Its been confirmed that dannii minogue's new album will in fact be a 21 track greatest hits, with 6 new songs and the 2 singles from last year. this will also "hopefully" be a double disc album, with the 2nd disc being a dvd containing dannii video's. whilst i am a bit dissapointed that we arent getting a full new dannii album, i really love this idea and i think it could really help boost dannii's profile too.
here are the tracks that are on the album, not in this order and to be confirmed next week by dannii herself.
love and kisses success jump to the beat baby love show you the way to go this it it all i wanna do everything i wanted disrememberance who do you love now? put the needle on it i begin to wonder dont wanna lose this feeling you wont forget about me perfection
PLUS the new songs
so under pressure i cant sleep at night gone love fight new song possibly one more new song
also, the new single "so under pressure" has a new b-side and danni's version of "xanadu" (which is said to be a bit goldfrappy) is to be released soon on the "road trip" compilation cd.
im in dannii heaven!!

Dannii's new material being downgraded to "bonus tracks" after almost two years of interviews in which she touted it as being really brilliant stuff, her best work, etc? I'm sorry, but this is very disappointing news. AATW can naff off.

Not a bad idea. Face it it's hard selling albums if you are not James Blunt's cousin. The DVD sounds awesome. I have a promo VHS of her Oz Video Singles collection and the videos are hilarious and great, at the same time. Problem is her first 3 singles feature the oroginal Oz mixes, so Love & Kisses isn't that great.

I think in her early videos she looks like Karen Walker having some sort of drug-influenced flash-back. You can't beat puppy-fat Dannii bopping around to an aimless phat beat, snapping "let's do it". You heard the girl!
Shame Get Into You won't be on there - the video is one of her most beautiful. Boogie Woogie deserves better.

Well I'll buy it. But I doubt many other people will. Should Love Fight happen to be as amazing as it's meant to be though, and crossover enough to do at the very least a Push The Button, it might *just* sell albums.

I think it will do well.
Dannii has never done a Best Of album (apart from Australia - which was rushed).
She's had a string of Top 15 singles... Love And Kisses, Success, Jump To The Beat, Baby Love, This Is It, All I Wanna Do, Everything I Wanted, Who Do You Love Now, Put The Needle On It, I Begin To Wonder, Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling, You Won't Forget About Me and Perfection.
Her new single is a stomper.
What a great way to introduce her back into the album market and then follow with a studio album. Better than releasing a studio album and dropping her.
Think about it!

I'm sorry, but this is very disappointing news. AATW can naff off. Well no they're not being downgraded to 'bonus tracks' are they? No doubt at least two'll be used to promote the record. I know people have been slagging AATW off about how they're handling Dannii but maybe, just maybe they'll get it right afterall by actually using the basis she's formed over her years in pop as opposed to all her other companies who just started from scratch I mean her fans might be disappointed and after such a long time waiting it's easy to see why I suppose but let's be realistic they're the people who would go out and buy a Dannii Minogue album anyway, unfortunately I don't think anyone can say that base is big enough to create a success. Even if "So Under Pressure" is great and does really well. do we really think it'll shift an lp? Dannii needs to attract the people who wouldn't naturally go out and buy one of her albums and putting out a greatest hits might do that. They like the new single which draws attention to the fact she has this record out and think 'hmmm I liked "I Begin To Wonder", "All I Wanna Do", "This Is It" etc.. I might pick it up'. Done right (and it seems AATW are gonna push this, there's talks of a tv ad campaign) it could work really well, raising her profile and having that knock-on effect of people thinking 'Ooooh actually I do like Dannii' and if it does then maybe this time next year we might be discussing her next album rather than what record company'll pick her up now. Ok it might not work but if "So Under Pressure" can't sell a record with a tracklisting of recognisable hits it sure as hell ain't gonna sell a record of songs no-one knows, so I can't see what they have to lose. Like I said from a fans point of view it might be disappointing but it's an understandle move what with pop albums struggling and to be honest 6 new tracks on a greatest hits sounds alright to me.

dannii's fans seem to be quite divided on this greatest hits issue, while i LOVE the idea, some really hate it and are even quite angry!! but then, they are angry half the time on her forum anyway, iv noticed...
overall, i think real dannii fans have embraced this idea and can see its a good thing for dannii to do at this point in her career. despite what anybody says, dannii has been having a successful music career for 15 years now, and is at her peak so its the best time to reflect on this i say!

It is a good time to reflect, sure (cash cow), but she has been hyping an album that now will not exist in the form everyone thought it would take. haha, it's quite silly really.

21 in one CD... is it possible??
Dissapointed... but I think release a greatest hits is the most reasonable thing after releasing You Won't Forget About Me and Perfections with 5 months of difference and not releasing a new single after Perfection.

I'm in a bit of a quandry about this one.
I have to say that I think Neon Nights is one of my favourite pop albums ever. It beats any of Kylie's efforts (although Light Years and Rhythm Of Love are perhaps on a par).
Her first three albums were awful though. Love & Kisses and Girl each had a few good tracks, but Get Into You...christ, what a mess!!! I only really like Love's On Every Corner from that, and it's not even on the Best Of tracklisting (mind you, it didn't even make the top 40 I suppose).
Anyway, I digress. Yeah, I was really looking forward to the new Dannii album. I had high hopes after the genius of Neon Nights, and I lurrrve You Won't Forget About Me. Perfection's not bad either. It was all quite promising, so when I read this I was a little disappointed.
But then I thought, well, what we're actually getting is practically a whole new album (6 new tracks + You Won't...and Perfection) tagged onto a greatest hits. Which is pretty cool, no?

It's almost like they're announcing that Dannii is over and this album is her swan song. I'd beg to differ. If anything I'd say they're annoucing that they're thinking about the long term. Not the usual 'well we've got Dannii, let's hope for the best' attitude her previous labels had. You know, I don't really like Dannii, but I think I would buy a greatest hits. I imagine she'd be quite good to listen to whilst I was straightening my hair. This is exactly the reaction I imagine they're going for.

I think releasing a greatest hits at this moment in time is a mistake. New material could introduce her back into music. I'd say release a new album, then if necessary a greatest hits.
Big disapointment for me.

As long as it means I can finally get my hands on Love Fight (which IS as amazing as everyone says it is, having heard it on an iPod at a party about two years ago), I don't care what she does.
The only problem I can see is that everyone always expects GH albums to sell well, and if it doesn't it'll be a big blow.

Let's see it this way - if it flops we'll have a nice ending to the recording career of the Dannii Minogue.

The only problem I can see is that everyone always expects GH albums to sell well, and if it doesn't it'll be a big blow. That's true, but if an album like this can't sell, then an album of original material would do worse, so I think it's the sensible thing from the point of view of the record company and for Dannii. A bit shit for hard-core Dannii fans who wanted a whole album of fresh stuff, but given the current climate etc etc .... Dannii reminds me a bit of Beverley Knight in so far as a lot of people claim to like a lot of her music, and the critics say nice things and she's been around for ages with most people knowing who she is, but not that many people making the leap to buying a whole CD. At least she won't be promoting it with a ropey cover! In fact, the more I think about it, the more I'm looking forward to it. I am looking forward to hearing this song of songs everyone has been speaking about, and some of the classics, particularly from the Neon Nights era will be put back on rotation. I'm still gutted that album didn't sell better, despite Cat Deely's best efforts!

I love the idea of a best of and DVD of all the videos, but it does sound like Dannii is over.
I remember them doing a similar thing with Cathy Dennis' second album (tacking on a remix album of her first hit-filled album) and Bananarama's 'Please Yourself', which was backed with a remix album of their SAW highlights.
As long as we get to hear 'Love Fight' I don't care. I think this must be one of the most anticipated and delayed songs ever!
