His number has been up for weeks, but he's not as awful as awful John. He was singing a song this week that suited his voice and still didn't manage any style.
Will Americans notice the gayness of George's film choice? Gay Americans and Americans who are open-minded will, but they won't care. The ones who might be prejudiced against him might not notice. Remember how many people were shocked that Will was gay?
Who do you think are the two women with Jennifer dolls? I'd say LaToya and Diana.
Simon is right about Diana being two young. They should raise the minimum age limit to at least 17, maybe 18. John will never develop sufficient personality and style, but he might have managed to string a sentence together if he'd been a couple of years older. It's getting embarassing. Someone like Diana would have a much stronger sense of identity that doesn't revolve around manic grinning. She has a muture voice, but without a bit more life experience she's not believable singing anything with any emotional depth.

I've heard the results show is being 'squeezed' to 30 minutes (i.e. less of the pointless filler than normal), and Christina Christian (AI series 1) is performing. I'm curious, having never watched the first AI season. Is she really Christina Milian with a different surname? Well she's suffered the same fate as the Milian. Incredibly pretty girl overstyled! Why do they keep doing that to the stunning girls, all their natural beauty gets lost under all that hair, clothes and make-up. The stylists need look 'subtle' up in the dictionary. And Quentin, great director but I wish that's where he'd stay, behind the camera!

So exactly who is left now? If I recall there's:
Fantasia La Toya Diana Jasmine Jennifer George John
Out of that lot I think it's really a forgone conclusion: Fantasia. But then we all though that about Sam...
Jasmine is cute though...

In terms of talent, it’s easily Fantasia. However, I’ve heard rumblings of discontent about Fantasia’s ‘attitude’. She needs to be careful about the backchat. It’s very funny and Simon Cowell gets her sense of humour, but others don’t. This week she was in tears over her own performance (happy tears, I think), and that alone will have pulled her a few notches back into the fickle American public’s good books. I adored her performance this week, her best ever.
La Toya, with her grim determination and insistence on singing overbearing power ballads that seem to dazzle the judges and voting public, could be the winner simply because she’s never done anything too bad. She’s not done anything amazing either (IMO), but the least offensive tend to win these things. George is pissing me off with his grovelling appreciation of the judges comments even, as with last week, when they were mostly bad comments ‘THANK you Randy, THANK you Paula’. Arrrrrgh!

More and more I am scared of LaToya. The steely perfectionism and haughty grandeur masquerading as a personality is not very appealing. There's no real warmth there. As much as it pains me to say it, I think you have a point about Fantasia. She's going from strength to strength but one can almost feel her overconfidence right now. Oddly, I hope she fucks up her Barry Manilow performance this week. It would give the American public pause and make the competition more interesting. How am I going to sit through an hour of Barry Manilow? I mean, honestly. How? At least George will be happy. He probably already knows all the words!

How am I going to sit through an hour of Barry Manilow? I mean, honestly. How? Wish as you've never wished before that someone sings Could It Be Magic - the Take That (and backing singer man) version. With dance routine. That'll be YOU George! Fantasia is the best, and if stupid Americans think she has an attitude problem because she snarls at Simon when she disagrees with him - so be it. I think she got the wrong end of the stick with him in the first few weeks, but I hope she's realising that his criticism of her is based on him realising just how bloody good she can be and pushing her to be good. La Toya is good too, but knows she's good in a bad way. I don't see any personality from her, just steely determination and self-confidence. She's too cool, and she reminds me of Javine, but much better at singing.

I knew there was a reason I liked George! It is very hard to choose a favourite. I can't stand Jennifer or Diana although I'll admit they are good, and I wanted to like John Stevens to begin with but I've totally given up on that and remembered why I can't stand swing music. Fantasia is getting better and better and I love George's cheeriness and his singing too. I hadn't really thought of LaToya being 'steely', she just seems professional and very mature, but doesn't she have children or stepchildren so I guess that brings a bit of maturity. Jasmine is competing with John for boringness. She may be pretty and seems very sweet, but I haven't really liked one of her performances yet. Her voice is nothing special. I want George to win, but would be pleased with Fantastia and to a lesser extent LaToya.

I think I'm in agreement with a lot of whats been said.
If John Stevens doesnt go this week I shall be very upset. I will also be very upset if he "sings" Mandy this week.
I find Jennifer annoying in that she over acts her expressions and gesticulations when she sings.
Fantasia is a very good performer and singer but she is also very much up her own arse right now.
Latoya is a good singer but yes she is boring and comes across as a bit cold.
George is getting better but his moves are well interesting - like the sitting on the dock of the bay thing where he actually was doing a sitting down motion.
Diana, I like because she is so American. I dont think she'll win but I'd like her to stay a few more weeks simply because she makes a change to the ones who take it so seriously.
Jasmine seems too nice. She is getting very boring and that flower is getting on my nerves now.
Did Barry Manilow do Copacabana? Or am I thinking of someone else? If so I can imagine George singing that one.

If John Stevens doesnt go this week I shall be very upset. I will also be very upset if he "sings" Mandy this week. The thing is Mandy is one of Barry Manilow's biggest hits (if not THE biggest) . There's only 2 guys left in the competition and one of them will most likely be singing it. I'd find it far more disturbing for John Stevens to be having a go at Copacabana (which Barry did write). Unfortunately, for all us Westlife-haters, whoever sings Mandy will prove that it's actually a tough song to sing. It's like when Ruben murdered Flying Without Wings, I found myself thinking that the 'Life were better at it, (then I wanted to kill myself!). I think this is John Stevens' death knell. He's really not going to be any good this week, whatever song is picked for him.

Nooooooooooooo! Its happened... the dire John Stevens "sung" Mandy. I may have to change channels for his performance. Nobody did Copacabana or Could It Be Magic though - boo!
"One Voice" - Diana DeGarmo "It's a Miracle" - Fantasia Barrino "Trying to get The Feeling Again " - George Huff "I'll Never Love This Way Again" - Jasmine Trias "Weekend In New England" - Jennifer Hudson "Mandy" - John Stevens "All The Time" - La Toya London

Nooooooooooooo! Its happened... the dire John Stevens "sung" Mandy. I may have to change channels for his performance. It was excruciating. I heard it in surround-sound, and I am now partly deaf. Simon was extra-cruel to him(probably a bit miffed about missing the 19 party) If the grannies vote him back next week I will probably explode. Seacrest seemed angry last night. LaToya was the best if you ask me, but she's just not exciting at all. Fantasia's child was brought out for the camera's, which seemed like an unfair voting gambit. Diana DeGarmo was horrible, but the judges liked it. Why? Barry Manilow is a robot. WHAT HAPPENED TO PAULA? Her arm was in a sling, she had bruises on her face and she looked like she was hit by a car. I must find out.

This is too perfect. I found out why Paula Abdul's arm was in a sling and her thumb all bandaged:
She had a manicure and ended up with an infection in her thumb.
Pain for vanity! She looked medicated, too.

I didn't think Mandy got any worse than as sung by both Barry Manilow and Westlife. But as American Idol would have it, it does. I don't like being mean about John though because he's quite cute and I respect the fact that he's only 16 and has alot to learn still. For all of you haters, come on now, what were you doing when YOU were 16? You weren't on a television show having Simon Cowell tell you that you were a brilliant singer one week and the next telling you you're shit and Latoya London (AKA the queen of shouting) is better than you. Which she is not.

It's like when Ruben murdered Flying Without Wings, I found myself thinking that the 'Life were better at it, (then I wanted to kill myself!). Although I will agree that Westlife's version is better, Ruben's arrangement of the song killed it. If he had sang it Westlife's way it would've been much better.

Ugh! Done with this show. Tongiht's bottom 3 and the person voted off proves that this show is no longer about talent. Some group of dumb ass Americans (probably the same crew that put Idiot Boy in the White House) have decided that the best way to kill the concept is to insure that the top 3 end up being those with the least amount to offer. I have watched both years prior and every episode of this year. I have bought cds by the winners and runners up. I have purchased the cds by the winners of other countries (Will, Guy, Michelle, Kurt, and others). And after tonight, I just feel duped. I'm done. The show is no longer on my radar.

It was nothing more and nothing less than a ratings ploy. It was completely fixed, right down to the way they set of George to go stand in the group of winners, which he assumed were "the divas". They had to shake it up a bit, and maybe Fantasia won't be as mouthy (maybe).

I love that the American audience is being strung along just as we all were for Pop Idol 2. Lots of insinuations about people’s positions but never really revealed and everyone goes into conspiracy overdrive. Nigel Lithgoe, Simon Fuller and co have used the ideas first tried out in Pop Idol 2 and expanded them for American Idol. The whole ‘split the contestants into groups’ way of creating massive drama was done to perfection this week with poor Gormless George as AI’s stooge.
The only reason the divas are falling is that they’re too similar to each other. At least John, George, Diana and Jasmine have their own fanbases (well Jasmine nicked all of Camille’s fanbase, it would appear). America is discovering that, if you have a glut of reality TV shows where the audience can participate, after a while people start voting in peculiar ways and the results bear no resemblance to the most talented contestant as was originally intended with the show.
The thing is, the voting peaked at 24 million a couple of weeks ago and has either stayed the same or even dropped off. Insinuating that the most talented contestants were the lowest vote getters ensures that horrified viewers who can’t believe poor John Stevens is STILL there actually vote for the better performers and Ryan Seacrest can do his usual ‘the highest number of votes this season’ spiel. I’m looking forward to John Stevens staying in another couple of weeks while we lose Jasmine and George (my next shocker prediction). I’ll enjoy seeing Randy having heart failure at the prospect of JS singing AGAIN!

I cant believe John Stevens is STILL there! I just hope that he goes next week before they get to do two songs each.
I was surprised at the bottom three but maybe people are getting sick of these ones. I think the Fantasia child fiasco may have gone against her slightly IMO, for three reasons: 1, it was a really crass and cheesy thing to do; and 2, some people might not like the fact that she is a teen mother; and 3, some people might think that if she has a child maybe she should be at home rather than going for a career where she will hardly ever be at home. Whether or not we personally agree with those reasons I think they will be issuse for some people. The only thing that goes in her favour from it is the aahh factor.

Dear god, Latin week (otherwise known as John Steven's Biggest Nightmare - yes, even more than Crockodile Rock!) So who's gonna pull the short straw and be forced to sing 'Livin' La Vida Loca'? I suppose you could count Enrique's wailing epic 'Hero' as Latin Pop, seeing as the artist who sang it was latin. This may well be utterly horrible. Can't wait!

Horrific news from the American Idol site: "Next week's guest: Gloria Estefan." It's guarantee'd that the remaining contesants will get together for a version of "Conga," which could be a fab pop moment but will probably be a cringe-worthy letdown instead.

Theres a show on before the proper AI next week profiling the final 12 and whats happened so far, or something to that effect. Why do they have to bring Matt Rogers back into my memory - I'd almost forgotten him.
