Watching Javine on The Games reminded me of a cheap slag who lives on a council estate and gets called 'The Bike'. That's a bit unkind. I worked with Javine and she's a real sweetie; her mum's lovely too. They seem like a tight family. I think the problem with Javine was that the label she was signed to was practically shut down when Hugh Goldsmith left after her first single. She didn't have a mentor and everyone involved in that project just lost thier way a bit. It's a shame. Javine's a great performer.

what happened to javine? has she got a deal still or not? i absolutely love her to bits and want new material. anyway, back to dannii, i have 3 versions of i can't sleep at night, the original radio version, the kb project (wigan pier) mix, and the friday night posse mix, and i have heard so under pressure, i think the new one is catchy, but possibly her weakest single. i really wanna hear love fight, it has 2 b a single and might save her, but i agree with most people, her new vid looks like a commercial for matalan or tk-max!

At least Dannii is sexy.....and that's something coming from a gay man like myself.... Not really. Dannii looks like a tranny most of the time.

Actually most straight people I know seem to think Dannii's more sexy than Kylie and looks more 'dirty'. The problem with Kylie is that she has a nice face, but the body of an under developed 12 year old.

Kylie may have the 'body of an under developed 12 year old' but her pop career isn't as underdeveloped as Dannii's 'career'. Obviously.

Kylie is sexy in androgynous kind of way - Dannii's more of a classical pin-up girl, especially in the SUP video, I think.

Unless it unveils some kind of hidden hooks and becomes a grower So Under Pressure will be So Under The Top 30! Shame...

Poor Dannii.
Even a thread specifically about her ends up being about Kylie's tits. No wonder she's never had a number one.

I know, bless her. Who needs Dannii Minogue when you have *insert appropiate glitter and such here* KYLIE MINOGUE!!!!11TWELVEHUNDREDZILLION etc, I guess?
I don't think about her much and I've never bought a Dannii album but I find her oddly...reassuring. She squeezes out a couple of good songs that do bugger all, goes away for about a decade then comes back with a few more pop crackers - all without ageing too much. It's like she's a pop robot that has had countless upgrades, or something.

Having read Mr PJ's take on the Danniigate fiasco I capriciously find myself agreeing with him 100% (so ignore the fact that a few days ago I thought that the Greatest Hits album would be acceptable as a way of reminding a snoozie Pop world that she exists). It IS actually a lame affair! BUT BUT BUT how faboo is the new song!? And the new video is so Kylie circa 1989 that it has instantly become my favourite video of the past 24 hours.
Lovin' it!

I think it's really quite good. It's not an I Begin To Wonder or Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling beater, but it's better than Perfection and probably on a par with You Won't Forget About Me.
It's certainly better than most of the dross-pop that's bothering the charts at the moment.

Chances are we would have got an album of about 6 good songs and a load of filler, if we get 6 new songs and 3 singles with new b-sides on that's about the same as a new album so, in the words of 'love and kisses' -"So what's your beef?". This may, just may, re-aqquaint the casual fan with Dannii and ensure that a new full studio album does happen. Greatest hits can sometimes make an artist, look at what happened to Beautiful South after their first greatest hits, it was a a massive success and afterwards stretched their career out much further. Of course they've gone off the boil now but it helped for a while and the same thing could possibly happen here, she could have tried to grab the limelight whilst Kylie was ill but she's been very respectful and kept a low profile til Kylie seems to be improving so the public could have a lot of goodwill behind her for this. The video looks like it was filmed on the 'Popworld' set, but we were never gonna get a major budget for it. Less negativity and more positivity for Dannii, she's far better than some of the crap out there, and in the current climate i think this collection is timed just right.

Dannii does have a lot of pop gems hidden away in her (mostly duff) albums - Jump To The Beat, This Is It, All I Wanna Do, Disremberance, Who Do You Love Now, I Begin To Wonder all spring to mind.
I think she will benefit from the "more hits than you know" type of advertising that works for some artists. Somebody who would never dream of buying a Dannii Minogue album might buy this if it gets TV or magazine advertising.
As long as the DVD happens and the album includes the legendary Love Fight I will be a happy camper.

I think after the brilliant Neon Nights, fans were expecting a follow-up just as ambitious. It's a bit cynical, don't you think, to assume that whatever Dannii was originally going to release this year would have had only six good songs and the rest be "filler"? Besides that, the actual concept of an album means something to some people - artwork, sequencing, theme, mood. Some pop fans do not feel a greatest hits collection is the same thing, no matter how great it is.
Kudos to Dannii's people for constantly pushing the positive aspects of the forthcoming campaign, but it's quite obvious they've got a dog on their hands. I've no idea why anyone's excited about a DVD, as her videos have never matched the quality (ahem) of her music.

I don't think it's cynical to imagine that a new album would only have 6 good tracks plus a load of filler, a lot of artists can only deliver that kind of stuff, given her previous albums i'd say that was the kind of thing a new album would feature. If there are 6 new songs plus 'You won't forget about me' and 'Perfection' which would have no doubt been on said album you virtually have a new album, 8 fairly solid new(ish) tracks, plus (hopefully) re-mastered versions of some of the old singles. As I said add some new b-sides and you have an album. The greatest hits album will hopefully have some nice artwork to look at and this will be a cracker of a 'feel-good' album of fairly good pop hits. I can see no real negative to this collection, we fans get (hopefully) quality new material, the casual fan gets all the hits and some newer stuff. Dannii's profile gets raised above being Kylie's lesser known sister, and if the job is done properly and she doesn't bugger off with some millionaire boyfriend until 2010, we'll get a new Dannii album late 2007. Wonder if the supposed US dance remix of 'Love traffic' will be included?

'Neon Nights' was a nice little pop album and all that, but doesn't the general public treat Dannii with largely nothing but indifference? Judging by these boards, there's clearly a very loyal fan base there somewhere but I honestly think that Dannii's chance to break truly into the mainstream died with 'Neon Nights'. More recent singles have done well, but she's failed to capitalise on that and have really massive success.
I'm kind of stumped by the Greatest Hits plan. Tacking the real stinkers of Dannii's early career- and let's be honest, a lot of her early stuff minged- onto this album of new stuff seems to be a strange move. People who were more interested in Dannii's later stuff may not find ten songs' worth of shit too appealing. It would appear to diehard fans, but it's a new, additional audience she should be chasing now for any longterm, sustained success, no?

That's like saying Kylie's early stuff 'Got to be certain' 'Je ne sais pas' et al have no relevance to fans of 'Can't get you out of my head' and 'slow', granted, a lot of Dannii's early stuff isn't that great and I wouldn't recommend any of the albums but, in a dumb but fun way, 'This is it' ,'Baby love', 'Success' and 'Jump to the beat' have a certain 'oh my god remember this?!' charm to them, and 'All I wanna do' onwards leads up to where she is now. I think people will fondly remember some of the old stuff, look at all the recent hits and think, 'yeah, sounds like a good album', it's perfect for the getting ready to go out gay and hen party type audience, full of catchy dancey tracks and if the new stuff is any good will continue her appeal. what she really NEEDS to do is tour, say get a support with a big name act like Sugababes have done with Take That and then if that goes well do a tour on her own. I think as she seems fairly financially solvent she doesn't have the incentive to do that but I really think it would work wonders for her.

If Beverley Knight can release a successful Greatest Hits that has a weak ambassador as a single, Dannii has every chance.
The charts are lacking a lesbian chart topper now Ms Parks has gone back to Devon to work in Music Zone.
This would be great for those who are fans of The L Word etc. A lovely niche!!!
