sing Never Ending Story and someone else who used to be in a group did a group song rather than a solo hit. That said, no idea who.
Anyway, who is he replacing?

I wasn't referring to Shakey in particular, I was referring to the whole concept of the show. It just seems kind of sad to me watching people relive the past. Even their voices weren't as good as in their heydey. And what happens to the winner? Will they be a one hit wonder like most reality tv show winners?

ANd as a fan of several of these acts it would be brilliant to get the opportunity to see them in concert!

Wheres gary numan? He should be there, hes always trying his best to launch a comeback Well Gary Numan a) never went away and is still working on his albums and touring in the UK and US. b) was a long running artist with many hit albums and singles over a long period of time unlike some of the throwaway popstars on here. c) tends to not go for this "I used to be an 80s celebrity, come look at me again" trend as he has continued changing and recreating himself for each project. Have a look at his site numan.co.uk . His output over the last ten years has been more industrial sounding but is realy good, If you only get one of the 'newer' numan albums get Exile.

I have a feeling that Jordan Knight might be replacing 911, due to little Lee having a rather nasty injury to his leg. I believe I have tickets for the Jordan date.....and I can't wait! I'd prefer he sang a New Kids song though Also everyone plleeeeasssse vote Nick Heyward this week, I am obsessed with that man I have a thing for older smiley men, and he fits into that category nicely.

I agree with you, gary numan is very good and have some of his latest stuff, but hes now smalltime its sad to say.He could make it big again if he went on to win on the program, but singing was never his strongpoint, his music makes him a great artist. I`ve seen him live on several occasions and his music is great live, but still needs singing lessons, lol.

his music isnt that type of music at all where having a clear singing voice is needed.
He can sing and does what he can with his voice which makes it a very characteristic quality in his music.
If you know about him maybe see his site regularly or have read his book you'll no he would have absolutely no interest in HMBOMT at all. In fact for an artist like him to be on the show I would see as a little insulting and badly placed.
Like when he's been put in dance tents at festivals on the strength of one track hes done or something.

I'm comforted by the fact that the twentysomething illiterates on one of the 911 groups I'm a member of have been talking about gigs they have scheduled in the coming weeks, which they still seem to be honouring. I am quite excited about seeing Jordan though. Damn him for not doing an NKOTB song! Damn the rest of NKOTB for not joining him!

I'm sad about 911 too. "Don't go changing, rearranging" still pops into my head at un-expected moments. *sighs* I also do agree with you about them just having one hit out of this show but I do believe that it may mean that some of these acts will get to tour again. ANd as a fan of several of these acts it would be brilliant to get the opportunity to see them in concert! True. No-one is promising a recording contract for these people (I did miss the first show, so sorry if I got that wrong), and it would be unrealistic to think that any more than a handful would be able to return to the charts in any way shape or form - let alone with any staying power. However, a lot of these artists released their music before CDs were invented, so the opportunity to shift some back-catalogue will arise for those with a back-catalogue - ie not the one hit wonders, and more universally it will give them all the chance to add 'As seen on tv' to their tour posters! As well as the tv show itself a few of them are doing press they wouldn't have got otherwise and alert their fans to the fact that they still like making music and to look out for a tour of their own. A HMBOMT album of the covers (if the singles is too political) and a tour of the finalists plus a few others could sell well, especially in the run-up to Christmas.

Baccara on TV tonight!
I'm sure they won't win, but I'm so happy.
Then I'll watch Dr Who - It's like some '70's time warp.

I disagree. Nick and Carol were great. So was Mica but she's got a radio show and she's recording an album so she doesn't need it. Baccara were dissapointing, and the Pasadenas were good, but not to everyone's taste, and basically a bit of a no hoper. By the way, am I sick and twisted or is Nick still quite cute? I realsise he must be in his 40s but, hey, so is Tom Cruise...

Great news. What I saw of the show she was the best and China in Your Hand is a classic. She sang it well too. I wasn't at all convinced she'd pull off Superstar, but she changed it enough to suit her voice.

Someone I know claims to have bummed Nick in the early 80s, but it appears he has ladybummed a woman to produce a son.

Next week... Sinitta The Real Thing Hue & Cry China Black Hazel O'Connor Hue & Cry! I was thinking when I saw the list that they would have made a good entry. China Black! I love Searching! Think it's gonna need to be Sinitta though, the others have stiff competition there, providing she's not shit.
