It was brilliant. Does anyone know I could hear it again? Not impressed by Hue & Cry, though one of them is quite hot. But I never liked them in the first place really. Sinita was a total dissapointment and Hazel O'Connor - what? As for that CD, a lot of the artists on there either won't be appearing on the show or sung different songs, so i'm not sure it's official. It could be like that crappy Strictly Dance Fever knock off (Best Of Ballroom Dancing or something like that) and come with a free karaoke CD. Has a tour even been confirmed yet, anyway?

China Black were good, but a bit on the dull side. Their performance of I Believe in a Thing Called Love would have been more inspiring, if it wasn't a song that loads of people have covered already.
Not surprising, but Hue & Cry have a re-released lined up for 2nd May of what looks like a Greatest Hits meets a live album across two CDs. Maybe someone who remembers it first time round can enlighten us. It was release in 1987 when I was going through my Bananarama/Debbie Gibson/T'Pau phase.

Maybe someone who remembers it first time round can enlighten us. From looking at Amazon, it seems to be called 'The River Sessions'. Both level 42 and Culture Club have a 'The River Sessions' out on the same day too. Not sure that takes us any further.......

Next week includes Chesney Hawkes and Cleopatra from what I could see. I couldn't work out the rest.

Went to the show tonight and Shalamar were so far superior to any of the others that it was almost embarassing.
We left before the result (As it would have meant hanging around in the unsubsidised bar for 2 hours with a load of star struck provincial proles) but kind of figured that jordan was onto a loser.
Jordan Knight
Was fucking hopeless. He was making a fool of himself by even appearing on the show. He clearly had no idea what it was all about, but had been told it would be great exposure. By doing that first song he just shat all over any vague contemporary credibility he still had a positioned himself as a has been cabaret act. Whilst it's a great record it's not much of a song and doesn't work live at all especially if the performer can't either sing or dance. And how weirdly camp was he? I'm told that his "assistant" was as well. The girls all screamed but you could tell that their heart wasn't really in it. Where was 'Hanging Tough' when you need it? The second song was just bland and I talked all the way through it. As far as I could tell it didn't actually have a tune which was maybe a blessing because Jordan doesn't have a voice.
Rozalla
This was much more like it. Rosie looked a treat and had everybody with ther hands in the air to her rave anthem. The second song was a dodgy choice but she pulled it off.
Junior
Mama Used To Say is such a killer tune that you can't really go wrong with it and he was looking very young and dapper. The second track didn't really work because he didn't really give any urgency to the song and it therefore fell a bit flat. His voice wasn't quite what I'd been expecting either. In fact that's true of almost everybody on the series so far. We all (Well those of us old enough to) look back on our childhoods as a time when the pop stars were far superior to the modern era but so far nearly everybody has been piss poor vocally and shown very little star power at all. Seriously who so far could you imagine getting much past the first round of Pop Idol?
Sabrina
The only reason I wanted to go to the show proved that their really were only two reasons for her successful pop career. The woman had absolutely no sense of rhythm what so ever and was more botoxed than Kylie at a Desperate Houswives convention. Hole in My Head was a complete train wreck and if it wasn't for poor Hazel O'Connor would get the booby prize (Get it) as worst perf of trhe series so far. In a strange way she reminded me of Dusty 'O' which I know Dusty will take a a huge compliment.
Shalamar
A masterclass in how this sort of thing should be done. If you are going to appear on this sort of programme and actually publicize the fact that your career is in the toilet, at least show the public why you were so great in the first place. They sang great, they looked great (Especially Jeffrey Daniels my childhood style icon) they chose the best cover song of the series and most importantly they'd actually rehearsed. Quite simply they rocked. Easily the best turn so far. Now for the bad news. That wasn't Shalamar. Jeffrey was there and so was Howard but I'm sorry if you haven't got the goddess that is Jody Watley then you really shouldn't be pretending that it doesn't matter. Shalamar with out Jody is like ABBA without Agnetha - yes really that bad. They kept showing pictures of her and in all the interviews they acted as if the imposter (Whoever she was) was the real deal. Unfortunately for them there are some of us more eagle eyed and discerning pop fans who weren't fooled. In the queue on the way in we were saying that she surely wouldn't stoop so low and I'm glad to say that she didn't - although I would have gagged to see her. I wonder if they are going to keep up the pretence all the way through. Anyway who cares they were fantastic and deservingly won.
I think I might be hooked now. Going to see Sybil next week I think.

Would a man who you quoted as saying can't sing and dance have sold over 35 million records in his career?? So he isn't your cup of tea?? so what.... I've been a fan of jordan's for 16 years and it was great to see him back... And i'm glad i wasn't born with a small mind like some people... Well done Shalamar you were th right full winners and i know for a fact Jordan Knight agrees xx

I was wondering if it was Jody Watley, as it looks nothing like her from the Friends single cover I have, but then she could have had so much work done, a la Jennifer Gray, that she looks nothing like the old self.

I was there on Saturday and being a huge New Kids fan it was great to see Jordan about 3 foot away from me ![:)](http://www.popjustice.co.uk/banners/nosmiley.gif) although Shalamar were incredible, and as soon as I saw them cover Outkast I knew they'd won it! The audience were mainly Jordan fans, and despite him not winning I had a great time... Roll on this Saturday when I will be at the front of the audience rocking for Chesney!

Give It To You is a great record and he's still gorgeous, but he was awful. His singing was weak, his dancing horribe and his choice of songs disatrous. I don't think any of this because he's "not my cup of tea" or I was "born with a small mind" (A particulary stupid accusation to level at me) but because I was watching him through completely unprejudiced eyes and not having my judgement coloured by 16 years of fandom. It's great that you got to see someone that you love so much up close and I dare say you enjoyed it but that doesn't mean that he was any good just that you had a good time. It's not the same thing.

Wow! Cleopatra doing NGA! How will they manage that? They were more into r'n'b style pop then electro guitar pop. Perhaps Sugababes would be more suitable? Still, it will be fun! And I disagree that Chesney will win - does anyone really like him? He's fairly well known but only as a joke, and from what I've seen he doesn't really have that much going for him.

Jessica i so dont want Chesney to win!!! He's just come off The Games too!!! Tho people that have been tipped to win haven't always won like Jordan Knight and Gloria Gaynor I think a Girls Aloud song is a good choice, they are the current big girl band and it has good vocals on. No doubt Cleo will do alit something on it ![:)](http://www.popjustice.co.uk/banners/nosmiley.gif) VOTE CLEOPATRA... www.cleouk.com

Good idea Vasilios, I'll get right on it. Anyone think Jordan Knight looks better now than then? I only saw the show last night, spent the weekend in Amsterdam (top place) and while I was there I saw a programme "about" porn (yeah, it was basically porn) on which Jody Watley's sister was talking about having become a porn star, although she's changed her name, and I was stoned so this might not be that reliable... But anyway, does anyone know for a fact that wasn't Jody with Shalamar (who definitely deserved to win). I wasn't 100% either way.

Chesney's a dead cert to win really though isn't he? Especially after The Games. And he still does PA's at student union's around the country.
I'd love to see Cleopatra win though. I wonder if Yonah is still bigger than Zainam and Cleo put together.

Hi I'm new here. I wouldn't normally ask but did anyone here tape Show 5 (Jordan Knight, Rozalla, Junior, Sabrina & Shalamar)? I have so far taped all the shows and i missed this show. If you can help me out, we can sort out some kind of deal (i.e. either a trade with one of the previous shows i've taped or perhaps i can offer you cash for it!!)
Thanks all the best WorldMachine
P.S. Nick Van Eede to win Saturday & hopefully the overall competition

But anyway, does anyone know for a fact that wasn't Jody with Shalamar (who definitely deserved to win). I wasn't 100% either way. It wasn't. Firstly because they mentioned both of the other two by name but conspicuously never called the woman Jody and secondly because she had a different face. Jeffrey and Jody left in 1982. Howard carried on until about '87 with two new members and then some randoms joined and they staggered on until around 1990. I'm guessing she was maybe one of them.

I thought Shalamar were excellent and deserved to win on the night on performance but if Jordan Knight did a New Kids song he would have walked it...He did an excellent version of Mario's Let Me Love You .
That was definitely not Jody Watley on Sat

Dear Itv stuff, I keep reading about the Hit me baby one more time on show on the internet. I live in Greece where we sadly don't get Itv as you know. I've just sent my feedback too Vasilios, asking for a DVD and the other thing I'd like to see, a CD of the covers. I realise that English isn't your native language, and I don't mean anything by this really, but it probably didn't help that you referrede to them as "stuff" though...
Edit: I just noticed I spelt referred wrong. Serves me right.
