speaking of madonna. for those who dont know, she rejected the song "baby love" which dannii ended up releasing. i can imagine madonna singing it too, would have done a lot better.

Except this was all lies as Baby Love was sung in 1984-6 by Madonna-wannabe Regina. I think Stephen Bray or some other early-Madonna collaborator wrote it and maybe he went: Hey Madonna wanna sing this bubbly song that would take your career ten years back or you want to release Live To Tell and move to the next level?.
We kinda know what happened next.
That said Baby Love by Regina or Dannii is fabulous! But I love the album mix, not the Silk 7".

But being Kylie's sister has probably been the one thing that had stopped her fading into nothingness. While Dannii will always be 'Kylie's sister' and will never escape the tag or the association and did ride on the coat-tails of her sister to gain recogintion (well over here at least), she is established in her own right. Kylie might have been the reason we payed attention to Dannii but like mentioned just being a sibling of someone isn't enough (two words... Solange Knowles), it can give you a platform but after that it's up to you to make of it what you can and I think Dannii has done pretty well. She'll never be huge but as a minor/secondary popstar I think she's done pretty darn good. She does what she does extremely well and has enjoyed a moderately successful 15 or so year career because of it. Good on her! To be honest I don't think Kylie really helps or hinders Dannii's career nowadays, I think people pretty much make their own decisions and opinions about her regardless. I mean "All I Wanna Do" was one of her biggest hits at a time when Kylie was all but over and as we've seen many a time just cause Kylie does well don't mean Dannii definately will. As for this 'if you ask people to name 3 of Dannii's hits, they'd be stuck' thing. Well I think people are right....however....if you were to start listing off Dannii's singles I think a lot of people would have an 'oh yeah' reaction and I think that is what they're relying on. As such I don't think the record is gonna be a massive smash hit but I do think it more likely has the potential to be one of those that will do pretty well by hanging round the lower ends of the top forty forever.

When this collection was announced, Dannii's camp was going on and on about a "television campaign." Anyone seen it yet, or did AATW decide the money would be better spent on sky writing and fridge magnets?

She had an interview with T4 the other day www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HSSP4usgno&search=Dannii%20Minogue%20T4. She also has a popworld performance scheduled for this friday. And she's also doing a gig at "T4 On The Beach"She's going to be singing a Medley of her "hits" and 'So Under Pressure'

I actually like the Minogue underdog but her Wikipedia profile is bollocks: being christened the pioneer of modern electro-pop by critics and fans alikeIn what way is Dannii a pioneer? You must be taking the piss. Well, she kind of started a trend with electro pop, What with Holly Valance and others attempting to have a similar sound. Okay, I would disagree so here is my opinion. Electro pop has been around long before Dannii Minogue and ‘her sound’ which wasn’t really electro pop but rave pop, or really commercial club music which isn't always the same as electro pop. The Pet Shop Boys (Gods!) have made a whole career out of electro pop way before and even during Dannii’s career. I would stick in my two pence and claim that the electro pop renaissance came about through the intervention of Felix Da Housecat, Miss Kittin, The Hacker, Richard X, Fischerspooner and Goldfrapp. You can hear the influences in pop singers as diverse as Robbie to Rachel to Rihanna. As for her using Xenomania first, this may be true but other groups have made Xenomania well known, something Dannii didn’t manage. I only heard about them after Girls Aloud. I don’t want this to seem like a Dannii attack, I like the Minogue underdog and love So Under Pressure but to call her a pioneer is madness! If anything she always seems to get a new contract after Kylie has managed to get new one. She will, sadly, only ever be signed up to attempt and get some of the Kylie magic in her sales.

Actually, the electro pop flood gates were really opened after Sophie Ellis Bextor's debut album and of course Can't Get You Out Of My Head. If it hadn't been for Kylie, I doubt Come And Get It would sound the way it does. Seriously, I really believe that. Sophie Ellis Bextor's debut was really schizo, as though her label couldn't decide what to do with her - but there is Take Me Home and Lover.

I just wish This Is The Way and Love's On Every Corner were on the cd and dvd. Then it would be perfect.

Sometimes I think that. Sometimes I think: God, is that Kylie's new song. But sometimes she does have her own distinct voice. Very rarely.

Dannii used to have appalling enunciation - I defy anyone to make out 90% of the verses on Jump To The Beat. What the hell is she singing?

She sounds like she needs to clear her throat and blow her nose on 'I Begin To Wonder' aswell... but oh well.

At least Dannii never felt the need to "get serious" and do a wanky duet or a "tasteful" jazz arrangement of her past hits. And lordy, I hope she never does!

does anyone remember her on good morning with richard & judy performing 'all i wanna do' by the side of a leisure centre swimming pool by some potted plants to add that sense of 'tropical' to it.
This image has always remained in my head - danni = cheap cant afford to do proper tasteful promotion. I like her a lot mind you. she just needs a bigger wad of cash thrown at her and a video which doesnt feature her simply withering around on a turntable or boat or a kitchen or a studio floor looking like a sex starved kitten.

The "live" performance that sums up Dannii best occurred on the Sean Micallef Show in Australia. Midway through her song the camera cut away from Dannii to the host ... who had placed a small tv on his desk and was watching a tv show on another channel.

It looks like she has tried to escape 'popstar prison' and been shot.
...or b*tch slapped by Rachel because she wanted her gloves back?

Madonna has lots of brothers and sisters, at least 6 or 7 (I knew all their names at one point when I was a big fan!) I was always surprised that one of them never tried their luck at pop - probably were too scared of her reaction! actually her sister Paula did... and failed, her brother Martin started one sad attempt too, just both weren't .. Madonna. Sad...

She's either very proud of that jawline or has weights sown into the back of her skull. She just loves to get that head tilted right back, doesn't she?
I don't mind the odd Dannii tune, but there's absolutely nothing unique or outstanding about this artist's image or music at all. It could be anyone.
