Blimey. Did not expect that. If anyone was gay this season I would have thought it was Anthony whatsit, the one that looks like a Bel Ami model. Last year I really hoped Matt Rogers was, but that probably tells you more about me than you wanna know...

Quite. Although in my book they still have to be attractive.

I'm too tired to search to see if someone has already posted this but Anwar is a bummer Well that's the least surprising news since, well, since it turned out Mario was as well.

No, Mario Vasquez. This is an American Idol thread, remember?
But Mario hasn't officially come out has he? It was just a rumour. And after reading the article about Anwar I think the "proof" is probably fiction. The pictures were taken from a fansite. Does it say when the profile was created? I'm not saying they definitely aren't gayers or that it really matters but I wouldn't say it with quite such conviction if I were you.

And how do you know the fansite pictures weren't taken from the profile? I just tried looking for the profile actually but I couldn't get the images to load, oh well. Since I'm not black or from New Jersey i'm not that bothered...

Maybe they just overlooked it. It's not immediately obvious it's a gay profile. Either that, or they realised it was kind of a secret and they didn't want to share it with the world.
On a vaguely related note, apparently it's songs from musicals this week...

From reading the comments from another site, it was horrendous. After past contestants being told that they're too Broadway, it appears that none of the current crop will be let anywhere near Times Square after their performances.
Thankfully another girl wasn't picked off though....

Has Fantasia been on the steroids? She makes Scott look fit and healthy.
And what was with her posture? Either she's had a spinal injury or she's just shat her pants.

She does dance kind of like a chicken. I loved her in last year's Idol, but signing her own stuff she's borderline unlistenable.
I was throughtly distracted by Bo in PVC tonight. If either he or Nadia wins it I'll be happy.

I was very sad to see Nikko go. He did some good performances earlier on and seemed quite nice. If Mario hadn't left he might still be in, meaning that Scott would have gone tonight, we never would have lost Nikko to rubbish r'n'b and we would be happier all round.

Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be Shirley Bassey.
Not sure if they get Stars In Their Eyes in the USA but it looked like Nadia had been watching it.
Poor Anthony, he just seems totally out of his depth. He just needs to wear a very tight short sleeved tshirt and some tight jeans and do a Backstreet Boys song.

Oy, this season.
1. Paula seems drugged every single time she's on the show.
2. Anwar is too gay for America. He won't win.
3. Scott is disgusting and needs to leave
4. Bo needs to learn about good touch / bad touch
5. I love Constantine for some reason.
But, I adore Nadia. She deserves to win, but won't after that Crystle Gayle number last night. Oh, dear, what was she thinking?

4. Bo needs to learn about good touch / bad touch Can I teach him? Nice to see another Nadia supporter on here. Crystal Gayle doesn't bode well though... it wasn't Don't That Make My Brown Eyes Blue or something was it?

Crystal Gayle doesn't bode well though... it wasn't Don't That Make My Brown Eyes Blue or something was it? *SPOILER ALERT* She sang "When I Dream," which is not a song I knew at all. It's on the website, but some may not yet know that Nadia was voted off. What a shame! I sincerely can't believe she was voted off and Anthony and Scott both remain!? Pop injustice!

Constantine Maroulis...hello! Although Greek-American is probably more accurate...
Yes, he's still on, and his Queenmania song from this week was insanely good.

Absolutely fucking incomphensible. Nadia's gone. Scott stayed. So did *Bo*. Glad about the latter, but a fat ugly redneck over a 21st century soul-with-a-capital-S diva? I have one thing to say:

This may not be a popular opinion, but I think Nadia deserved to go this week. Don't get me wrong, I loved Nadia and really wanted her to stay in for the long haul, but she does herself absolutely no favours by picking songs that aren't especially well-known or rousing - Jessica's earlier-than-anticipated eviction should have been an alarm call on that score, so I can't feel too sorry for her.
Scott really shouldn't still be there though. I find him utterly hideous in every possible way, especially if the rumours about his unsavoury brushes with the law are true.
I adore Vonzell, and I think 'Let's Hear It For The Boy' was an excellent choice for her. Even my flatmate, who hates American Idol and chokes to say anything good about it, thought she was fantastic.
And fucking hell - what happened to Carrie this week? Where did that voice come from? Can it stay and replace the dreary Carrie we've come to know and not really care about? Some of the notes were a bit iffy, but that's the most passionate I think I've ever heard her sound. If she can just work on getting some kind of stage presence and not just wiggling her arms like a shy schoolgirl, she could really have something.

I have one thing to say: "So did very good. .." ...Bo? Because he did. And he was. I completely loved Nadia's performance of the Crystal Gayle song, even though it was an obvious voter repellent. And she was so right to stand by that choice - because it was true to her, or whatever she said. Last week was the first time I thought she was actually better than Vonzell. But I'm still so relieved that it's Vonzell who's still there. She's just a little better as a singer. To me showmanship is slightly less important than music. During Scott's shaky Hall & Oats performance I was thinking. If the winner of PI-2 had been that ugly but had sung that smoothly, I would have been much cooler about that outcome. This isn't to say that I think it's OK with too much sympathy voting, or that I don't hope Scott will go soon. But when things don't go your way you prefer lesser evils. I still don't know whether to believe that AI has its high quality because it fits the American temperament, or because they have a large pool to draw from. I wonder, is it comparable with Eurovision in any way? I haven't seen that show for many years now, so I don't know.

What I actually said was "so did "Bo"" but for some reason the letters B and o added together magically change into "very good" on this forum. I guess it's like L-O-L becomes "I laughed audibly at this". No idea why though.
I agree with what you say about Nadia, and though I risk sounding pretentious here, I think integrity plays a big part in artisty. I also realise that what I said about Scott is rather childish, but he really doesn't have half the talent of Nadia.
I can't get my head around Vonzell to be honest. She kind of reminds me of Ashanti, who i'm not a big fan of. Very pleasant, very bland, very sweet sounding, stick her in a bikini and she'll sell a million. In my mind that's not what this contest should be about, but I don't know really.
What do you mean about the Eurovision? I don't really follow you. You really ought to watch it this year though, there are a couple of excellent songs and performers lined up for it.

Why the hell is Scot still in. Forget his size, As Simon says he hit more duff notes than right ones. He is so expressionless when he sings he could be singing a shopping list. For God's sake what is wrong with the american public get him off. Leave the 'vote for the underdog' to us Brits.
Please could someone slap Paula. I think she is the most annoying judge ever. Someone needs to take her aside and explain what the word critique actually means
