I Can't Sleep At Night is pretty crap, isn't it? I can see exactly why they changed it to Perfection.

"so under pressure" is amazing. after the first listen i loved it, while my other half was a bit dissapointed. i can tell it will grow on people after a few listens. and the videos great, very goldfrapp. overall, im very impressed.

If it was Goldfrapp people would be raving about it. Mmmm, people would be talking about it that's for sure (as in, "When did Alison start doing Kmart ads?") .... anyways, on the bright side, the video is only about as half as cheap and tacky as the song.

None of this "give it a few listens", it was pretty much instant love for me. The clip's not bad either really. The actual song, as someone mentioned on the last page, it heavily smells of a few brilliant aspects of early 90's house. Really impressed, 600 times better than the dire "I Can't Sleep At Night", which I'm very happy has not seen the light of day as a single.

Wow. I think it's fantastic and I know that it will grow on me as well. I can see myself getting a little obsessed with it. With proper airplay and promotion (some hope!) it could be huge.
ETA: Is that a sample of the very beginning of Eurythmics 'Here Comes The Rain Again' looped in the background of the song?

The song is pretty good, but I think I might have just discovered a snake phobia. That video gives me the heebie jeebies.

I quite like it, but it might have helped if they wrote a chorus so it actually WENT somewhere.

I love it. A million times better than the other AATW crap-this has really come as a pleasent surprise. The song and video are very simple, but in a catchy way and i think this could appeal to the pop lovers and the more dance-y crowd. You can bet she'll be shooting up the FHM sexiest list too, with this video

It doesn't really go anywhere And what was the point of the snake? It's meant to be a metaphor for the phallic image of the penis thus men will subconsciously imagine Dannii with a penis wrapped around her neck. I thought she was meant to be a lesbian though? Wouldn't it be more apt for a little beaver to be crawling about her in the video? Actually, the snake has biblical connotations too. It's the form that Lucifer appeared to Eve as proving, if you all doubt it, that 'The Evil One' has a good sense of humour to appear as a phallic shaped animal to the naked Eve.

It's the form that Lucifer appeared to Eve as proving, if you all doubt it, that 'The Evil One' has a good sense of humour to appear as a phallic shaped animal to the naked Eve. With all this talk about metaphors maybe this crap song is a metaphor for her abismal career (I just wanna get out). It has always occured to me that she treats her singing as a hobby rather than a serious career. It's been sporadic at best. She releases a single or two which have initial success, the album drops, she gets dropped, and the cycle continues (incidently with the same label Warner except this time around). I was so happy just yesterday after recieving an actual listenable copy of I Can't Sleep At Night and now sadness has creeped in after hearing this shit song. Most of you hate I can't Sleep At Night but it just pisses and shits all over this new song. If this is the lead-in single for her greatest hits I really can't see anyone buying the album based on this song, I know I wouldn't. Ultimately if the project fails (and I hope it doesn't) it can all be blamed on an excrutiatingly long wait and bad single choices. If we actually think back to the first signs of new material, You Won't Forget About Me (which is 2 years old?) should really be considered the first single just as I consider Who Do You Love Now the lead-in for Neon Nights. So: 1-You Won't Forget About Me 2-Perfection 3-I Can't Sleep At Night (cancelled) 4-So Under Preasure 5-Love Fight (hopefully) and only just the first single will be coming out soon. Also, who's idea was it to premiere this shit song so soon? By the time it officially gets out everyone will be sick of it. She seems to suffer the Rachel Stevens syndrome in terms of really bad planning and timing of her second album material. I predict top 20 if she's lucky. Like someone mentioned earlier, she should have leaked the "shocking lesbian romp" thingy around the time of the single's release at least to get everyone talking about her again. Someone over at sayhey posted a fake album cover. While hilarious at first, sadly it might actually be the reality of this project: Hopefully they eventually release I Can't Sleep At Night, maybe do a little reworking on it and here's hoping they get to a point of releasing Love Fight.

I think the problem with her new material is that she doesnt have strong/catchy choruses. Pluse her songs sound like they were recorded in a cheap studio in her basement.

Which catalogue is Dannii modelling for theses days? The video is part Matalan commercial, part iconic glam sex kitten femme fatale. Her skin looks remarkably supple, yet 1 of her dancers suffers the humiliation of looking like Kemal, which I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
Thankfully, it seems she knows how to be Dannii Minogue again. She appears like a voluptuous 1950’s symbol of celluloid fantasy, exposed luridly, like glorified glinting bait to hook the fish. DM may not be the best singer, yet her whole package makes her infinitely more exciting than most could ever hope to be – a primitive force in affordable high street fashions and gigantic killer kitsch platform heels. She has been away for far too long, and is no longer at the apex of her power, so re-packaging herself has been necessary.
Some of the poses are really iconic and amongst her most striking. Although with the pearl necklace she loses her neck a bit, but it’s a nice reminder of her puppy-fat / prototype Karen Walker early years. This video is significant, for it shows her wielding the power the glamour available to her affords her. However, Gina G got here first by means of the faux Hollywood starlet bathing-costume posing. Yet Dannii, in a sense, was the first of her kind and really prepared the way for similar stars.
Within a really sinewy structure, the track manages to casually break loose, writhing and spurting gallic electro elegance. The stuttering sensation of pernicious allure that Dannii conveys, a release so uniquely hers, catches quickly. Pace is breezy with nice touches, such as stylish delays that focus on a haughty or peculiar pronunciation. The aerated synthesiser-based track sustains an adroit adrenaline rush, transcending her limitations, distinctive to her style of music.

I have to say that I think Neon Nights is one of my favourite pop albums ever. It beats any of Kylie's efforts (although Light Years and Rhythm Of Love are perhaps on a par). I don't know how you can compare Dannii to Kylie, Kylie is in a much higher league.

Is it just me or do the verses of So Under Pressure remind anyone of 'Disco Down' by Kylie?

I think it works well as anonymous background lounge music. Funky, but unmemorable.

People keep talking about having I Can't Sleep At Night, but are they meaning the Wigan Pier version, or the real version and if the real, I need need NEED!!!
Someone help, like now!!
Regarding SUP - well, as previously mentioned, a chorus would have been nice, other than that, I think it's amazing (in a Dannii amazing way, not full stop). Obviously, it reeks of no.28 and if this is to sell a Best Of, then I really feel for the lady.
Still, it's better than Perfection, so we should all be thankful of that really. Also, does anyone else get a feeling of SEB's Mixed Up World when watching the vid and hearing the song?

I agree that the video is very Mixed Up World but that's no bad thing!
I think So Under Pressure suffers the same problem that I have with the new PSB song - a repeated phrase over and over does not a catchy pop chorus make! Otherwise I love both songs' verses and production.

Nobody really compares Kylie to Dannii unless provoked - I see massive differences between them actually. Kylie has mastered that rare feat of being able to combine innocence with raw sexuality whilst Dannii is just slutty and sexual without the finesse. Obviously Kylie is better but sometimes Dannii can be okay.
Let's not bash the Minogue Underdog.

Who locked poor Dannii in that box with all those bugs?
Anyway, I think the song is quite catchy. I like all the modern sounding synthy things and blips and what-have-yous.

Thanks, David.
She sounds more like Kylie than I've ever heard her before on this song.
I think it's one of her best songs......(...one of Kylie's better songs that is....*smirk*)
I really like it. I hope it's a hit for Dannii.
It reminds me of a SAW production a bit.....there is something Mel & Kim-ish about certain key changes...

The best part about the video is clearly that Dannii is lying between and caressing a woman's legs after being caught on cctv having what appeared to be lesbian romp

I think So Under Pressure and I Can't Sleep At Night are both ok - not amazing or anything. Is it just me or does anyone else think that I've Been Waiting For You is the best thing she's done since Who Do You Love Now? It may not be a particularly 'in' sound (90's piano house?) but it's really well done and catchy. She should really stop with the vocalisations of instrumental club hits - it's very rare that they actually turn out decent (e.g. WDYLN)

Thanks for the link to the video. I was feeling left out.
I do feel sorry for Dannii. Arguably the better singer, but always, always in Kylie's shadow. She's a bit like Javine - people can't quite take to her.

I think Danni's a bit better than Javine......Javine is just....BORING.....no star quality....
At least Dannii is sexy.....and that's something coming from a gay man like myself....
