I had to vote for Jessica Simpson! Her voice is so fucking irritating in 'These Boots Are Made For Walking'!! I can't stand all the nazal squeekiness! She also tries to sing in some sort of weird accent, totally fails and just sounds like she's having a multiple orgasm. I just can never understand a word she says.
listen to the beginning of These Boots Are Made For Walking and you will find that it sounds like she's saying
"you keep sayen you bort sommeain for maay well arfdessard don mina say you doo"

I'd like to vote for Chris Martin, but he's not the most irritating voice in pop. He's the most irritating voice in crap. So I voted for the just plain awful Jessica.

I went for Heather. She's a good singer, but after a few songs she sounds a bit like a fog-horn. Mel C was a close runner-up, but when she was with the Spices she didn't sound so bad.

I would say Hilary Duff, but I'm not sure she counts since her singing voice isn't actually her it's the computer.

MelC. Christ! It's so technical, cold and lifeless. It has no depth at all. At least the other spicers had something going for their limited vocal ranges: Victoria had some style, Emma's was sweet and melodic, MelB had some throaty sexiness to it, and Geri had ... well it's definitely her own voice, eh? But MelC's was always only good as a 'flourish' here and there.

Just saw the video for Mel C's 'I Turn To You' and I never realised how much she looked like a 45 year single mum pikey from Redding! And the name Mel goes perfectly with the image. Seriously!! It looks like she's won a competition to make a music video!

No Lee Ryan option? Oh dear. I've never liked him because he always hogged on the Blue records! Breathe Easy was an AWFUL track! And he totally over cooked it, and made sure no one else got a chance to sing it. What a cunt!

How did Britney Spears get left out of this? Her voice grates on me. When they play it at the gym my punches and kicks get alot stronger!
I voted for Jess though. Although she can sing she's trying to sound husky and you can hear her cutting her voice off at the throat and signing out her nose. Use your frickin diaphram love!

Anastacia for me. Her voice cuts right through me. It sends shivers down my spine in a bad way.

Jessica Simpson... SING PROPERLY! Underneath all of those trills and octave changes and the "big, dramatic" shrieking, there might actually be a decent voice...

I read a story a while ago (Popbitch/Holy Moly, I think) which revealed that the folk at Stars in Their Eyes have a list of 'safe' songs. These are easy tracks which they give the more tone-deaf celebrity guests to sing, based on the fact that nobody could possibly cock them up.
Apparently 'These Boots Were Made for Walking' is a popular one for the likes of Caprice.

Macy's voice is an acquired taste I think. It suits her material. It suits the kind of people who are likely to listen to her music.
I don't think Anastacia's voice is irritating at all. A little bit nasally at times, but not irritating.
Heather Small sounds like Kermit The Frog. Which is as highlarious as it is irritating, and therefore is allowed.
Mel C was in The Spice Girls ergo can do no wrong. And her voice isn't irritating.
People who buy Jessica Simpson records don't buy them for the music do they? But yes, her arse rape of 'These Boots' must be punished.
It's easy to ignore Celine Dion. So just don't go to Las Vegas.

Yes but Jessica Simpson has gains some points back for doing one hell of a cover of Angels (The original was great too) But Jessica should really just avoid covers. She RUINED Take My Breath Away too. I would say the most annoying voice in pop is Ashlee Simpson

Yes, he would have gotten my vote had the option been there. In his absence, I went for the adenoidal nightmare that is Celine Dion. She's not nice.

Anastacia's voice doesn't irritate me. Her music, on the other hand....
From the list there's absolutely no contest - it has to be Jessica. Her thousand-miles-off approximation of a sexy voice on These Boots... is just hilarious. At least it makes a pleasant change from her banshee-like wailing on every other song she does. She and subtlety might eventually meet, but I doubt they'll ever form a lasting relationship.
When Britney picks the wrong song (e.g. My Prerogative) she actually borders on the unlistenable. And yes, Lee Ryan should be on the list. Outwith the confines of pop, the overall prize goes to Embrace's Danny McNamara. No punishment is too harsh for whoever told this droning abomination that he was a good singer.

Oooh, torn between Anastasia and Celine Dion. Celine has to get it though.
I always wished that instead of her singing the "Go on" bits in "My Heart Myust Go On", it was Mrs Doyle from Father Ted.

Charlie Simpson's voice is yummy. Husky and deep and skflgjhkljk.
