I guess this one's for the Yanks on here. Who's actually watching AI this season? As Randy might say, I'm just not "feeling it" and I'm having a hard time staying interested.
The two Hawaiian girls, Camile and Jasmine, are the best things about it and surely anyone can see that one of them will win?
As for the boys: THEY'RE ALL UGLY IDIOTS. I'm sorry, but this is the WORST group of boys in the history of the show.
please don't change the title each week to show who got eliminated before us UK viewers see it. It's not very nice. Jamie

I had hoped Scooter Girl had gone though, as at least she had a personality. And does Ryan Seacrest get more plastic faced the more time goes on?

And does Ryan Seacrest get more plastic faced the more time goes on? I can't believe I liked him during season 1. He's just a complete goofball now. I did have to give him credit when that giant contestant put his hand on Ryan's knee during the "post-audition" moment and he didn't immediately jerk his knee away. Very confusing, however. Paula looks like her microdermabrasion didn't go so well...

The June Sarpong look-a-like should win purely because of her name.
The pop world is screaming out for a Fantasia.

Spoiler Highlight the text underneath if you want to read the spoiler . WoohooA big woo-hoo from me too! I love <so far unnamed contestant>! I have to say, I think it’s just as good as last year. Perhaps you’re blanking out the horrors that were Kimberly Caldwell, Carmen, Julia and Ricky (Hercules, Hercules – what the HELL was that about?) Smith! Not to mention the patriotic fervour that got Josh about 8 weeks further than he deserved. Fantasia and Latoya have huge potential to make this year a bitchy diva-fight to the end. Put in the cute 17 year old Hawaiians, an obnoxious football player (has he played at the Rose Bowl, has he really?) and especially my favourite <so far unnamed contestant>. I like the idea of two 16 year olds and three 17 year olds sharing a house – who’s gonna get John’s cherry?

I will keep watching, of course, because I'm a tragic no-life mess. "who’s gonna get John’s cherry?" is TRULY the question of the year. Yay!

What's happened to this? Even though Pop Idol was crap, at least it had some edge. This seems to be about as flat as it gets. When they go through, any sense of suspense is lost when they sing AGAIN. It's all a self-congratulatory pile of shit - just saw Simon Cowell cringing as the Top 12 boogied embarrassingly to Elvis.

What days are the shows aired in the US?
I thought the idea of putting through 1/3 of the finalists from the wildcard was a bit stupid.
Ryan Seacrest is just plain annoying now. Its the same lines every week.

"who’s gonna get John’s cherry?" is TRULY the question of the year. Yay! Seconded! The choice of boys is absolutely terrible this year. I'm not sure that the bitchfight will be between Fantasia and LaToya - LaToya seems mature and nice, but Jennifer looks like quite a handful. Camile and Jasmine seem sweet, Amy and Diana look like they'll be annoying. Both the Jo(h)ns seem nice, George is insane, but I'm unsure about Matt. Is that everyone? I'm looking forward to the next round to see who can sing more than 1 song, although I've heard that Clay is performing so I'll have my cushion and mute button at the ready. Jessica

Jessica Well you forgot Leah (my mommy and daddy are pop stars in Bulgaria) Labelle/Vladowski, but then, we're all trying to and she'll likely be gone by the end of this week! George IS insane, isn't he? I was embarrassed for him with the whole 'Big Daddy' thing he did with Simon (although Simon was his horribly narcissistic self and made George thank him over and over). It looked like he kissed Ryan's hand too! However, George seems a hugely likeable guy and, from the other contestants' reactions, was a genuinely popular choice. The worst part of the wildcard show was seeing how Ruben Studdard has managed to put on a few more stones in weight between his win and now. My god, I‘m surprised he can stay upright for any length of time – he’s just HUGE now. The best(worst) part was when they told 4 contestants they weren’t even going to sing. Poor Lisa, they’d decided she sounded like Kelly Clarkson and was out on her ear for that. Even Eric, even though I didn’t rate him, was saddled with the Clay MkII tag and booted. Biggest shock of the night was Leah getting in over Suzie Vulllaaaaa, just because Simon hates ‘I Will Survive’.

What days are the shows aired in the US? Tuesday (on Fox) is the actual show, with the 30 minute pointless rehash "results" show on Wednesdays. I'm truly, deeply confused by George. He's kissing everyone's ass, and practically french-kissed Ryan the last time around. Odd. I don't trust him at all.

Clay might be performing this week, but none of us Europeans will see it - Ruben performed and did a Q&A with the finalists last week but all past Idol appearances seem to be edited out for broadcast in the UK & Ireland - how silly. My mild annoyance will quickly become murderous rage when they cut out any future appearances by Kelly Clarkson.
I'm also slightly devastated that Lisa Leuschner wasn't given a chance to sing. Or Big Armed Marque.
Ho hum.

Or Big Armed Marque. Ho hum. They DID show Ruben in the ITV2 broadcast. Last year, I think there were contractual rights of broadcast that ITV didn't have so we couldn't see Kelly singing her new material. It would appear that ITV have sorted it out, because we now get to see the 'special' shows, like the Uncut etc William Hung type stuff and Ruben's performance. I think Clay is appearing on this (or next) week's show to sing his new song, so we'll see if ITV are just butchering the show to hell for the sake of it. I imagine that Kelly (yay) and Kimberley Locke (double yay) will be featured on future shows - after all, they have 12 long weeks of shows to fill. Now if only they had an ITV2-Kate Thornton type show for AI, the show would be perfect.

I HOPED Fox wasn't shipping all this ancillary shit overseas. The William Hung thing was mean-spirited if you ask me, although he did get a record deal out of it.

Biggest shock of the night was Leah getting in over Suzie Vulllaaaaa, just because Simon hates ‘I Will Survive’. I liked Leah when she sang before, but not last week at all. I think it would be quite amusing to have a Bulgarian winner of AI but it'll never ever happen. George does seem very likeable, although his voice is so deep it takesa bit of getting used to. He's a laugh though. I was a Ruben fan last year, mainly cos I cannot stand Clay, but I was disappointed to see how big he was. It's nice that he and Rickey are still good pals. I was so annoyed that Lisa and Marque didn't get to sing. Lisa's voice has a much nicer sound than Kelly's and also why don't they want her around when a. they all love Kelly Clarkson more than you'd think is humanly possible and b. she is miles better than anyone who sang last week. It's a total mystery. Marque was very gay wasn't he? Wouldn't have ever won but could have got through to the final 12 if he sang really well. I was also incredibly confused by them not choosing Susan, who was in my opinion the best singer of the night. I thought maybe the judges didn't know who the public had chosen and expected it to be her? I have to say I was very shocked when it was Jon-Peter. I like him but his performance was soooo weird! We always got to see Kelly, Tamyra and Justin sing last year so I'm sure Clay won't be edited out. Unlucky! Jessica

Ooh! So it's just TV3 here in Ireland who are showing cut-down versions... or maybe Ruben came and went and I somehow missed him. Not likely, is it.
Here, whatever happened to the fit guy who serenaded Paula and was a model for Abercrombie??

So when or should I say if it gets exciting I'll have to avoid AI news for 2 days since we get both shows on a friday. I think I'll tape the final this year. I couldnt believe how much they dragged it out last year. I will be fast forwarding through all the boring parts most of it this year I think.

Here, whatever happened to the fit guy who serenaded Paula and was a model for Abercrombie?? [swoon] Oooooh, you mean Alan Ritchson! He didn't make it past round 1 this time, although he has quite a cult following, thanks to being so incredibly fit and sweet. He's not shy about taking off his clothes either. Rumor has it he's up for a reality TV show Stateside, in the mode of "The Bachelor" - so dreamy. [/swoon]

I don't watch often enough to remember all the names, sorry.
The bloke singing Elvis was truly horrific and I was at a total loss that only Simon noticed.
I felt sorry for the girl who sounded a bit like Kelly and so wasn't allowed through, but if there is already a Kelly type on RCA's books they shouldn't try to take on another one.
George (I remember him) is a sweetie, but I have a feeling he might be a bit simple.
I didn't like the one Paula put through who sang Al Green. I remember Zoe singing it (with Will and Gareth) on the W&G tour last year and it was 100 times better and she has a much better tone to her voice.
The one Simon picked in pink. She was funny. Great potential, but in serious need of vocal training. I loved the face she pulled when Ruben said it was easy up until now, and it's the final 12 stage that the hard work starts.

Clay might be performing this week, but none of us Europeans will see it He did indeed perform last night, and sounded great. The song, "Solitaire," was dreadful, but Clay looked so cute. I get the feeling that he's possibly a bit over-tired at the moment, but he seemed upbeat. The results show delivered this week. I'm now re-hooked on this show. Their first "video" (commercial) was a rendition of "Fame" that was great. They have a lot of energy. Simon Cowell has been so positive these past few weeks. What's wrong?

If the rumours are true, Simon’s shagging Paula as well as his girlfriend so I guess he’s got something to smile about. Then again, he’s probably just relieved it’s not as bad as Pop Idol 2.
Unfortunately, we don’t get the Ford/Coke product placement ads that the contestants do. However, I remember last year’s final where they did the ‘Top 5 contestant ads’ and so we got to see some of them. We do get to watch the musical horrors that are the group singalong on the results show. Can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to that! And please, no more patriotic, flag waving songs like last year!

I have to agree about the "Wartime" super-patriotism we were subjected to last year. Why people don't see through this sort of shit is beyond me. The lowlight of the show was seeing Jennifer Hudson in the bottom TWO. Yikes! She is so great, although kind of fat and has bad hair. John Stevens is a tragic, no-rhythm mess.

I am just learning about the insanity of this show. On Tuesday, the show was wrapped up by Ryan barking: "Seacrest out!" That was very great.
The childlike girl - is she called Diana? - is an exact cross between Alyssa Milano and a cabbage patch kid.

John Stevens is a tragic, no-rhythm mess. Very much so, but like Cowell I'm glad he's still in it. At least he's trying to do something a bit different to everyone else even if that something else is a bit cack. Most of them are trying hard to sing loudly to prove they can. There are some brilliant singers, and most would wipe the floor with Michelle, but they have each other for competition and they are all a bit too similar. I like the girl with the flower in her hair because she has a flower in her hair, she doesn't try to sing too loudly or sing too many notes. The other girl from Hawaii is shite. All the boys will be safe for a few weeks because there are only four of them and they are all different.

A very telling moment was when they did the final 12 montage of songs, and it was quite apparent that each and every one of them could piss all over the Pop Idol 2 lot (even Leah. Well, maybe not Leah).
I loved Jasmine's performance. Completely unaffected and without the 'yelling' factor of some of the others. Completely don't get the LaToya thing, just don't rate her at all. Fantasia was great, but not her best vocals. I'm kinda coming round to George, as he sang great, but I was a little disturbed by the squatting throughout the song (was he actually trying to sit on the dock of the bay?)
Diana Degarmo is a cyborg. I bet she sang that song exactly the same in her rehearsals. Not a single bum note throughout. Maybe she's just very good, but it freaks me out that a 16 year old can sing like that.
Matt Rogers can bugger off right now. How annoying can one guy actually be? Glad to see Simon called him on the perpetual mugging for the camera stuff.
Oh, and I still adore JPL (as he is now officially known). If he gave up the wiggling his arse (entertaining though it is), people would actually see he's got one of the best voices in the competition.
And now we get to see the Ford/Coke videos, I can see we've not been missing much! No more line dancing, please.
