Apparently... *SORT OF SPOILER ALERT* Jennifer Hudson is the highlight! And Elton's fave!! She was good, but last night belonged to LaToya London. Why can't people see how fab she is? I hate it that squealer & Mary-J-Blige-manque Fantasia Barrino gets all the soul loving. She was just OK. She's no Gabrielle! There were two highlights of the show. One was the look on JPL's face when Seacrest gave him a lingering pat on the back (don't miss this moment) and when the Hawaiian girls both started SOBBING the moment Elton John walks in...I mean, it's bizarre. The lowlight was John Steven's performance. Fuck me he's dreadful. The judges have never been more negative about a performance - EVER. In two hours someone goes home. This is good TV.

I've only just watched the 'Motown' show - Latoya London was the best on the night by a country mile - thought she was great and didn't deserve to be in the bottom 3. Jennifer was good too. I still think Jasmine is the winner - I think Fantasia is both 'not likeable' enough (she comes accross as a bit hard), and a bit too 'ghetto'.
John Steven's was dreadful. Absolutely appalling. As was Diana Degarmo. She's like an american version of Lolly - I hate her, she's just fake.
Amy Adams deserved to go, simply because she's so bland. I have no opinion on her whatsoever.

*********SPOILER ALERT (sort of)*********
Camille Velasco is gone. Hers is one of the most spectacular falls from grace on American Idol. Her first few performances were greeted with praise and adoration, but she kept getting worse throughout the competition. Now, she's gone!
How long can John Stevens go on? The grannies are voting him on....bitches!

Tamyra Gray was a bit rubbish. Into the Dumper with her, I confidently predict. Happily for Tam, her plunge into the depths of Dumperdom will be cushioned by Kimberley Locke.

Sort of embarrassing how much they rinse our Top 12. All of them, with the exception of the two Johns.
George Huff and Fantasia are fucking amazing. Top Two for them I reckon.

George is great. Fantasia is good but is kind of overrated IMO. Shame Camile's gone. She was a pretty face but was out of tune........

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you my Abomination Idol review. This weeks show was interesting........
Fantasia Barrino - Another great peformance, although she was screechy in some parts. I think that Simon was playing Devil's Advocate with her. Rating: 9/10
Jon Peter Lewis - His voice is just weird! Rating: 3/10
Jasmine Trias - This girl can sing, but why does she try to sing octaves higher than her range? It definitely shows. Rating: 5/10
John Stevens - The less said, the better!* Rating: -4/10
Geore Huff - It seems he can do no wrong. Always consistent, and NEVER out of tune. Very good. Rating: 10/10
Camille VElasco - Ugh. Just horrible. She can't peform, and she couldn't reach the low notes. Simon's comment was a bit too harsh. Rating: 1/10
Diana DeGarmo - I like this girl, and she can sing, but her peformances are too high school-ey. This is why Simon didn't comment, otherwise he would've been repeating himself from last week. Rating: 5/10 (come on!)
LaToya London - Okay. Was a bit boring, and it sounded like she was going to start sing Without You. Again, when she goes for the high notes, she starts to screech. Rating: 8.5/10
Jennifer Hudson - OVERRATED. It was good, but not to my liking. Too broadway. Also, the shows name should be changed to Hold-A-Note-For-More-Than-20-Seconds Idol Rating: 7/10
*This dick REALLY has outstayed his welcome. No stage prescene, and his conversations with Ryan contain no more than a minimum of 3 words. He really has become more than a joke. 70,000 people auditioned, and HE is in the finals
Overall, although Camille was bad, she didn't deserve to go before John. Everyone knew it, and knows it. Out of 9, I could only see 3 outstanding peformers - George, Fantasia and LaToya. Was it me, or did Paula actually criticize!?!
Another crap show to add to the pile.

Im wondering now whether George is the dark horse to win this. Like other winners before, he hasnt really come onto the winners radar... until now... maybe.
I bet Fantasia isnt happy about coming in the middle group. I was sure that was going to eb the bottom group until she joined it. I mean who IS voting for John Stevens?? He HAS to go!

It still surprises me how big Jennifer is - or maybe it's that everyone else is tiny?
Especially when she stands next to JPL or Ms London, the girl looks one huge mother.

This week it's "a trip to the movies" with special guest Quentin Tarantino... Yes, you read that right, the director of Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill is coming to American Idol.
If Diana DeGarmo sings "Moon River" I will have a stroke.

I’ve heard that the soundtracks of Grease, Footloose and Fame will be on show this week. Not good news – if John Stevens is singing ‘Footloose‘, I may kill myself. I can’t cope with another of his embarrassing songs.
The better news is that Quentin Tarrantino is guest judge. Hopefully, this may mean that some of his (much acer) soundtracks are used – Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction etc. ‘You Can Never Tell’ or ‘Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon’ from Pulp Fiction for George and Fantasia singing "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" from Kill Bill.

The better news is that Quentin Tarrantino is guest judge. Anyone who saw "Entertainment Tonight" last night will have seen Quentin big up American Idol and promise not to be "A typical guest judge who just lets everyone walk" - I expect some searing commentary from QT tonight, especially when it comes to the creepy contestants..i.e. Diana, John and {I hate to say it} JPL... Is it just me, or has JPL been like an extra out of Day of the Dead these past few weeks?

I've heard AI is being bumped tonight for George W's press conference. Instead AI will be shown Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Honestly, has Fox got ANY priorities?!!
I agree with the 'creepy contestants'. However, I think I quite like them like that! Diana The Cyborg is still my favourite. JPL is channelling Dawn of the Dead a little too much, isn't he? It's the dancing, isn't it? It's like how to make a zombie boogie.
Jennifer with her weird eyes and La Toya with her 'I'm so much more accomplished than everyone' ice cold attitude scare me more than the cyborgs and zombies.

It has been moved to Wednesday. And for George Fucking Bush!? You have a point, dizzie, about the La Toya and Jennifer. At the moment, I sort of want Fantasia to go away. Why must she touch everyone during her performances? Enough!

In honour of Quentin and the sound-tracks theme, all singers and John should pre-empt their performance with dialogue from a film, preferably with lots of swearing and mutha-fuckas.
I saw Quentin on one of the Simon Cowell documentaries last year. He was in the audience for one of the shows and said how much he loved it and Simon's ability to say exactly what needed to be said. He'd have been very proud of Simon's reference to Ed Wood and Plan 9 last week.

It was the best insult so far on AI. A full-on Pulp Fiction tribute Ford commercial needs to be done this week - get Quentin to direct and you're getting close to the best results show ever.

I want lots of guns and blood and a few bleeped "motherfucker's" too. John Stevens would be Honey Bunny. I may not watch the show tonight in protest. GWB was once again the robot President from Hell last night anyway.

I've heard the results show is being 'squeezed' to 30 minutes (i.e. less of the pointless filler than normal), and Christina Christian (AI series 1) is performing. I'm curious, having never watched the first AI season. Is she really Christina Milian with a different surname?
And they made Quentin re-record one of his critiques - he told La Toya he had '3 words - f'ing power house'. They made him re-say it without the f'ing, even though it's NOT a swear word! And they they go and show a Herbal Essences commercial with the Idol's wrapped only in towels - some of them are only 16!
(I thought La Toya sang Somewhere from West Side Story - the 'splish splash' is the Herbal Essences commercial)?

Maybe she did then. I only got them from someones review. I thought it was an odd choice!
Two Celine Dion songs in one show! Are they trying to torture us?
When me eyes rested on your post I just saw Christian (AI... and thought what on earth is Christian from a1 doing on it? But then I read it fully..
I sincerely hope John Stevens goes this week. I cant take much more!

Two Celine Dion songs in one show! Are they trying to torture us? Simple answer - yes! With the concerted efforts of John Stevens, JPL and co, I think they’ve been torturing us for weeks now! Bring on the special screechy magic of Celine songs and you have your bog-standard American Idol show (even if John Stevens is singing a song that actually suits his voice).

I was apalled by the Herbal Essences commercial, too. They paraded their underage bodies in front of 30 million people! JPL, however, looked sort of sexy in a towel. I totally get his appeal.
A few additional comments about this week:
*Was Paula high? She giggled through the entire thing. Plus, I swear Simon had his hand up her skirt at one point.
*THE WIZ? Dear George: You're the gayest of them all.
*JPL as Elvis. The world may never recover.
*QT vs. SC: Battle of the man-bitches
*Fantasia Does Broadway: Tears of a Clown?
*Dear Diana DeGarmo: Your heart may go on, but your hair must be stopped!

*Was Paula high? She giggled through the entire thing. Plus, I swear Simon had his hand up her skirt at one point. Ha, ha, can't wait to see this. Never a truer word spoken. Do you think America knows it's about to crown a gay idol (shades of Pop Idol 1 here)?

Do you think America knows it's about to crown a gay idol (shades of Pop Idol 1 here)*? I expect him to make it to the top 4 and then get voted off. America 2004 is in gay panic mode ("They want to get married, Marsha! That's the last straw!") so George will probably be axed. If he wins, I expect him to follow the Luther Vandross model of gay black man: silently out. ***SPOILER ALERT**** The idiots of America have voted off JPL in favor of John Stevens. Why? I mean, really, why prolong the agony of John Stevens for another week? JPL went out in style, however. I'll miss his sweet ass!

What? What? WHAT? Please say you are joking? Please? Sorry! It's the tragic truth. For his farewell number, JPL basically dove off the stage and took the American Idol cameras for a fantastic last-ditch tour of duty. It was the best farewell performance ever. He even rolled around on stage!
